Insight Density
The episode is primarily a narrative retelling of event logistics and community-building anecdotes with almost no transferable, non-obvious frameworks a B2B operator could act on. The rare operational gems — like attracting sponsors by asking 'what can you offer?' rather than demanding money, or using DEI as a neutral umbrella to access corporate budgets — are buried under extended personal storytelling and digressions.
we always believe in attracting not changing
the perspectives that you put out online or the posters that you put out will determine the kind of audience that you will get
Originality
There is a mildly interesting strategic inversion — framing Pride as a celebration and DEI summit rather than confrontational protest specifically to unlock corporate sponsorships — but this is described anecdotally, not argued from first principles. Most of the content is familiar community-organising common sense.
brands do not want to be part or be affiliated with kind of strong, aggressive organizations
Pride per region. And it should be done by assessing the. The region or the city
Guest Caliber
The guests are genuine practitioners who bootstrapped a real multi-stakeholder organisation from nothing, and they bring credible brand and marketing experience. However, they operate at a local volunteer-budget scale and their domain is civic advocacy, not commercial enterprise — limiting direct relevance to B2B operators.
I'm in marketing for 12 years. Enrique for 45 years
we come from brand building capacities, right? And we work with international
Specificity & Evidence
There are real data points scattered through the episode — 350 online registrants plus ~250 walk-ins, 1,500 headcount at the Ayala event, six-digit personal funds spent, named sponsors like McDonald's and Fujifilm — but these are dropped conversationally without context or benchmarks, and much of the episode remains vague and anecdotal.
We had 350 registrants online. 350 and I think about another 250 or plus walked in
six digits, Jude
Conversational Craft
The hosts ask almost exclusively open narrative prompts ('How did it start?', 'How did you guys survive?') and never challenge a claim, press for a number, or create productive friction. The interview takes a notable detour into the guests' sex lives, which signals a near-complete absence of editorial discipline.
So the past weeks is sex life. Okay? Active shot.
I just want to ask for someone who actually plans events like this, you know, part of contingency

True. Oh my God. Ucsp. Hi bash. What makes you happy? Happy pride. Happy pride. My guardian. I'm fine. How are you? How are you? I'm okay. I'm enjoying pride month. Transfer. Should you. Yes, very stiff. But check a notch. Correct. How are you? How are you? Are you enjoying Pride Month so far? I am enjoying Pride Month. And did you enjoy the event two weeks so ago? Yeah. So look, we thank you so much for being there. And speaking of before Pride Picnic last week two weeks ago. My name is Shane and this is Lyle. And you're listening to UCSP Chaka Supporters Season 5. You're your favorite S creer duo. Here to stay and here for more. Without going back. Two weeks ago. The event that we had it was successful Thankful. Yes. And cooperate whether the people also cooperative. It's because reason the face behind the eyes. The fires behind the event. The whole month of June. June very visible GKC land. And I really want to know about this organization because the Kanyang Manga founders close to my heart as well. The founders founding. Welcome ramon matthew basabe and enrique san juan. Hi guys. Happy pride. It's giving schedule. How are you guys doing well. For reals? Yes. I'm still a little sleepy. Yes. Still alive. Yeah. It's scheduled. You know, it's just like crying happens and then at 9pm on June 28th. Yeah, scheduled. Yes. But July 1st debriefing for what happened or the month before. We're very. There's like on how we have our framework on how things are done operating. And then of course the main conjured the biggest event is the march. So. But before that, let's talk about CPM Sloop. Right. So yeah, for sure. How did it start? Yeah. So when? Yeah, no really intellectual by a founder. Let's dissect the questions. First part, when, when. The second part is how. Yes. And the next is the why and when. Once again. No, no, really we. We convened like around May of 2023. Three. Right. So we're a very young organization. We're barely three years old or we have just turned three. But we've done four installments of Cebu Pride Festival series. Right. So it was a very simple gathering of multisectoral leaders representing different sectors, community and beyond. Friends and allies, of course that are providing programs parasite community and other sectors that need also attention and tending. So Angkaya Pa to Nga Tai Mang Bandwidth post pandemic. Everybody were busy taking care of themselves, their family and maybe also recovering. But mine is more like. You know, how you see it in Italy when you go to Venice. Let's make a mother calendar cebu part festival 2023 and then all of the different activities and programs Nagihimo Sala in LA in a group goal, we put it there and then mat care of our social media marketing pages. And that was where we birthed I call shade. Like that time there were different pride activities. And then, you know, this community has always been calling for acceptance and unity and you know, events apart from gathering. Before gathering, we were all like very aware of. Pride exists in Cebu for a very long time. Actually 2017. But there were a lot of boundaries and you know, Akokong personalang. I'm sick and tired of like us being, you know, and then that's why. Because we're all divas. And that's why we all convened. And Enrique, being our punong, Put logic to that gathering. And we're like, enough. Or like, you know, let's make a calendar. And then whoever wants to join, joins. So it's very exciting. No, in fact, it was my first Pride celebration here in Cebu because he's always been in New York, Audible, living in New York, going to Chicago, around Dallas and I would attend the pride events there. Part of you would wish, oh, this would be nice if we had it back home. But coming back here, it was really like. Like I was just doing my thing. It should be for everyone. But that's the reason why CPM is the one who binds all. The pride has always been very political in Cebu. We have to create an entity. But into that. That's what Enrique said. So let's just put into one calendar all the events open to all. And then we posted it. I think I had to show up to 18 events. Yeah. Really? Yeah. Standardized. Under Konotos. How did the other organizations doing it for a long time now knowing and then they're trying to combat it, trying to recept it. I think it's a natural human reaction. Like what you're saying. It could be coming from our perspective, like, what are these people doing? In fact, we get asked like, are you building a party list or whatnot? I'm like, no, it's really beyond, I think at least for now, from our imaginations. To put something like that really was to create this space where people are able to see different activities. Because a lot of people also are unaware that might have been interested. And then Akatosang organizer, they're seeking participants as well. And they're wondering. But of course, Matt and I, we come from brand building capacities, right? And we work with international. Like, if you want to do this, it has to be done right. Yeah. Also because it, like our names are on the line because we are in the