stop telling and selling. Start listening and learning.
your job as a leader is isn't to have all the answers, it's to convene the resources to find the answers
Originality
All three tips are among the most recycled and generic pieces of business advice in circulation - listening in sales, empowering people in leadership, and being mindful of impressions in networking. There is zero contrarian or first-principles thinking.
Sales isn't about convincing or pushing. It shouldn't feel sleazy.
Empower people. Live in integrity and lead with integrity. Communicate a lot and often.

Speaker C: Hi Everybody. So after 16amazing years of interviewing incredible gurus and experts, I'm hanging up the microphone. I am beyond grateful for the hundreds of people who join me for insightful, educational, meaningful conversations. And those episodes are still available, so they're not going anywhere. As I enter my 20th year in business, it's really time for me to shift my energy to advising small business owners and training as many professionals as possible so that they can maximize their impact and results. That's why I got into business to begin with. Thank you for listening, for sharing episodes, and for taking this ride with me. Back in 2009, I couldn't have imagined how well received Accelerate youe Business Growth podcast would be. So. So this is my final episode. Hi everybody. This is my final episode. I've interviewed hundreds of people who are gracious enough to share their wisdom with all of you and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to learn myself from so many true experts. Over the years, I've made some great connections as well. I've had opportunities that I didn't know, uh, that I would have if and I have fulfilled a mission that I was on to get as much information, uh, in front of small business owners, leaders, salespeople as I could and I was only one voice, so that's why I launched this podcast to begin with. But it's been 16 years and it's time for me to focus on other parts of my business. So as a send off, I thought I'd share some of my tips and knowledge with all of you. So let's start with sales. It's one of my favorite topics. So many people tell me they are terrible at selling or they hate selling and I get it and I believe it's because they're doing it. Sales isn't about convincing or pushing. It shouldn't feel sleazy. So my tip is stop telling and selling. Start listening and learning. You'll enjoy it more and solely your prospects. Now let's explore leadership. Leadership works when it's collaborative. People want to feel like they are valued and they're contributing to something worthwhile. And your job as a leader is isn't to have all the answers, it's to convene the resources to find the answers. So my tip is empower people. Live in integrity and lead with integrity. Communicate a lot and often. And remember you hired people for a reason. Trust them to do the job. And lastly, remember that you never really know who you're talking to. So when you're networking or you're in a sales conversation, you're at a business event, you don't know who they know. You don't know what they need, what they believe or what they're experiencing. So be careful with your words. Be curious, but not judgmental. Your reputation and the reputation of your company depend on you and the impression you make. And it's something you can't get back if you screw it up. So be wise. There you have it. My three tips. Thank you for welcoming me and my guests into your world. I hope you found the episodes to be valuable. Continue to listen and share them. They will still be out there, as I said. And if you ever need help with a business issue, reach out. If I can help you, I will. And if I can't, I probably know someone who can. So thank you listeners. You're who I've been doing this for for 16 years. I wish you much success.
