Dave Lorenzo is back after a strategic hiatus during which he completely redirected his business focus toward high net worth individuals and family offices - a sector he identified as more recession-resistant than the broader market. Over the past six weeks starting September 25th, he conducted over 100 conversations and 25+ hour-long interviews with professionals working in wealth management, creating a model for how advisors, consultants, attorneys, and accountants can attract affluent clients. His thesis is that accessing high net worth clients enables his own clients to work with larger capital bases, deliver maximum value, and build stronger teams with less effort. Going forward, Dave will document this business-building journey through multiple channels: frequent short-form videos on Instagram (under 10 minutes daily), weekly LinkedIn newsletters called 'The Relationship Economy' (publishing Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday), and regular episodes on the Inside BS Show. This represents a live case study in pivoting a professional services business toward a higher-value client segment.

Key takeaways

  • →Dave pivoted his entire business focus to attracting high net worth individuals and family offices because this sector is more resistant to economic downturns than the general market.
  • →He conducted over 100 conversations and 25+ deep interviews in six weeks to develop a repeatable model for advisors and consultants targeting affluent clients.
  • →The strategy uses multiple content channels - daily Instagram videos, weekly LinkedIn newsletters, and podcast episodes - to document the business-building process in real time rather than waiting for perfection.
  • →Working with high net worth clients provides access to significant capital, enabling professional advisors to deliver maximum value and build the teams they need with less effort.
  • →Dave is treating this business pivot as a live experiment, positioning himself as the 'Thomas Edison' inventing the light bulb so his audience can watch and learn from his process.

What our scoring noted

Our reviewer’s read on each dimension, with quotes from the episode.

Insight Density

6 / 20

The episode is almost entirely meta-commentary about the host's new direction and where to find content, with virtually no substantive business insights or frameworks. The vague mention of a 'model for attracting high net worth clients' is completely undeveloped and offers no actionable detail, data, or reasoning.

I've developed a model for attracting these clients based on my personal experience and what I've heard from the folks that I've interviewed
I'm testing it now

Originality

5 / 20

The positioning around high net worth clients and family offices during downturns is a common advisory industry angle with no fresh perspective offered. The entire episode is a promotional redirection with no contrarian thinking, first-principles analysis, or novel frameworks - just standard service repositioning.

whenever there is a downturn in the economy, that sector tends to be immune from the downturn in the economy or is more resistant
I want my clients to make the most money with the least amount of effort

Guest Caliber

0 / 20

This is a solo host episode with no guest. The host is a communications/business consultant re-pivoting his business, which offers no particular operational credibility on the high net worth space.

Hey now, it is November 3rd and we're back

Specificity & Evidence

2 / 20

The episode contains almost no specifics. Claims about 'over a hundred conversations' and '25+ in depth interviews' lack any concrete details, named examples, or actual findings. The promised 'model' is mentioned but never explained or illustrated with data.

I've had over a hundred conversations in the last 30 days. I've done 25 plus in depth interviews
I'm testing it now

Conversational Craft

0 / 20

This is a solo monologue with no guest interaction, no challenge to claims, and no meaningful questions asked or answered. The host spends the entire episode announcing logistics and platforms rather than exploring substance.

So let me give you all of that info again
this is a disaster from a communication standpoint. As a communications expert, I'm only supposed to give you one thing to do every episode and I gave you like five there

Episode notes

In this episode, Dave returns after a month-long hiatus and explains the strategic pivot he has made. Over the last 30 to 45 days, he has shifted his business to focus on helping advisors, attorneys, accountants, consultants, and other professionals attract and work with high net worth individuals, family offices, and affluent business owners. Dave describes why this client segment is resilient during economic downturns and why professionals who want to deliver maximum value should aim to serve at the top of the market. To build a clear, repeatable model for attracting and developing these relationships, Dave has conducted more than 100 conversations and over 25 deep-dive interviews with professionals already working in that space. Going forward, the Inside BS Show will feature short, frequent updates documenting the build-out of this new business. Dave will share what is working, what is not working, and the thinking behind each move. Listeners can follow the journey in real time across multiple platforms. This episode is the starting point. Hey now, it is November 3rd and we're back. I promised you we'd be back in a month and we are. We released a couple of shows while I was taking a month off from the podcast. We released a couple of interviews that were completed prior to deciding to go on hiatus, but I'm glad to be back with you and I'm happy to share what's going on these days.