industry. We're also representing our professional trade. It's done with Classical Community deserves the best. It really goes back always to that barangay or level. We believe, again, coming from a creative background, the perspectives that you put out online or the posters that you put out will determine the kind of audience that you will get. So, you know, the tone, the messaging and everything, even the brand that you put up as a page. So when we talk, if we do this, we have to do this right. So aside from the community building, part of it will also be an image or Persona to create Nisibu Pride movement. So aside from that, very political. But the Gan Kayo, the academy, the private institutions, even brands, again, we come from brands or international universities. They would reach out, you know. Yeah. And then. Because. How do I put it? I think the way to put it is to work with external partners because they're working with a budget. Yeah. I think there are mandates also that need to be respected. No. Yeah. In that perspective, there are different. Like the mandates for. For an LG is different from, let's say, a corporate entity or an ngo. So where CPM comes to be to. To be would be the conduit for all of these. Conduit. That's nice. Because we can do it. Yes, we do it. Yeah. And then also on. Can you put them on, Enrique? Because we're in that spectrum, we can really talk to CEOs, the way you know the language and the lingo CEOs use. We can also be barangay level. So when we determine who to invite or who to be actually open, Because we're very versatile. I think what Matt and I share, really is that we know how to, again, create the right messaging for the right audience and leading them all back to the same goal, you know, so we work with different sectors with different venues, and the feel and the vibe is really served to that audience. That was 2023. And then after people were starting to. They were like liking following and everything. And like, people were like, oh, okay, yeah. And then, you know, at first we just did the opening. No. So we did like a pride opening. And then after they're looking more now, they're wondering, oh, you guys are. You guys must be like the ones organizing different events. So 2024, we were like, guys, June, what's happening? So you're like opening Lang Tarunha, like what we always do, so organized Cebu Pride Festival 2024 Cebu Pride Movement. Yeah, Right. We called it the Cebu Pride Movement as the organization behind Cebu Pride Festival. Yeah. Legitimize it, partner. So we have to create an entity rather than an event. It's itself. Correct. So movement being that we're also in partnership with several organizations already. Because after all this is a protest. Right. But we have to do it and. And do it in a way where we can be welcoming of the different sectors. Brands do not want to be part or be affiliated with kind of strong, aggressive organizations. Not in that we have to be very kind of balanced. Yes. So there's strategies that are in place that can really get the point to where you want to be. Right. Limp you and smooth. But we'll get there in a moment. I'm very. I'm very intrigued because mean to say Kamorang Dua is working. Okay. Let's just say you were sick. Yeah, we were six way back 2024 when we decided, okay, let's do this as an entity. Also because we have different specializations and fields departments, we operated that way. So where are the three now? So okay, so me and Enrique come from a brand background or a marketing background. We have Roy, who's very administrative, so like skill set. So Enrique is logical, emotional tapos. Roy was the administrative one and then Roy is both emotional administrative Roy. So he like helps us with plotting our calendar. We're both ADHD people. Undiagnosed. I don't know, I'm diagnosed. And then we have the other three who works in a NGO are the volunteers for NGOs. Volunteers for NGOs part on building awareness and they have been on healthcare, HIV awareness, mental health. And then one is a consultant businesses and then the other one is an up and coming entrepreneur. Right? Yeah, my favorite NI Enrique. But also because of course as you move along with the journey, they have their own decisions that may have to be out of town, might have to commit to more personal responsibilities or maybe they're not aligned with the. So actually we're praying this is the last every year. And you know, I mean by the end of the day if you are in an organization and stressful and demanding. Yeah. You don't even get glorified. No, it's really passion based, literal. Because we really don't put ourselves in front like invite, but like before like anonymous and we want to keep it that way. So. At least technically. Mona, if dilit Juka passion based or like really rooted to the cause and the objective of why we're doing this but you know, AKO or Enrique and Roy, we were like, oh wow. This year meet and greet CCADC or anti Discrimination Commission, like oh, we're moving a step forward. So for us that's the win. So Namay Obana like and exactly mentioned. But there are ways to get things done and I always believe in attracting not changing again again. You always believe it. So I'm curious, for the longest time, how did you guys survive? I mean it's been three years and there's no monetary. We were like even, even 2023. Oh, 20. The 2023 Pakla an opening. But when we closed it, we had draft punch. Oh yeah, I remember you released a sum of money. But apart from that, in 2023, of course we had some support coming from Farley and Rachel Square. Yeah, they don't know me. I just walked in the room, may I meet up with the owners? And then I had a quick pitch and they're like okay, let's do it. So after that, you know, we prepared the program, activities, etc. It was also a partnership with some of the that are where Roy is also from bpoc Bunon. They were looking for an avenue where they can raise money. And I said since there's already a venue, let's come up with an event. You run the program, I'll find the sponsors and partners. And then we had a small pop up market where we had queerpreneurs, etc. So all of this like small little funds here and there covered a two night event and we were able to take care of everybody. Someone said, enrique, we have to pay. It was all out of pocket and support friends. Anka was with us at that time. They gave us shout out to Anka. I feel like that's very risky, especially if you don't have the assurance. Exactly. They gave us discount voucher codes and also some cash to help comedy if you don't make it beautiful or the experience. Experience beautiful. But we couldn't push it forward the next year. What do you build upon? Yeah, the goal is fomo. The goal is fomo. So and that's what we're teaching other organizations. So that's what we're teaching other organizations also to like, you know, go outside the box and like be intentional because what's happening with pride in many brands and I'll be very honest and transparent, they're there, They're coloring their logos rainbow, they attach pride flags in their establishment. But by the end of the day, that's it. Yeah, that's that's it. They're not pushing it to something, but we admire it. It starts there. Usually when we create a movement it starts there's goal is have everyone become intentional about like understand the objective. Where is this going to? But going back to 2023 and 2024. What out of pocket partners. 