Ashley June examines the intersection of healing and business growth, arguing that unresolved emotional trauma creates nervous system responses - like over-apologizing, analysis paralysis, and anxiety - that directly hinder business performance and leadership capacity. Drawing from her own journey processing grief from Charlie Kirk's passing and recognizing trauma responses in new friendships, she explains how the body holds unhealed wounds differently than the mind accepts them intellectually. She describes specific business impediments: entrepreneurs paralyzed by fear of investment, those triggered by difficult clients who experience constant email anxiety, and leaders who unconsciously tone down their voice and vision. The episode positions healing as maintenance work - an ongoing process rather than a destination - and frames the upcoming Women Who Arise Summit (September 29) as a healing-focused event with 13+ speakers dedicated to inner healing, nervous system regulation, and spiritual encouragement. Ashley also introduces the Sanctuary, her monthly online business wellness club combining soul care, emotional healing, and deliverance work alongside traditional business strategy. She emphasizes that God calls leaders to operate from wholeness and freedom, not survival mode.
Unhealed trauma creates hypervigilant responses where entrepreneurs over-apologize, self-monitor excessively, and experience anxiety with every client communication, even when no actual threat exists - essentially operating in a survival mode that erodes confidence and leadership presence.
Unprocessed fear and scarcity trauma cause entrepreneurs to brace for loss and impact, making them freeze when facing investment decisions because the nervous system perceives financial risk as dangerous based on past emotional wounds rather than present reality.
The mind can logically accept a fact (like 'this person won't hurt me'), but the nervous system and body hold unhealed trauma separately, creating physical anxiety, tension, and emotional responses that bypass intellectual understanding - this requires somatic and body-based healing, not just thought correction.
Ashley's father took five years to calm down after retiring from running his business, illustrating how deeply the nervous system embeds survival responses; however, modern healing modalities like somatic training, spiritual inner healing, and deliverance work can accelerate this process.
The Women Who Arise Summit is an all-day event on September 29th featuring 13+ speakers focused on inner healing, nervous system regulation, and spiritual encouragement for Christian women leaders and entrepreneurs; it's designed as a refuge for women who are exhausted, grieving, or stuck and need healing to step into their calling.

The episode is heavily personal narrative focused on the host's emotional journey and spiritual processing rather than substantive business insights. While healing is framed as a growth strategy, the episode lacks concrete frameworks, actionable mechanisms, or novel business principles - instead offering generalized observations like 'healing helps you grow' and 'trauma responses hinder leadership' without depth or specificity.
your business is going to actually be hindered, like when you're not healed
leaders, like, they're not being held back by the unhealed, like, unhealed areas of themselves
The episode relies entirely on common therapeutic and spiritual platitudes: processing trauma, nervous system regulation, mind-body connection, and the need for emotional healing before growth. None of these ideas are original or counterintuitive. The framing of healing as a business strategy is presented as novel ('no one is talking about that') but lacks substantive differentiation from standard executive wellness or therapy discourse.
healing is a business growth strategy and no one is really talking about that
there's a lot of elements of, like, mind, body and spirit healing that we really need to walk into
This is a solo host episode with no guest. The host, Ashley June, is a life coach and course creator, not a practitioner with track record of implementing healing frameworks in business at scale. She references her father's five-year post-retirement decompression and a licensed counselor friend but does not interview them. No external expert or operator with credible experience is featured.
I'm your Host, Ashley June, MBA 7 figure business coach
I was actually talking to one of my best friends the other day and she's like a licensed counselor
The episode is entirely anecdotal, relying on the host's personal stories (friendship conflict, grief over Charlie Kirk's passing, a new friendship) without data, metrics, case studies, or named examples of businesses that improved through healing. A vague reference to 'hundreds and hundreds of people' and 'one bad client a year' provides no quantifiable evidence. No dollar figures, timelines, or measurable outcomes are discussed.
I like to say you have one client a year that makes you want to quit
when you work with hundreds and hundreds of people, like you have, you're going to have some bad eggs
There is no conversation in this episode - it is a solo monologue delivered with self-directed tangents and personal processing. The host does not engage with opposing views, challenge her own assumptions, or invite substantive dialogue. The closing includes promotional calls-to-action rather than thought-provoking questions. No follow-up depth or intellectual friction exists.
