Five dimensions, 20 points each
This episode breaks down the practical mechanics of low-budget Facebook advertising using the framework of 'one person, one message, one platform.' The host opens his actual ad accounts to demonstrate live, walking through a case study of Brazilian Top Team Jacksonville - a jiu-jitsu school that generated 12-20 new student families in weeks by running $1-3 daily campaigns after years of zero advertising. He shows how ChatGPT can write ad scripts and specify shot lists, how to use Facebook's demographic and location targeting (narrowing to a 5-mile radius around the school, targeting parents aged 30-55 with kids aged 6-12), and crucially, the video metrics: $0.01 per 3-second view, $0.03 per complete view, 2,600 video plays on minimal spend. The host also reveals his own scaling approach: running similar ad strategies for AI for Business summits at $3,000-5,000 daily spend, drawing 23 million impressions. He emphasizes visual hooks (robot dogs, hamster wheels, authentic phone-shot content) over polished agency ads, cites the 'one person empire' trend (MrBeast, Miss Rachel, Ryan Trahan), and shows how one Raymond Aaron book-writing ad - shot on a cell phone - generated 6.5 million views and millions in revenue over four years. Ads are shown across Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok, each with specific ROI metrics and conversion funnels (ad → landing page → webinar → product sale).
Hosted by Brian Hanson. The show scores 55.4/100 on substance across its analysed episodes. See the full show profile.
The Brazilian Top Team example spent only $1-3 per day and generated 12-20 new family sign-ups in 2-3 weeks (compared to 2-3 families per quarter before), using hyper-local targeting and a 30-second video shot on a phone.
Use Facebook's location targeting to draw a 5-mile radius around your business, combine it with demographic targeting (e.g., parents aged 30-55), and add detailed targeting for specific interests or life events (e.g., 'parents of school-aged kids 6-12' or 'homeschooling parents').
Visual hooks that stop the scroll (unusual, authentic moments like a robot dog or a person in a hamster wheel) combined with personality and a clear call-to-action outperform polished ads because they stand out against the 10,000 ads people see daily.
Yes - the Raymond Aaron book-writing ad, shot on a cell phone four years ago, achieved 6.5 million views and generated millions in revenue by driving traffic to a landing page, webinar, and product sale.
YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn all work with the same strategy; TikTok is noted as a 'sleeper' platform with growing reach, and the host ran a $10,000-traffic campaign on TikTok featuring Les Brown that drove a million impressions.
Our reviewer’s read on each dimension, with quotes from the episode.
There are some concrete tactical takeaways - ChatGPT for scripting, hyper-local Facebook targeting, a basic video-to-webinar funnel - but the episode is heavily padded with personal anecdotes, audience call-outs, and tangents about Mr. Beast and Miss Rachel that add little B2B value. The actionable content is buried in a lot of throat-clearing.
I'm going only after this is the targeting, only after parents of school aged kids and 9 to 12...I can put a pin drop to a location and say only one five mile radius of this audience
For $0.03 someone's watching the entire video
The core ideas - visual hooks, personality-driven content, ChatGPT for copywriting, one-person brand - are widely circulated marketing frameworks. Crediting Gary Vee's 'one person empire' article and using Mr. Beast as an example signals recycled rather than first-principles thinking. Nothing presented is counterintuitive or surprising to a practicing marketer.
Gary Vee just actually released an article that was a great article...he talks about the rise of the one person empire
The number one thing that you don't want to do is look like every single ad that you see on the feed
This is a solo live presentation with no meaningful guest - the speaker is effectively self-promoting their own AI for Business Summit throughout. The presenter has real campaign experience at scale, but operates more as a marketing educator and event host than a senior B2B operator who has built something at meaningful scale.
I don't know if our marketing team wants me to show this or not, but that's okay
We're spending upwards of 3 to $5000 a day on ads right now
The episode is one of the stronger aspects here - real ad account screenshots are shown live, CPV figures ($0.01 for 3-second view, $0.03 for full view), total lifetime spend ($80), daily budget ($1-3/day), reach numbers (2,600 plays, 23 million total impressions), and a named funnel outcome (6.5M views → $2,900 product → millions in revenue). However, all data is self-reported and anecdotal with no independent verification.
60, $80 total. The lifetime of this campaign. It's only running about 1 or $2 a day
6.5 million views on a single video that was shot from a cell phone that's unlisted on YouTube
This is a live workshop presentation recorded for a podcast feed - there is no interviewer, no substantive follow-up questions, and no pushback on any claims. Audience interaction is limited to raised-hand prompts and brief confirmations from attendees. The format structurally prevents any conversational craft from emerging.
Who runs ads in this room right now. I'm just curious. Anybody running ads?