2024 it was like okay, opening. Yeah. And then after opening that was McDonald's first time approached us. They sent me a message McDonald's Organ Keeping and that and that. So much for unity bash. So Moto. And then we were like this is not like kind of Khalid or like a national. This is a global brand. And you were like also a leader in. Do you this is our first year holding or like what do you need? 1 million pesos. We were like okay, what can you do? What can you help? How can you help us? Yeah. So it's always like what do you have? What can you offer? And then they. They present and like yeah, maybe we can manage. We'll do something, you know, use it as our baseline for our opex, our administrative expenses, etc. Yeah. And then all else followed. No. So we, we did what we usually do when it comes to partners. So we did a house party in 2024 and then we invited our potential partners. Yes. So we targeted also like multi sectoral organization. Different organizations, advocates and affiliated to any program would want to Advocate Schools, Brands, BPOs, LGUs. Not, not thinking. But we filled the entire house. The White House of love yourself. That's how we started to connect. Okay, then we have to know our stakeholders. Yeah. Again no, we need to understand who will be showing up. No, who will be assigned to which person to attend. So if it's going to be like corporate. So I talk to these people. If it's school orgs, it's our school volunteers. They are in the same wavelength bandwidth so they would know and understand how to connect with them. We were six by then and then volunteers. So like you know. But then people were like oh, good job Sibu Pride movement, blah blah blah blah. What are the other pride events you organize? Henrique. So I think 2026 this year is the biggest for CPI by far because every year it grows bigger. I'm really happy about the DEI summit. That's the third one that was 2024 also. Oh, I started 2024 because you wanted McDonald's ask us what can you do? Like you know, come and put us again marketing people. Because, because think me. But like we want to take care of this brand so we have to find an avenue Wherein their brand aligns with an event or a pillar that we're gonna do. So that's why we called it Embrace Koal. Like it's the DEI summit. And then Embrace Momoto Ilahan. Embrace Kosila. Yeah, so we did that. Oh my God. So like. Oh, we were like. Remember we invited a lot of youth leaders that time. Because point is, okay, cpm. What framework are we exercising? We need to identify ourselves and then when we reach with an anchor program. So DEI is a globally utilized framework or deib Diversity, Equity, inclusion and Belonging. It's a framework where many corporations BPOs are practicing to create safe spaces in the workplace. And then we wanted to cascade that framework in the community, in academia partners. Okay, close now google form. Again. We were coming in aggressive. No problem is because we know how to brand, we know how to amplify. Enrique. Amplify and Roy does all the administrative stuff. So workforce. We tried to partner with the lg. We were like. Volunteers. You're able to find another contact in that LGU. Problem participants. Oh my God. But again, relationship start with that LGU because they did not know us. Which I understand we're a private group. There wasn't. I mean, there are protocols, right? But there are also other things that you need to understand. There are nuances and context when it comes to all these type of. And we don't ako personally idea about how the. That's why familiarity. He's dealt with like different government agencies before. However, it should have been accommodating in a way in the lgu. So Kato Langa agency among ka partner was not the main agency for anything. Pride. Yeah, basically me familiar for us already. Okay now it was a curve path, but it allowed us to also get to meet with them. You know, be on the right foot. At that time, less than 100 came from the expected 200 around 40. Then I think we closed that event at like around 85. Yeah. And then, you know, me was like oh my God. First Nina to and then Natay, McDonald's and Atasi. We pro also sponsored at that time and some partners. No, but you know, it was also a good start for us to learn okay works and waste the day. We're slowly understanding. I mean, if there's any consolation since Gamaira and participants at least. But you know, we. We always whatever resources we have. Volunteers mainly. But going back to the participants, they gave out very good reviews. They were happy ending at all was we pro was sponsoring workshops. So they'll DEI and then apply into a Project proposal sponsor and Fandani we pro for people that always attend these type of activities when we were younger as young leaders. Yeah. What works and what doesn't work. Of course we have to put all the best practices in one place. This is how you open it. Is the mid part shallow. There's always learning. There's one thing Matt and I will banter on or even with Roy discussed is really making sure that the quality and the flow of the program why it has to be done that way all nighter. Why this speaker? Why not this speaker? And then like we have to sell the idea like foolproof. Okay. I have this idea. We wake up the next day there's always like that. So even I think one of the most interesting thing that we had for this year is really being able to invite the president of the Deaf community in the Philippines Federation organization see Mama Maria. Standardize it because it's something you can grow. Next time. Meeting with them. And we just did not know and understand the nuances of that Ignite the right LG and then come Enrique. We're very logical people. Okay. There's nothing a dialogue can't fix. English there's because sometimes you have to bring people to court. Very unreasonable. Be like a lawyer. 26:26. So after that Moto when we started talking actually. Mom and then you know we bring value to whatever you've been doing for the for years. We've paved the way for you guys. But at the same time like okay then at the same time we will work with them. It took us years. So every year well the cool thing about it because at the end of that month there was going to be an event and we were able to bring in some support and help to the. Resistance. Posters. Again. The page that we've had became online power so became the amplifier. So many people especially those that are not From LGO like BPOs private institutions. So we made a really credible page and people were asking there so Kamiyamo ushers questions clarifications. Him or Google form registration. Photographers, videographers, volunteers. We never stop. We never stop. The more brands the more private institutions would like be. And then eventually now they really turned around when the event last year no it's a 24 ends of March. I think it's an Asila. But it was really last year where they. They fully accepted us took it upon themselves. That's a nice road to partnership by. Yeah we're very thankful this year. New leadership, new federation presidents, new Commission presidents. So it was nice you were Able to really sit down. So it means to say this year is quite easy to handle the. I mean the demand is even bigger this time because it's a different take because now they trust the organization, they give us a level of responsibility and now you have to be accountable for your deliverables. So it's a different kind of. Because you've been working in that sphere for years. My advice, last year, two years ago. We really appreciate you. If ever. If I'm not familiar with CPM or speed, of course the activities that you did. Weeks back. Like for example Summit. Yeah. The Pride run, the that last week, Pride picnic. So beta. It's