Hey. Hey, ladies. Welcome to today's episode.
I'm kind recognizing that, like, this is a survival response that I'm sort of having.

I've had some hidden triggers pop up on me lately, and it's teaching me something huge: healing is the missing piece behind why so many of us stay stuck as a Christian Business Coach or online business owner. Today, I'm sharing what God's been showing me about bracing for impact, and why your online coaching business won't have a breakthrough until you deal with what's underneath. What you'll learn in this episode: - How a friendship that turned sour left me over-apologizing in a brand new relationship, and what finally set me free - Why bracing for impact might actually be a trauma response keeping your Holy Spirit-led online business stuck - The real reason one bad client can wreck your peace as a Christian Woman Entrepreneur , and how to tell if it's something deeper - What my dad's five-year timeline to "calm down" after retirement taught me about the real cost of staying unhealed - Why leaders are held back by unhealed pain (not lack of strategy), and what breaking through the ceiling actually looks like as a faith-based online business owner GET STARTED TODAY Come heal, so you can lead. Join us for the Women Who Arise Online Business Summit on Tuesday, September 29th.

Speaker A: Hey. Hey, ladies. Welcome to today's episode. We're going to be chatting about why healing is literally like the key that unlocks the next level in your business. So it's going to be good. I can't wait. Let's go. Are you a holy spirit led woman called to build a faith based online business that disrupts the culture, sets people free and leaves a legacy for the generations? If so, welcome to the Set Apart online Business podcast. The podcast for Christian coaches, course creators, entrepreneurs and ministry leaders who are ready to scale to six and seven figures without compromising their calling. And all while building set apart families and set apart businesses. I'm your Host, Ashley June, MBA 7 figure business coach, homeschool mama of three and founder of Eden the Mastermind and the Salah Collective group coaching program. I help women like you launch, grow and scale biblically based online businesses that create income, impact and kingdom legacy in less time. I'm talking five to 15 hours a week. You can build a life of freedom for your family through building generational wealth and all while having fun. So yes, ladies, I am often surfing in Costa Rica or sneaking away on ski trips in our beautiful Colorado mountains with my little crew. Here we talk about business strategy, funnels, sales, launching, scaling, motherhood, culture and the holy spirit edge of entrepreneurship. Because building a set apart online business means stepping into the business battlefield with boldness, discernment and the armor of God. Because God has set you apart and you don't have to build your online business like the world. So. So grab your electrolytes or reheat that same cup of coffee for the third time and let's step into today's episode with big visions and radical boldness. Let's go girls. Okay, ladies. Oh my goodness. I'm m actually really excited to be on here today, partially because it has been a minute. It has been a minute. I. You know, this is probably one of the few times that I have not been quite as consistent with podcasting. I've been podcasting since January 2021, you know, so gosh, is that like five and a half years? And I have had podcast episodes come out almost every single week for that entire time. Right. Um, I definitely have slowed down my summer schedule a little bit. I have gone through a couple chunks where maybe I just wasn't on as much for like a month or two, but I have been like religiously consistent and, um, I've been rebuilding some backend things, worked really hard on some stuff this summer. And at the end of the day, you know, I Love podcasting and I hate being out of like my normal rhythm, but I felt like I needed to kind of like allot that business energy and that brain energy into some of the other day to day things that I was doing. And summer, you know, it's over. We're heading into quarter four. Um, I kind of preloaded my sales season. I rent. I ran through a big live event last month called the Set Apart Lunch University. It was our first time running this live cohort. It was amazing. Amazing. We built out essentially like a new segment of our program, the Salo Collective, which, which I can't uh, wait to announce to you guys coming up soon. Um, but some implementation and installation aspects of that. But now we're actually preparing for our Women who Arise summit coming up. And so we are going to have an all day Summit on Tuesday, September 29th with 13 plus speakers ladies. And these women are women who are ready to help you heal. Um, it's so fun because God just like highlights, you know, these themes, you know, like kind of what's going on theme wise. And I just felt like there was something about healing that was not only coming to arise within the vision of this event, but I've just been noticing different elements of this in my life too. And so I'm kind of excited to talk about that because I think at the end of the day like, like healing is a business growth strategy and no one is really talking about that. Like it's really like the strategy that's going to help you get