Do you know how many families have been there new this last two, three weeks? There's like a ton of new people is what you said
Computed from the transcript - who did the talking, and the words that came up most.
In this live on stage session recorded for AI for Business, the presenter builds a Facebook ad in real time for a local kids jiu jitsu school using ChatGPT, a cell phone, and about $3 a day. The setup is simple: one person, one message, one platform, with ChatGPT writing the script and listing the exact scenes to shoot. From there the session opens the real ad accounts, showing how a $60 to $80 campaign reached parents within five miles of the school, how the same approach scales to millions of impressions, and why a weird visual hook and personal brand beat a polished agency look. If you want to run simple, low budget ads that bring in customers without an agency, this one is for you.

One person, one message, one platform. That's the four pillars of the strategy. I'll open up my actual ad accounts, and I actually want to if it's okay, I want to build an ad lib with you on stage today to show you how easy it is. So one example.
I'll pull this up right now. I my kids are heavy into jujitsu, like heavy, heavy into jujitsu. And we belong to a school called Brazilian Top Team. So it's a big school, but ours is on Hoddesdon Beach Boulevard here.
If anybody wants to drop in and you do that too. You guys are more than welcome to. It's a great place and it's interesting. We've been there for four years and very few new members come in.
They do zero advertising. It's word of mouth. Very few new members have come in and I've been watching this place again. We've been members of the school for four years and they've they've wanted to grow, but they've they've done nothing to grow the school.
It's actually just been along for a long time. So what I did was actually said, hey, let's create an ad for you. Let's not spend a lot of money. Let's create a Facebook ad.
And that's exactly what I did. So let me go and open that up right now. And I created them a simple ad. In fact, my my kids shot it with with us.
My daughter edited it. And I'll show you what that looks like right now. It's another one of these ads, because it's my voiceover that if I'm scrolling around on Facebook late at night and I'm trying to relax, my voice comes up again and I'm like, why do I follow myself around everywhere? But let me show you the ad.
It's maybe 30s. It's very simple. Here it is. What is your child could build real confidence, discipline and strong friendships, all while having fun at Brazilian talking Jacksonville, our kids jujitsu program is designed for all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced to our experienced coaches and supported team.
Create a welcoming environment where every child can grow at their own pace. Brazilian jiu Jitsu helps kids develop focus, respect, confidence and resilience skills that carry into school, in everyday life and for homeschool families. We're proud to be the provider to the simple for Sue the scholarship making training more accessible. Come in for a free three trials a day to see for yourself.
I know your child can build real confidence. My daughter added that that was pretty good, right? Yeah. So yeah, your hand so who wrote the ad?
Does anybody know? Hey, I ChatGPT as soon. It's actually because I'm writing a school. Our school is Brazilian top team Jacksonville.
We're writing an ad to. To do this I need about 30s to 45 seconds for Facebook for a Facebook ad. And I want to make sure that we talk about these certain things specifically that it's a home school scholarship program as well, and we record it and even told us what specific scenes to shoot. So we didn't come in there thinking, oh, we need to have a scene of, of of Zach doing an armbar on Ava or, or a little girl fighting a, another kid.
It actually said, here is the scripts and the scenes to shoot. Have the coach do this, have a child do this, and then put that together scene after scene after scene. And so we came in, we had a few other students come in as well. I had a list of things to shoot.
I used my handycam or a cell phone to shoot it, follow the exact scripts. It took us about an hour because we had to wrangle a bunch of kids together, but that was it. And I want to show you something now. This is the actual ad account for them.
They just started it all the lifetime maximum. How much they've actually spent on this campaign. I'll show you the ad set, like what it is per day on spend. This is inside of Facebook here.
So we spent, 60, $80 total. The lifetime of this campaign. It's only running about 1 or $2 a day. Check this out for three second view, which is all you need to hook somebody in.
And I'll talk about retargeting or that re looping in a second $0.01 per view. Right. And 2600 people played that video.
Right. That video has been played 2600 times just on that one. A through play is actually the majority of. So for $0.
03 someone's watching the entire video. Right. We have this reach in town. I want to show you something else.
Again. We're only spending about $1 a day or $3 on this campaign. So if I go to this one campaign, there's two campaigns here. I'll show you the actual price of this campaign.
I want to show you the targeting. This is really important because I'm not going national on this. I'm zeroing specifically, and it's $3 a day. My audience is 30 to 55 because that would be the parent range of who I'm looking for.
Again, this is the demographics and psychographics that we talked about yesterday. Increase the size of this so you can see a little bit better. I'm going only after this is the targeting, only after parents of school aged kids and 9 to 12. So kids between 6 and 12, because that's exactly who they target on their I also I'm targeting people who might be homeschooling as well because we have a special homeschool program and I can target location.