a huge step in. In the scenes. Everybody, especially the lgbt. Even for us, I mean for ourselves. It's also like, you know, we still get goosebumps with how things like, you know, unravel every time. Pastor Amisha. Because everything did not happen just because you want them to happen. It was more of like we started with Embrace Ko all you were asked. So we had to like go back to the drawing room. Okay. So in this. So for example representations lesbians, We don't usually see them show up, although we know that there are Cebu lesbian communities or the Sapphics actually her space. We had to also do our mini research. But you know what the activity that you did last year, it was an organic encounter in which lesbians were there. Pride picnic. Yeah, they were there. Also there was activity a little before that. It park. Reached out. Reached out. So we're like it park or either way. Okay. Because it's the strategy but not being there. Point is brand equity should go back to the partner. But long term partnership work with us because aside. We always think of their brand. So car free Sundays. So at that time when we also did our ministry, Anything active or chill. Yeah, People show up like you know, community lang. They can come as they are registration. It was June 14th and then we went home at 2:00am I. I just, you know, went back to my place, prepare and then go. You know. And then you guys had to like clean up the venue and then they slept a little bit again. We don't get anything from it because we need to bring the Yovs out. Right. Oh, and then Jaguar parks whatsoever. So we were there and then lo and behold they all went out. We had 350 registrants online. 350 and I think about another 250 or plus walked in and then Ayala said, oh, this is the biggest car freestanders gathering we've had to date at least at the time. Yeah. Because it's like 1500 headcount. Their usual. And then. So we're very happy. And then we had. That's when they said do you want to use other assets of it Property. Happy massage with pride. And how we did it. Entertainment. We had aerodynes. And then, you know, like a big crowd. We're like, oh, we can do that. I was really sick that day. You know, I'm always. We were all sick that day. And I was like, oh my God. You know, after Segurosa ingress, I'm just gonna leave and say no dance. I ran and you know, like the adrenaline was just so high coming because it was so. Like the energy in the space was so good. And three. Three partners, no advocacy partners were there doing their HIV awareness counseling and testing. And they always tell us every time. Or it's always beyond their average hit. Which is a good no. Because part. Because we always. Part argument is final touch would be, is it a safe space? Right. Or as we still promoted a safe space. No. So aside from the expression, it's also like I'm safe to want to know my status. Although they're somewhat secluded in everything. They're just gonna tant in a chair. Their faces are exposed. But then they basically. It's one message. It's not about the. The people telling them to have a check or whatsoever. It's voluntary. But when you know that everyone around you are there to understand and support and rare like go. And a lot of people are also doing normalizing advocates. It was all like, we have an available. And then they see people going in. It's like. That's a nice word. Life not bad. That's how you start removing that stigma. Aside from telling. Creating awareness through posters or verbal. But it's showing them. They see it from afar. Right? Yeah. So again, going back after that APMC or Ayala Property Management Corporation. They said do you want to use. But then Cloud Chaser Pero Kame is like where again, we want to bring everyone in a place where we can all hang out, chill, come together, protest. We didn't want the route of protest, actually. Because I mean being that. That form of protest, you know, of course it has done wonders. But we too have our ways. Exactly. Different way of expression of protest. Personally, before you ask people to protest with you, they have to understand first what are they protesting as opposed to like just bringing a crowd and then they don't even know when they're asked about. They should be able. Trust me, 80 to 90%. No. I go there to look for cute people. We really hate shallow activities. We're looking for avenues. Where is. We have to understand for let them understand why Protest or feeling of passion. So that's why we have to start with something universal which is diversity, equity needs, then inclusion. We all have to be kind and to be accepting and give belonging to. To people. It's easier that way because. It really goes back to. If you start raising your voice, the other person will start becoming defensive. Let's not go. Let's go where we can have a dialogue. Yeah. And going back to the venue that we can tap. Nihatagcit park or Garden Block. Yeah. We were like very. Chicago blanket party. Yeah. Was it that or was it in Boston? But anyway, somewhere there. I keep telling Matt, you know, I'm a big picnic person. Right. Like. Like I've wanna Hanoi. So like I have very good memories with picnics and people in picnics. So can I say the name? It's like from which country should we start? The Netherlands. You go there like I would like every year for five years straight. I would go to Chicago for like the music festival. They have this annual jazz music festival. And it's a huge picnic. And then would buy a bottle of wine and like get like can we put to Switzerland? Besh what we do there. Is more of a common space. Yeah. Where everyone. Everyone's just leaving each other. You do what you want to do. You do what you want to do. But there isn't in the garden block people already picnic. Right. We just had to like mix it up a little bit. Intentional presence there. So that's how we started the Pride Picnic. What could be Alamag? How to do it? Three to five days. Everything gets done. Because of course, you know, we. We have our daily trades. Right. Like our side. Our sidelines procrastinate. No, no, no, no, no. We are really planners. Three months. Three months. Shocks. We only have five days. But we want to make it happen. Let's make it happen. Let it happen. Yeahpreneurs. Performers from the drag community in just pillar two kadis. We gathered volunteers, artists, DJs. No vendors, tents. Yeah. Community. For example, if you want volunteers whatsoever. They're really want to join Cebu in general. It's so easy to partner. We love that too. We're big foodies. So Moto it happened. Pride Picnic happened. Not knowing actually Katunga Day 1 Jucha correct. 2 days before. 85% in the morning I was so like I went there in the morning. Five o' clock. In the morning I had my printouts and patterns for like what goes like, you know, what goes to which 10. It started raining. It really did. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For I think a good for 30 minutes. Like our personal funds were all exhausted. Our sponsors. I don't think so. No. But I mean, we have to put some limits. Right. After. No, no joke, Joe. Six digits, Jude. And then after that you were like, yeah, we're here already. We have fundraisers and John Rimolo's coming. Like Sir Enrique. This was the night before. We were at the. Yeah, we were. Pouring. Yeah, it was pouring the night before. But then we're like, okay, what's going to happen tomorrow? And then the supplier was like, I'm not going to release or install my lead wall and sounds 25,000. Okay. We need to fundraisers. The sky was kind of although. And you were like. And you know, lo and behold, number one and then number two groups. Oh, my God, people are gonna show up. Oh, Lord. It could be a Sunday or Saturday. And then Kawanon, you want to stay at home, right? Oh, and you're like, like, oh, my God. Hiccups that day. Like, we had trouble like bringing in the vehicle. It was the wrong vehicle. Six wheels, didn't have the permit. They had to leave it park. And then we had to rent a four wheel so they can bring our. You know, so it doesn't end now with the power of social media. We posted one picture. Yeah, we posted one picture. People are coming all roads. And then like suddenly around 5, 6pm and then the venue was also very strategic because it's by the terminal. Oh, so straight people. And then we were like straight people surrounded intention to go inside, checking it out. Yeah, it was so fun inside performance. And that's why Pride Picnic because there were parents with their kids painting. No, they had like a foldable chair. Yes. There was also like two dads with two kids. Yeah. And they were there again last night, right? Oh, they were there again last night. And then, you know, the performances were so fun and all. And then Paranamo, the objective came later than the before objective, after or within the event. Realize. I think what we're creating is a bubble of love, of acceptance. And this is the application of DEI Summit. So again. But then we realized these people who came were actually also some of the friends and audiences at EA Summit. Saran and all now who was with Asma and you know, we created a safe environment where people can also. Well, the same reason with. Can we go to 2026 already? Wait, sorry. This is where we all cried while the event and all. There was a group at the back of the stage. You were so scared. I was so scared. Oh, okay. Usually Pride activities, usually protesters. We respect them so much. Much. So they're starting to, like, go nearer. And then they slowly went inside the picnic area and, like, coming. But coming as organizer, we have to be, like, two steps ahead. This could be. This could go wrong. Correct. And then activity and all. We're talking about 60 to 80 people. Correct. And then they started to, like, talk with each other and then clap. And we were like, yeah, Queer deaf community. And they were there. Performances were so happy. Our host, Angelina Batukan, was a spent teacher. Are you guys deaf? Oh. And they were like. Their faces and they were like. We were judging them the whole time. And imagine, that's the thing that we wanted to remove from ourselves as advocates of this advocacy because they looked like they were about to destroy the event, or at least that's how we perceive them. That was our mistake. And mot that person. And then Fast forward to 26. Thank you so much, Dave, for inviting us last two weeks, for inviting you guys here at our show. The math, like, your presence. The nice thing is that it was your first time to join, right? Yes, that was the first time. And then that was my first time to promise, honestly, my first time to join Pride Month. What really must keep Pride march and all being on the street also. And this is real story. LGBT friends that was lgbt, they don't feel compelled to join any Pride activities. Why? They already are, especially in Cebu. They're already very. They're very. They are very privileged to be surrounded with people that has already accepted them and felt that love that they needed. Or if I. Because I resonated when you said your CPM is not doing the ordinary protest, you have to express it in a different way, or at least it's a different way of telling people about Pride. Now my protest is different. I don't want to join street. So we should make, like, a matrix of form of protest to acknowledge and recognize the different protests. And I think that's also what I like the most, is because, like, what you said, you know, for a lot of people, Pride is a protest. Right? Right. There's a negative connotation about pride. Right. And for me, like, personally, and I want you guys to take this with a grain of salt. For me, Pride is just coming together, celebrating. It's a celebration. It is just what we did two weeks ago with picnic celebration. As a queer person, it's because you felt that this is my community and I belong. There are straight people. What I would suggest for the next year, Family days. Bella Tree mentioning families, in fact, in the tech startup community, Sir Jason Yeva of UP TBI technology based incubator. When he learned that there was this event, he brought his daughter and his wife, right? Yeah. I was like talking to the volunteers and then somebody tapped me in the back, like, and I don't like being tapped, you know, or touched. So when I turned, I was like, oh my God. Okay. So Jason. And then like the daughter was there and then she got this like cute little trinket from the shops. And then they were like, she wanted to come because she wanted to watch the shows, you know, and. And I feel also very much loved and acknowledged. Yeah. Because he's one of the people that's also helping me with our business technology side. He's our mentor and like that. But it's so cool, like. And then his wife was there and he was telling me, picture ta. Picture ta. Like with his daughter and then like the whole family, me and with them. And I'm like, this is exactly what you want to happen all the time for everybody. Conventional families. Oh my God, we are. Because every day, every day we're all in the same space all the time. And the truth is, it really happens for those that they feel like it should not be that way. Yeah. I think more of these gatherings can also ease way into them. It's a form of introducing our community, ourselves. We're not actually hostile people. For the longest time during Pride or they're very closed off with accepting us during June. It's because we come very aggressive in the streets. So that's why what we wanted to do, again, respect to those who do Pride March, we still need that as well. But also to ease out that feeling, maybe we can try something. We'll also try another strategy. That's how it started, you know, that's how it started in 1969 was very important also. But our side, because we have to. How did we say it again? Pride per region. And it should be done by assessing the. The region or the city. Like, what does our community need now? Families at LGUs are now starting to do policies. So let's continue to create a space wherein, you know, it's safe for everyone. Like, right. Over the past decade, you would say at least that we are now transitioning or moving towards like legislation, models, approach. Because, you know, for the very first time. Yeah. She called us for a quick meeting last May 27th. And then like we had a quick five minute meeting, quick lunch and sha. Okay, this is what we're gonna do, guys. I'm gonna sign an executive order where it's gonna be right to care. It will be the first step forward before it becomes an actual ordinance. Right. But what she wanted to do was really roll out the EO and like three business days, June 1st launched and this year, no just to share also because health care address. So we've seen the programs, the improvements. That's nice. There has to be consideration already on how it can be inclusive. And you have to remember this is not because we were there. Matt and I on different occasions were consulted also on how this is going to be drafted. And together with the experts, lawyer, the legal team were there. And also those running the hospitals, doctors themselves. And for us, how the messaging would be. How do we translate all of this technical aspects of the legal and the medical side into palatable for the. Become palatable for the public. Right? So I mean number one, it has to be everybody. It should have been for the community. It wasn't just a right to care for same sex couples or partners, but actually for every single person. We just received a message from a volunteer. This is the perfect time to really push, push for right to care in Cebu. Because young auntie like a partner legally married to someone else, but because they are not a straight couple. Right. So I mean that's how you do it. But you know, going back 2026, the other three, may you guys rest with peace. So we were like, okay, I think events we have done and then we'll have to standardize it and the bag is allowed. So. And we're very lucky this year. Partners, sponsors, stakeholders, how can we help? Where can we volunteer? Continue to work with us. That's nice. It's a nice partnership. Yeah, it really is a partnership already, you know, I mean it's. It has been forged over the past four, three installations, right? Continue like Ankas, for example. 