to the next level. And so ladies, uh, get registered for Women who Arise. You guys are going to he hear from incredible um, speakers and it's going to be very um, inner healing focused. Right. So so many of our speakers are coming on it from that perspective. Um, it's going to be less business, you know, tactical, tangible things this time around, but it's going to be really focused on like healing and like tending to the heart of the woman who is in leadership and leading a business or leading a ministry. Right. So um is for the women who are ready to heal so they can lead. And I, I honestly like, I just can't wait. So go ahead, get registered. The link is in the show notes for that but we will see you on that day. But I wanted to also kind of talk about healing because interestingly enough I feel like there have been a couple. I don't even know how to like what I would call it exactly, but I feel like in the recent weeks, m. Month. Month or so that I have had Some, like, triggers pop up, right? And I don't know what it is, but, like, sometimes you think, oh, I'm over something, or, you know, like, I've moved on, enough time has passed and all of it, and then something comes to sift you or test you or, like, something is unearthed, right? And like I said, I've had, like, a couple of these instances pop up in the last, like, month or so, and it's not bad, but it's challenging me. Think differently. And honestly, kind of like, think about what God wants to use me for. You know, the next level just comes, like, when you let it all go. Like, we can't hold on to the bitterness, we can't hold on to the pain. We can't hold on to all these things that, you know, we're ruminating about every day, right? And there's a lot of elements of, like, mind, body and spirit healing that we really need to walk into to kind of, like, fully put this to bed, right? Fully move on, you know, from these things. And one of the reasons that we're going to be doing the women who are Rise summit is because I know that there are so many women out there who just, like, need healing, and you guys are exhausted and tired and hopeless and hope is deferred and, you know, like, you just need to win, right? Like, and you just. You just want to feel like the world is not always so hard, right? And to be honest, I. I feel like I personally, this last year was a very hard, like, emotional year or something, and something like a fog or just like a. Something I just felt like I couldn't kick or get out of. And, you know, it has kind of felt like my joy has been a little bit, like, suppressed or something. And a piece of me honestly thinks that, like, it. It could have kicked off with, you know, honestly, like, the deep grief that we experienced last year with, like, the passing of Charlie Kirk. Um, I mean, I'm. I'm still like, what I think about him. I just. I want cry. Like, I, um. I'm still so affected by that. There's, like, a deep cut in my soul, you know, over that. And I can't believe it's been a year, right? Like, I can't believe it's been a year. But I think the grief and I think the. The deep sorrow from that, which is so unexplainable to some extent. Like, I didn't even know him, right? Like, it just. But it just, uh. It got me in the spirit, right? And just the deep, deep sorrow That I have felt like. I. I think it is something that bled into 2026 and has been like a, like, kind of like a source of oppression or like something hanging over me with that. Right. Um, and so, you know, last year it was like everyone was like, oh, we're going into 2026. It's going to be amazing. Yada, yada yada, right? Like, we're looking forward to the fall and the harvest, and. And then we were hit with just the biggest impact, right? Like, it reminds me of that movie, like, Deep Impact, you know, a big wave. Didn't that one have like a big wave or like, you know, and it brought us into this mode of just feeling like we have to like, brace, right? And so, like, nervous system wise, spirit wise, all these things. Like, I think I've been in a place of just bracing for the next thing, And I think 2026 has kind of been running like that for me, like, bracing for impact. Right. And I'm kind recognizing that, like, this is a survival response that I'm sort of having. Um, and I mean, a lot of it's in business, right? Um, of course there's things that pop up in family, right? Um, friendships, you know, different things like that. But like just this overall feeling of having to brace. And I just feel like, you know, maybe what God's doing by bringing up triggers and different things and having us kind of process those emotions and those feelings and those beliefs and, you know, I, um. I think it has to some extent be keeping us out of, like, getting to that next level. Right. And I just think that we're going to come into a season of like, breaking through the ceiling. And it almost feels scary to like, even hope for that or think about that again. Um, because when you feel hurt and hopeless and you have deep grief and deep sorrow, it feels like, dangerous and risky to hope for something better. Right. Um. And so I feel like I've been having a lot of conversations with God about this kind of like. Like, when is it just, like, when are. When are things just going to feel light again? Right? And so when these things are coming up and you keep hitting the ceiling, it's kind of like