So there's demographics and my detailed targeting. I can find location here right there. So if I edit this this is really important. I can open this up and I can zero in.
I can put a pin drop to a location and say only one five mile radius of this audience. So it's zeroed in. So that means that one ad has seen by 2000 people who are parents of kids between the ages of 6 to 12, only in a five mile radius. It's a five mile radius, a five mile radius of that school.
That's how zeroed in you can get. Who? Who two runs ads in this room right now. I'm just curious.
Anybody running ads? All right. About half a dozen people right here. Right.
Who wants to run ads in this room? There we go. So now you can get zeroed in on your audience. And what's cool about this is, as I mentioned, I actually Avon's app.
You guys are there. You guys are there every single day of jujitsu, right? How many new families come in before the last month on a monthly basis? Now, before this month?
Yeah. None. Right? Hardly any.
Maybe one, two, three families, a quarter. Do you know how many families? You haven't been there too much. But do you know how many families have been there new this last two, three weeks?
There's like a ton of new people is what you said. So that's teenager for there's been at least a dozen or 20 new families where normally in a quarter they might get 2 or 3 on 3 or $4 a day. What does that do to a business, by the way? Helps it helps it dramatically.
Right. So I really want to stress that you don't need a huge advocate because I'm going to show you some other campaigns. So we do the same exact thing. I'll show you some other campaigns that we run.
So this is let's see, see find one of ours. This is the actual campaign that got many of you here today in our world. Now we spend a lot of money on advertising. So if I go all this here, this is the exact same thing that we do at scale.
So we run these programs for our live virtual events. These are the summits right here. And you can see if I go by impression actually campaigns go by impression. We're driving a lot of traffic.
So some of these things that's that's just a day. So maximum 23 million people have seen our ads. 23 million people have seen our ads using the same exact strategy or similar strategy that we did on $3 a day. When you find something that works, you scale it.
And again, we have lots of videos. So this is our actual ad accounts. I don't know if our marketing team wants me to show this or not, but that's okay. Right?
So we have this one. 100,000 people have seen us playing with our robot dog. Let me try to get it middle of screen for you. Here's the ad.
This is my dog and this is my robot dog. And they talk about jobs being replaced because look, people hate me for this ad, by the way. I got a lot of hate on this one. Well, it's this is my dog and this is my robot dog.
And they talk about jobs being replaced because of AI. And that's exactly what's happening right now. And so if you don't want to be replaced and obsolete, just like this robot dog is doing my real dog over there, that I want you to join us for a free three day virtual summit called AI for Business Summit. It's three days, four hours of training where we talk about AI.
We talk about everything that's happening right now in the marketplace, how you can get competitive edge, how you can get the most out of AI to work in your business, for your marketing, for your Legion. If you're sales for everything that you need to use AI for, even if you think it's over complicated or all the noise that's happening right now, this free three day event is going to walk you through and help you simplify what AI does right now. So go ahead, click the link and join us for this three day event.
It's absolutely free. Well. And it's beat me up right now. Look at that.
Yeah. Is taking over and you do not want to miss out. Go ahead, click the link. Join us on this free day events before AI does the massive take over.
And there you go. It's knocked down. See you there. So over over 100,000 people saw me get beat up by Robot Dog, right.
And got him in the world. And then we have multiple ads again, we're spending upwards of 3 to $5000 a day on ads right now. So I have another video here. This is me.
I'm coming up with stuff in silly places. So this is me in a, you know, hamster wheel. We won't have to watch the whole thing, but does business feel like sometimes you're in a hamster wheel and you're stuck? Well, I know that's a pretty common thing, but with AI, you get unstuck.
You get that hamster wheel, do more with less, with less. People have more time. More. Are these perfect ads?
Absolutely not. They're not perfect ads. But are they consistent? Absolutely, yes.
Do they work because they're written well by a top five ad agency? No. This was us on vacation. I saw, hey, that might be a really cool ad.
Let me go and jump jump in it. And I think I took like 12 sheets on it because I kept getting winded while I was doing it. So I was like breathing and I sweating all over the place because it was hot. But I shot the ad and I got it out and I didn't know if it was going to work, but it worked.
And so I can go through and we just see really simple stuff here. This is man again, kids do jujitsu. This is me doing a jujitsu competition. Hey, principal over here, can I for business?
And I'm here at I DJ yeah. Hand. That's the biggest kids competition for high level kids in Brazilian jiu jitsu. Now what does any of this have to do with AI?
Well, here's the thing. Every single one of these kids started as a waked up. They started knowing absolutely nothing and they put the time in. They put the training.
So let me give you the ad formula behind that too. Who wants that ad formula? Right. What I'm doing in each one of those ads I use a visual hook that's that drives you off of the feet.