23, 24, 25 present McDonald's for 24, 25, 26. And that's how I like to do things. And if I want to work with you and I like you, I'll work with you for the rest of your life. But you know, do me bad and you're gone. Per event thing. So it's now more on. It becomes process from someone new to pride. Your pride march becomes more meaningful because you understand why you're there. You understand also the things that you're fighting for. Right? And you Have. And what we're really trying to tell everyone is that beyond self know beyond yourself, you're doing it for other people. Yeah. It has to be a purposeful protest because apart from. I would say apart from being a very adamant and stubborn person, I guess it's really also understanding that the consistency really comes from having to be persistent. No, because you're thinking about those that would. Could benefit from this. And trust us, we've been very persistent in. In things, you know. So that's why this year was very different. Because instead party party is so good and we set that. Okay. First day. Happy Pride June 1st. So that's a plus. Star. This was also the guy guidance of Gov Palm and Cpydo Province. Let's start it right. No June 1st flag racing. Dei Samita. Yeah. June 1st acceptance inclusivity. LGBT Gov Palm asked the entire employees of province to attend. Number two senior citizens. It gets better. Muslim community went there in the DEI summit. And then the deaf community were there as well. The military service. Military service was there. Summit again. Framework. It's for everyone. It's a universal framework wherein LGBT. Is. Let's do it right. DI summit should be done with many sectors, not just lgbt. Even when we create posters about it. Rainbow well represented. I feel represented. Right. And that's how we wanted to start Pride. The feeling of inclusion and belonging. And then even among Mama Papa they were there too. We had a religious organization. The right foreplay for pride. Correct. Days we're ending June. So what are the other activities that CPM is giving the community? What should they be expecting? History in the making, guys. You want to be part of it in the next 48 hours countdown. So we're doing the Cebu Grand Pride parade. And this. This is of course in partnership with the provincial capital and the Cebu ctlgu. So the Hansa Lama Satom partners of course Governor Pamela Baricatro, Mayor Nestor Archival. Mayor Nestor Archival. And our ccadc Kentre Raffles and the rest of the municipality mayors and other mayors who will be sending support as well. Imagine this time different municipal mayors and lgus. This is the first time they did. First time everyone's conversing. They have their own efforts. So how do now what we're trying to do is bring in that little 2023 activity in June translate at a provincial level convergence. That's why it's very historical because I don't know if Naanaba before but based on our research, it might be the first time that we have a governor marching with us in the Pride March. And aside from that, we're doing the historical route from the capital Boulevard. Yeah. So that's the assembly point. Approved. Yeah, approved. Now they have to. So it's from the capital, the provincial capital, to Plaza Independencia. And take note, via Osmenia Boulevard. Wow. So via Osmania Boulevard, that's Colon street to Cologne. And then Magalan is all the way by the City hall and then National Museum, then entering the Plaza Independencia. And we'll have a. We'll have a program there from 6pm all the way. This will happen a few days from now. A couple of days. Well, of course on Sunday. Also, our friends from Mandawi City and CPM has been part of their Pride marches for the past three years. So this time they're doing something historic. Also, they'll have a big event happening at the Pure Gold Open lot. That's one right by my hotel. It's a new route for Mandawa. Yes, a new route for Mandaue. Because this time it's going to be bigger for them too. So. Yeah, and we're very happy. You know, during the time when we were still planning in April, it's like, yes, again, we're cool. We'll move around some dates, aligned our calendar, etc. Yeah. Because they're trying to get them to like the last Saturday of the month. Like, hey, Cebu Province and Cebu City is going to do the April 9 holiday. We try to gather different stakeholders from the stakeholders so that before they announce the calendar, we know how we can like try to, you know, they're just waiting for. For us, something maneuvering, align, waiting for cp. They're waiting for cpm. We include different stakeholders. Like the military has always been supportive of the pnp. All the schools Pride leaders from different academic institutions. And then, you know, Golf Pump provided the avenue. She showed up. We called it the CPM Power Alliance. People and organizations working acronyms, guys. But yeah, I just want to ask for someone who actually plans events like this, you know, part of contingency or I just want to know what are the things that you're anticipating in the next two days positively and negatively. There's always going to be a whole bunch of surprises on the day itself. Correct. Right. So what's cool about us? We're always about like attacking the problem right away. It's always like, how do we arrest this? It's one thing that you prepare for. You have contingency plans. Right. Or like buffers. But then when that gets like, you know, when you come across an actual real surprise. You're always like, okay, what resources do we have? It's okay. Like, I'm just like, let me know what it is. There's always a friend we can call. Right? It's always that way. There's always a way. Like, who do we need to talk to? Or like, who's the one giving this decision right now? Why are they stopping us? What's going on? Right. And then I come in, I call and you know, we have the dialogue, we have discussions. I'm so grateful for Pride. Thank you. And again for what's going to happen. That's why we're putting the parameters. We're getting everyone on board. We had a meeting with the Traffic Management Commission while I was on travel in J and he was there. Can you give much more life during that? Well, kudos to the. To the family and friends doing their events and it's something that we can study also. But as far as Cebu is concerned, I think the community is now coming together. So let's celebrate that convergence opening in two days, June 27th. Right. So happy because Cebu City is