a pattern which then you kind of go into your thought life, right? When I think about this situation or this person, xyz, like a thought and a feeling starts to come up. And I think for me, post Covid, um, just other things, you know, Like, I think I've been hurt by so many people and things that, like, sometimes you develop a apathy so like, you don't have to feel or like have some like, relational disconnect, all of it. Because like, feeling feels dangerous, right? And it feels scary. And so you get into this mode where then like you wake up and you're like, like, I can't be happy about anything, but I can't be sad about anything to some extent, right? Like it's, you know, there's things happening in your brain, in your spirit, in your nervous system and your body, right? All of it where like you're starting to have like these reactions or these emotions. And when you keep experiencing that and you're not breaking through the ceiling, right, then you're going to keep kind of hitting these places of getting stuck, right? But a lot of it comes with actually having awareness of what is going on. Like, I think that's huge, right? Like when it hits you, like having an awareness. I was actually talking to one of my best friends the other day and she's like a licensed counselor and she's actually going through um, somatic training for something, but like an intent certification. And it's not like woo woo, hippie type somatic stuff. It's like actual like mind, body, brain connection and these different things. And um, we were kind of talking about how so like you can, you can know something in your mind, like a fact, but then your body kind of, you know, experiences something different. And so we were talking about a situation that she experienced that because she heard something, um, happen. She thought XYZ thing was going to happen to her. Even though she knew logically it wouldn't happen. She like, her body kind of took in that emotion. Um, and I think that we have a lot of these things that we don't really know how to deal with sometimes, you know, um, impartially. And I'm not going to blame like the Christian faith because it's so good. Like we have to really have our thought life in, in accordance, you know, like to the mind of Christ and stuff. But sometimes we kind of gaslight ourselves, you know, like, oh, I'm okay, I'm okay, I'm okay. And then we don't actually like go deal with the thing that's like making us not okay, right? Um, and then you're having a physical response to these things. Um, and so anyways, you know, this actually kind of reminds me, I had a situation, um, last year where one of my friendships went a little bit sour and this person began like twisting my words on me, right? And if you know me, I'm like, I Mean what I say. Like, I'm very, like, direct and. Or, like, I don't play games with people, right? And so for me, that was, like, really hard. Like, I'm like, I'm telling you exactly xyz, and you're taking a completely different meaning out of it. That's, like, not based on the truth. Um, and anyway, like, I think that this friendship was actually kind of a toxic friendship. And I think that this person was actually kind of, like, um. Honestly, like, a little bit emotionally abusive just with how I was being treated. Um, and I've seen it happen to other people. And, um, anyway, like, inside of this, like, I went into a new friendship recently, and I noticed myself, like, over apologizing about something that I didn't even need to apologize for. And this new friend kind of called me on it. She was like, did you just apologize for that? And I was like, you know what? I totally did. Uh, and, um, I think it was because of this. Like, I think it's, you know, like, I think I had been starting to realize that beneath the surface, some things were kind of popping up. I had some trauma from this past friendship, you know? Um, and, you know, like, I went into a new friendship with that lens of, like, oh, my gosh, like, if I don't say something perfectly or, you know, someone's gonna just misunderstand me, and then, like, I have to make sure that doesn't happen. Right. Um, when, at the same time, the truth is, like, you know, some people just twist words on people because they have their own trauma and they have their own, you know, mental health things going on or whatever that might be. Um, but it got me in a mode of, like, kind of, like jumping into Fear of Man a little bit, which I feel like I kicked Fear of man in 2020. Um, at the same time, sometimes you, like, don't. Like, sometimes, like, you kick something and you're good, but then you get nervous to kind of, like, re. Like, let's, like, retest that belief, I guess we could say, because you knew. You knew how painful it was to go experience it the first. Right? Um, and so I think I've noticed myself kind of, um. I don't know if losing my voice is the right word, but I've kind of been, like, toning it down a little bit. Um, and I've had a harder time finding my voice in recent. And recent, you know, like, in the last year or something, because I'm kind of exhausted by a lot of just the polarization and all of it. You know, But I think I also have just kind of been needing to heal and have just, just been in kind of like some grief, you know. And so anyways, um, it was so interesting to me in this situation where I was like, wow, like I'm like kind of