The number one thing that you don't want to do is look like every single ad that you see on the feed, because what happens? You can scroll past. Remember, we're fighting single the signal to noise 10,000 advertising that's stopping us. We want to do something completely weird.
We want a robot dog, or a simple walk on the beach, or walking into the hamster, or with the crowd behind us. What can you do? Even if you're walking around? That is a something that stops you from creating that noise, because a lot of ads are either faced on camera or they look like it's developed by an ad agency.
So the more that you can do, that's weird. That's a visual hook. The other thing is I'm just giving a piece of personality because we are I mean, we have the eye for business brand, but would you agree that a lot of it has to do with Brian and my personality in what we do, right? That's a big part of our business.
Gary Vee just actually released an article that was a great article. If you see a Gary Vee, he talks about the rise of the one person empire. Mr. Beast was one of the examples.
I don't if anybody watches Mr. Beast video. He's a top YouTuber in the world. He's 27 years old with $2.
9 billion, all from his YouTube channel. He launched a $5 billion chocolate brand. It's called Mr. Beast's Mr.
Beast Festivals, and it talks about how one person with his brand and his message gets out there, Miss Rachel and Miss Rachel fans in the room. By the way, I don't know if anybody has toddlers or anything like that. Miss Young Felicia. Yeah, miss Rachel has a massive following.
I think she has, 40 million followers, maybe 18 million followers somewhere around there. But she's building this massive brand, talking to toddlers and school aged kids about just making content on that. And that brand has become. You can find her things in toy stores and in target and Line.
Ryan. Ryan. I've read that guy's name. Ryan.
No. He he's a YouTuber that has joyrides. I, I'll remember his name, but, Joy ride is a candy that he created. He's a big, big top YouTuber as well.
He just goes around, he tries hotels, and he's like, he goes, sleeps in hotels and rates them. He goes to flights. Ryan Trahan there we go is actually my favorite one. Yeah Ryan Tran thanks Chelsea.
And he has joyride. It's actually one of the top three candy companies in the world right now. How do you do that? He said, all my followers who watch me go to target buy joyride.
Now, I'm not saying start a candy company. What I'm saying is use your contents to get found and use these ads to leverage your content to expand your content. I'll show you one of the campaign. This is actually really interesting.
I know there's a few people who came into this world because of Raymond Aaron who came in. I know Billy's in here. You found us through Raymond, right? I don't know if anybody else has a few others.
Right. Check this out. I've been working with Raymond for over ten years. This guy's, We've we have a great relationship.
I'm. He's one of the few people I still personally consults, but this is a ad I created. I want I do want you to watch this ad because everybody can create this. Right?
Raymond, I think is, How old is he now? Is 82 years old now. But watch this ad radically increase your brand, which is for you. I want to know if you'd like to write a book, your own book, and only ten weeks using a proven technique that makes it so simple and have it published in that time, which will create or dramatically increase your read, which will I don't know if anybody can hear the wind in the background.
Can you tell this wasn't a professionally created video? Can you tell that was shot on the cell phone was probably, yeah, this is from four years ago, but watch this. It's an unlisted video. How many millions of views is on that video?
Anybody read that? 6.5 million views on a single video that was shot from a cell phone that's unlisted on YouTube? How do we do that?
We drove ads. For the last four years, this one video has made millions of dollars in revenue. You watch the ad, you click on the button under the ad, you go to a webinar, you're this landing page, this one landing page, exactly right here. You watch a webinar on that webinar.
He sells a product. I think it's about $2,900. And from that he sells other programs that are upward past that same exact thing. It's very, very simple.
It's an incredibly simple process. We use the same exact thing in our marketing as well. That's I showed you Facebook, I showed you YouTube, Bernard showed you LinkedIn. This is our actual account that we run right now.
TikTok. Anybody on TikTok in the room? All right, I love TikTok. TikTok, by the way, is a sleeper in terms of paid advertising.
So if you're not doing paid advertising on TikTok, its reach is getting huge. This is a campaign that we ran. Let me show you the ad. Really simple ad.
It's a celebrity based ad. I think this one was with less brown on an event that we do with less. But it's super simple. So let me show it to you.
We're going to do a major disruption and disruptions requires transformation. And you have been encouraging. And it's a 59 second ad shot from a phone where he's sitting down sharing some wisdom. And this one particular ad, we drove $10,000 in traffic on it.
We got a million impressions on it. And that was a million impressions, because it's a million impressions as we drove traffic to it. And from this they click on a button, they go to an iPod to. So that's finding strangers, moving them down the line and creating a relationship.
That's a wrap for this episode of the AI for business podcast. If you enjoyed it, don't forget to hit subscribe and pass it along to a friend or colleague. We appreciate you being here and we'll catch you in the next one.