very. Yeah, they're very proactive and float competition winners. Nisibu Province in Cebu City. They will send those. It's really rough and just get the world together. Yes, yes, yes. It's really a celebration. So, yeah, there's going to be another. Well, we've had our alignment meeting couple of weeks back to just have a good foresight on what might happen. Both again, no challenges versus the easier parts and. And again through and through. I think we've always been blessed. Like we. We pay all our suppliers. We're able to give a little token. Just thinking not just about the org. It's the welfare of everybody. Not just everybody. Apart from there are people from our own natural networks and relationships that we've been taking care of over the years. Right. And they're taking care of us also over the years. The new ones have to be nurtured too because I mean, you know, I'm always sick in June every year. This year more chill. This time. I hope not for the. Yes for a while because. Because apart from the sleepless nights and having to do all the other things, nowhere I'm a part of the stress and anxiety that comes from the pressure and just wondering where everything is going to come from. But we've always trusted in the end, we've always trusted that help comes our way and it always does. And then volunteers. But for us, we have to take care of them. Stressful must again. Kaguna Volunteer Volunteers. Just for the sake of volunteers, we have to think of their welfare, their food. Number one. We don't randomly. We just don't randomly get these random students. No, we have to like what do they do other part of the country. Next year we're gonna have a volunteer mentoring program. We're getting older. We need to train also the next generation. Someone has to. Every year I keep saying next year I'm done, resign. But here I am, you know, on my fourth year. Knowing them, knowing the organization. But ucsp or. It's because soon it's very busy for. Busy for the two of you. Hi Roy. We miss you. So the past weeks is sex life. Okay? Active shot. Well, Matt. Matt has a partner, so he can answer that. Oh, well, I think the reason of the time. Did you still have the time? Because of course, let's face it, I'll be very honest, it's very limited. Yeah, but again, I see sex not just in the ritual itself exactly. But sex for me is the intimacy we have. And you know, I'm very blessed to have a very supportive partner. I have to speak to my legal team about this. It's a safe conversation. I want to share the story. Oh my God. I mean, let's not preempt things, guys. Let's just let it flow. Let's be happy for Enrique and his. What? The corset, his hole. It's always there, you know, I mean I always. Whole life. His whole life. I mean you have to operate from the space where the. Again, no wavelength and frequency with other person, whatnot. You like a partner is very sweet, bro. I get more dizzy. Yeah. So it has to be conversation. Or really such as someone you know that's. Yeah, I'm nothing. I cannot be boring at all in any way aspect. I can be intense. I love it. And I think in the way, the way we do things. This is a representation of the keep up. For Enrique to be in seven places in one day, there has to be. You have to like, you know, be. I wouldn't say enough but like there has to be some type of good reason. Right? Put you in my calendar. But you're happy with him? I mean we saw it last night. He was so happy. You're so happy. I'm always happy. Oh, I love it. I'm always in a good state. No, I would always say wherever I am right now in my life, it's always brimming. I'm always brimming. Say it again. I've always. You Know, felt love from family, from friends, school, everywhere I go. It's always. It's always like, no, that's why it's my. My. My natural state is always, like, giving. Giving. Yeah. And that's why we're able to do this also your Christmas every day because you're giving one episode. Not because for whatever reason. That's true. I always receive, like, random gifts all the time. And I think it's emitted from the fact because it's what's being channeled. Exactly. It's very karmic. No. In some people. Yeah. And then, like I say to the universe, it arrives and it's just. Just. It arrives and it arrives. You know, it happens with us all the time. This is so true. Because the universe is very abundant. It's just. It's just you who needs to. It's okay. By the end of Monday, June 1, 12 midnight, 250 runners, 100 open. Boom. When we got the sample, I was wearing the singlet. I was wearing the medals every day. Yeah. Three weeks before, Everywhere I went, everywhere I went, I wore it. I go to the restaurant, I had a medal. This is me believing a major event. So Roy does Malika. Enrique rwp. And then I lead bride picnic. And then Polypoli back up. Enrique is trying to be a vlogger. Also. I made $3. $3. But it's growth because, you know, last month you were earning a dollar, and then now always, but. But again, we know the gravity and the demand of Cebu Pride movement's activities this year. And we have to go out there, we have to be visible, and I have to do it because it's again, the looking for and crowdsourcing. It's very fast through social media. And sure enough, yeah, we get like, you know, we got different sponsors, we got top line, we got light fuels, a lot of resorts and hotel. Resorts and hotels and Fujifilm. Fujifilm. Oh, my God. You know, kid, like, you know, if we do this and that, and then suddenly, yeah, we get an email. It's either that or like, someone will DM bash. I know this person. Just like, you know, one. One message and then boom. Like, you know, all the TNVs should be there for like, the 20, like, for the next few days. And then we got a call. And then that day I rang and I'm like, hi, I'm from Grimm gsm. Mls, the national director. They're open to, like, collaborate. Now. It's one thing that I sent an email, and then I was just like, you know what done you Won't respond. And then yesterday. Boosh. Oh no. Two weeks ago. Yeah. When you want something from the universe called you to pinpoint at the marginal point, there's actually a lot of help. Yeah. It's just how you. How do you link up? Yeah. How you link up and how you present. Oh my God. Yes. It's very important. They have to understand the brand themselves. What's the brand equity. But I can propose it's already tailor fit. Right. And sometimes probably just like. Like speaking at like using a different language. Even if same remote interpreter. Yes. And I feel like with the years of experience you have. No, you guys. No. I mean, I feel like you're already established. So when you reach out to brand. Wow, that's. That's crazy. I don't know if none of us trust. Yes. Of course. From our individual backgrounds. You know, Enrique, I'm in marketing for 12 years. Enrique for 45 years. Oh my God. Even before my parents tried to like. Individually and then collectively credible me together. And then plus CPM also being like always assertive and noisy. And then if we have plans with Askroy Roy at a risk management level. Right. Because what level are we? Person. Yeah. I mean, I wish. That's why I keep saying we just have to put on a camera and have people see and witness how we do things. Because it's real. You don't see this every time I watch me always. So like it's. I always go back to discussion. Because we work together in attacking the problem. Finding the common ground. Not even the common ground. The best solution. That's nice. That's right. No compromise. Thank you so much for spending your time here with us. But before we end this episode, I really want