reacting in a trauma response, you know, and. But that's like, not really what God wants of us. Like, he wants us to have freedom. And so when I kind of realized this, it actually like kind of set me free from feeling like, oh, I had to be so cautious or like, you know, I have to be so, uh, perfectly buttoned up all the time or something like that, you know. And um, it's, it's just kind of a relief, to be honest. Um, so anyways, where I'm really going with this though, you guys, is that like, like your business is going to actually be hindered, like when you're not healed and you know, your body, your mind, your spirit, like you're always going to be bracing for impact or you're going to be like over apologizing and over, you know, I don't know, over fixing things, right? Like, as a response of like being unhealed. So from a business perspective, like let's say like you have a bad client and believe me, ladies, there's out there, they're out there. I like to say you have one client a year that makes you want to quit. Um, now I don't know if I have them that often and stuff, but you know, when you work with hundreds and hundreds of people, like you have, you're going to have some bad eggs and they're going to make your life hard sometimes. Um, and anyways, but like, let's say you have a bad client or like a bad interaction and because of that, every time you pick your phone up, you feel anxiety, right? Cuz you're like, oh, what email is going to come in, what complaint, what you know, all of it, right? Um, and that's actually an issue. Like that is a trauma response that needs to be healed, right? Like that's something that like you need healing over, right? Like you have to like unpack it. And you know, it kind of makes me think so. My dad said after he retired from running his business, it took him five years to calm down, um, which is a really long time. And you know, I mean, I think we're like so much more educated on the things that we can do to heal, right? Not only in the mind, not only in the spirit, but especially even more so on the, the body or when it comes to, like, the body element, you know? And, um, just think about how much time, like, you waste by just, like, not walking into healing, right? And so. And think about, like, how good it would feel to like, not walk around with triggers all the time and not, like, bracing for impact and what could happen. And I also see this in my ladies who are in those beginning business phases, right, where they're launching their businesses and they're so scared to make any kind of investment because they might lose it. You know, whether it's coming into a coaching program or spending money on Facebook ads or something like that. Like, they're so scared to do anything that they just sit in paralysis, right? Well, guys, like, nothing good is going to come out of sitting in paralysis, you know, Nothing good is going to come out of that. No breakthrough is going to come out of it. No, um, no overcoming is going to come out of that, right? Um, and so just think about what would happen if you could heal the areas that are keeping you stuck and, like, rise up and, like, what God has called you to lead, right? Because leaders, like, they're not being held back by the unhealed, like, unhealed areas of themselves, right? And we're never going to perfectly arrive, right? But in the times where I have stepped out of my pain and I have gone into, like, what God has called me to do, right? Those have been the times where I just feel like my leadership has been, I don't know, like, so on fire, right? And. And then you don't realize, like, over time, sometimes you kind of like, some more baggage, right? Some more baggage kind of comes on you and you gotta go, like, clean it up, right? It's like, it's a maintenance process. Like, like, healing is like an everyday thing, right? And sometimes you have a little bit more baggage and sometimes you have a little bit less. Like, it kind of comes in those waves to some extent, right? Well, honestly, guys, this is, you know, so much of what the Women who are Rise Summit is going to be about. You guys are going to hear from amazing women who are out there building Kingdom businesses that are designed to help you heal. Um, and I can't just wait to highlight all of these incredible women. We're going to have an inner healing session. Um, we're going to be talking about leadership, like, so many stories. Oh, my gosh, it's going to be so good, right? Um, and this is also kind of what I'm talking about today, ladies. Like, this is also one of the reasons that I created the sanctuary that's like our online business, um, monthly online retreat. I call it like our online business wellness club. Um, it's the place where you guys come in and you get, you know, the nervous system regulation and the spiritual encouragement, the soul care, um, and the uh, emotional and mindset healing and the inner healing and deliverance. Like, it's just, it's, it's truly meant to help the woman carry what she has been called to, um, as well as sales help, business strategy, direction, different things. It's kind of like just a great, all encompassing, you know, um, day to day program for your business. And. But the heart behind it was healing. Like we have to heal in order to carry this calling that God, you know, truly gave us. And so all that to say like, let's go heal.