So I announced that I was taking a month off from here and I did take almost a month off from social media, from doing things on social media. And the reason was because I started a new project. That's right. I've got a brand new project that I'm working on now and it is research into high net worth individuals and how to become a trusted advisor to high net worth individuals, to high net worth families, to family offices, to the affluent.

The reason that I'm focused on this is because whenever there is a downturn in the economy, that sector tends to be immune from the downturn in the economy or is more resistant to the downturn in the economy. And for my purposes, I always want my clients to be able to work at the highest end of the market. I want my clients to make the most money with the least amount of effort. I want them to be able to deliver maximum value.

And in order to do that, you have to be able to build the team that you want and that requires significant capital and where better to get significant capital than through working with high net worth clients, with affluent individuals, with family offices and with family businesses that are being sold. So I started doing research into this and in the last month, in the last 30 days, about six weeks actually. So from the last two weeks of September, from about September 25th on, I made a decision to pivot the focus of our company to helping advisors, consultants, attorneys, accountants attract high net worth individuals, affluent business owners, families.

And I started having conversations and I've had over a hundred conversations in the last 30 days. I've done 25 plus in depth interviews that have taken an hour or longer with people who are working with high net worth individuals, family offices, clients, and I've developed a model for attracting these clients based on my personal experience and what I've heard from the folks that I've interviewed. And I'm really excited about the model. I'm testing it now.

So here's what you can expect from me here on the inside BS show and inside BS still stands for inside business strategy because we're taking you behind the scenes here showing you what we're doing to build this business. Here's what you can expect to me from me over the course of the next, say 30 days in November. We're in November of 2025 right now. I'm going to do a few episodes each week, sometimes two, sometimes three.

And on those episodes, I will share with you what I'm doing to build my business. And I'll share with you what's working. I'll share with you. It's not working.

You can come along for the ride. Come along on the journey with me. If you want to see video of this, you can join me on Instagram. I'm going to post the raw videos in Instagram format, that vertical format.

I'm going to post them on my personal Instagram page, which I've reactivated. So those of you who are following me there, you can welcome me back. My Instagram page is the Dave Lorenzo. So my name and the word T H E in front of it, the Dave Lorenzo.

And these shows again, daily will be less than 10 minutes. My goal is snippets of content to give you an update on what's going on. And if I make them short, I can do them more frequently. So I'm documenting the process of building this new business and you'll watch me.

So you're watching Thomas Edison invent the light bulb here is basically what you're doing. I'm also going to crystallize my thoughts when I prove something and it's working. I will share that with you on LinkedIn. So if you go to my LinkedIn page right now, go to my LinkedIn profile right now, again, it is the Dave Lorenzo on LinkedIn as well.

So LinkedIn is the Dave Lorenzo and Instagram is the Dave Lorenzo. Go to my LinkedIn profile and if you're on my LinkedIn profile, you can scroll right in the middle, right in the smack dab in the middle. You'll see view my newsletter. Click that and the view my newsletter.

The newsletter link will come up. My newsletter on LinkedIn is now called the relationship economy. Be sure and subscribe to that. I'm publishing one LinkedIn newsletter a week in terms of the day it comes out.

We're experimenting. I did a Tuesday, I did a Thursday with the first two episodes or the first two versions of it and they both work Tuesday and Thursday. Both work. I think I'll try Wednesday this week, but it'll be a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

If you subscribe, you'll get it in your email inbox. So join me there and then send me questions about connecting with affluent clients, connecting with family offices. I want your questions. Send your questions to d lorenzo at d lorenzo.

com. So d l o r e n z o at d l o r e n z o.com. So that's what's been going on the last 30 days.

I'll start with my very first kind of progress report in the next episode. Maybe it'll be tomorrow, maybe it'll be the day after, but if you go to get inside bs.com and opt in, you'll get an email every time a new episode comes out. Get inside bs.

com. That's where you can get the show. So let me give you all of that info again. And it's a, this is a disaster from a communication standpoint.

As a communications expert, I'm only supposed to give you one thing to do every episode and I gave you like five there. So this show go to get inside bs.com opt in. You'll get an email when a new show comes out.

You want behind the scenes go to the Dave Lorenzo on Instagram. You want the results. You want to know what's working. Go to my LinkedIn profile, the Dave Lorenzo on LinkedIn and subscribe to the newsletter and you'll get all of the info there.