to. Wine. I really want to know. Of course. It's Pride month. I really want to know. What's pride. Pride for you? Well, very straightforward. Right. It is being able to embrace yourself. Yeah. Being your authentic self. Yeah. And everything. Everything springs out from there. I think pride for me is being able to find a platform to be yourself. Being able to share your truth and then be not afraid to love. Okay. Most of the time, the love has always been either in a boundary or within yourself. So pride gives you an opportunity to share that love outside. And once you do that, it goes back. So it's to be able to love and be loved in return. And that's what this world needs to stop all this oppression and the hate. Everybody just focuses on love. It's misconstrued the context of being Pride the word. And then it's tagged back to pride. Being prideful. But in reality, it's really being able to be able to express yourself and the love that you would want to give to friends, family, a romantic partner, your colleagues at work. And just to celebrate. And to celebrate. It's so funny. It's very ironic. Ironic. The word pride is seven dead descends. But in reality, it's just being able to. Yeah, Pride. And what we're trying to work with in our communities through Cebu Pride Movement and our stakeholders is to give the people the confidence. Because it's the kind of love that we have and want to show that's being shamed. And it should not be the case. No form of love should be shamed. Expression know whether it's unrequited or whether. But just putting it out there now the same way with how we're just extending ourselves to everyone and yeah, I think we're slowly, slowly getting there. Yes. Imagine 2023 starts CPM and then you grab young Ripple effect. Right. How about you guys? What's pride for you? Oh my God. Pride for me. Pride for me is a detergent balm. But anyway, anyway, thank you so much. No, for me personally, pride for me is courage. Okay. The courage to show up, to even come out. Because it's not. It's not easy to be courage. The courage to be with a community that's constantly being scrutinized. That's courageous. And that's. Right. Correct. Correct. Oh, that's beautiful. And I think that's so correct. It's the same thing as I think it boils down to be. Pride is just accepting and letting people know that you exist. Like for me, That's how you show it to everyone. With love. Love with respect and with understanding. I think that's my. That's my kind. That's your definition. Because like, what would be a more collective way to look at it? Sometimes you never allow another person to dim your light. Yes, that's true. So being able to have that light. No, it really should be innate for everyone. Inherent for everyone as it is. Humans, humans as we are, we have. Have that innate sense, intrinsic sense of value. And for some people, they're robbed of that. So for them to deprive. Oh, so they may be deprived. So if Naatai more than enough we share, right? And we said we can we let them realize they they exist. And then they say space. That's it. Oh, thank. To invite everyone to another activities for Pride Month. Yeah, sure. Again. June 27, the Cebu. June 27, Cebu Big Pride Parade. Let's all gather three o' clock at the Capitol grounds, the Cebu Provincial capital. And then let's all march through Osmena Boulevard and Colon, down all the way to Plaza Independencia. And also on June 27, for more information on your participation as a group, as an individual, go to Cebu Pride Movement page in Facebook, Instagram and other platforms. Well, we have a website. Thank you so much. We have a digital partner. S cloud. Well, it's heavy convergence of different representations from all sectors. Academe, the NGOs, CSOs, private companies. Right. People traveling, coming out. You know, at the big pride picnic, a random person approached me like, are you sir? Enrique? What can we do during the parade? We have to register. We don't have an organization. And they were like. I was like, what's going on? You can just like join CPM's group. No. And. But my sister and her girlfriend, they're flying from David. Wow. Rwp the same thing. Yes, sir. Central block, Right. So it's nice though. What Go Palm has done is to amplify also the things that we were doing. And you know, we're now the entire island of Cebu. And even outside of Cebu, people from in the N. Outside of Islam. And they will be doing a lot of Visayas things next year. Enrique. So sleep up. Anyway, on June 27th. Also what they need to expect is at the Plaza. At the plaza. So there's gonna be a Queen City, a Queen of Cebu City event. There would be like awards coming from the province and awards coming from Cebu City. Different categories of the gathering of all sorts on that. You mean this is a culmination of everything? Yes. And June 28th, Mandawa Pride March. Let's all go to. Yeah. Back to back party. If you look at. If you've seen the news, they transformed the Heritage park and the. The Cebu City, sorry, Mandawa City hall into a garden of pride. So it's very beautiful this year because they know that people from all of all over Cebu. I heard there's an international guest for Mandawi Pride March. That might be me. And then the launching of my new care. June 30th. We're doing pasalamat. That's our tradition wherein we gather all the organizers, those who organize productivities, stakeholders. It's more of like thank you for all your hard work. It's time to rest, no? Then save up energy. But for CPM, we also present our metrics or KPIs. Everything that went inside the money the support and everything. Yeah. Oh my God. So there's still more to look for. Yeah. But it's okay. I think on July for the brands that want to take care of us. Let us. No. The resorts to give us like come together. Yeah. And usually we do our evaluations in July. So we lock ourselves in one room. We lock ourselves. Like literally lock. And then that's where we like again. Because we come from a corporate background and until we practice that sustainability. So. And that's also how we can see it's working or if it's because we present it to our partners also, especially the corporate entity. It's always like that business review how it impacted our timeline because it's easier for them to report also to seeing also support this again, much as defy. How do we. How do you present this to finance? How do you. It's okay. And we follow. We follow the standard metrics. Yeah. We talk to different industries. Huh. Tourism, hospitality industry metrics. Compared to Imohang Transportation or telco and fmcg and telco. So grab that. We tweak everything all the time. That's the hard work. That's the hard work that we have to put in. So it will work. Good job. Good job. Thank you. Thank you so much. If you've reached this part of the episode, we'd like to thank you and I hope participate in the next two days. June 27th. Again, that's the Pride March. If even though delicate LGBT and for those friends from the PWD community from different sectors, you're all welcome in the parade. For an LGBT parade. It's open for everyone and be there show you our diversity. They don't want to walk the parade if they're not reasons why. On the street. What if. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you for inviting us. But anyway, thank you so much once again. This is live and this is Shane. If you're listening, listening to ucs, check us a part of season five, your favorite Cebu and the clear duo. Here to stay and here for more. Thank you so much. Thank you, cpm. Happy Pride, everyone. Happy Pride all day, every day. Thank you.
