Five dimensions, 20 points each
This solo episode offers a practical, body-centered methodology for discerning truth amid contradictory narratives and deliberate misinformation. Rather than engaging in philosophical debate about the nature of truth, Becker-Hill presents a guided somatic exercise designed to shift listeners from fear-based, stress-triggered brain states (where manipulation and brainwashing are most effective) into grounded, body-aware states where an innate truth-sensing capacity becomes accessible. The core premise is that knowledge and truth-detection occur through the body, not the intellect - a concept drawn from neuroscience and embodied cognition. The episode walks listeners through spatial awareness and orientation work, then guides them to consciously feel the kinesthetic difference between focusing on a known truth (e.g., their own name) versus an obvious falsehood. Becker-Hill emphasizes that repeated practice trains this sense, eventually enabling practitioners to evaluate media, political speeches, or conflicting scientific claims by simply checking their body's response rather than outsourcing judgment to trusted authorities. She connects this skill to democratic resilience, arguing that fear-driven populations are vulnerable to authoritarian manipulation and that accessing personal truth-sensing capacity is foundational to both individual empowerment and societal health during times of misinformation and political polarization.
Close your eyes, ground yourself in a safe space by noticing your connection to the ground and surroundings, then focus your attention on something you know to be absolutely true (like your name) and notice the kinesthetic sensation - warmth, expansion, or localized tingling. Then consciously shift your attention to an obvious falsehood and sense the contrasting sensation - tension, coldness, or dissonance. Repeated practice sharpens this distinction.
Fear triggers your brain into high-alert, stress-dominated states where your ability to sense clearly diminishes - similar to how stress makes you unable to taste individual herbs in soup. In this state, your truth-detecting capacity is overridden, making you vulnerable to manipulation and brainwashing.
No - Becker-Hill explicitly cautions against practicing the full exercise while driving. However, once trained through repeated practice at home, you can eventually do simplified versions with your eyes open in public without anyone noticing.
This phrase, drawn from embodied cognition, means that your deepest knowing and discernment capacity exists through somatic (body-based) sensation and awareness, not through intellectual analysis or information alone - your body's kinesthetic feedback is a legitimate and reliable source of truth-detection.
Print out or read competing articles or claims, then enter a grounded, calm body state and ask your body which source aligns with truth - your body will register the difference through kinesthetic sensation, allowing you to detect BS, conspiracy framing, or empowering accuracy regardless of the source's credentials.

The episode is almost entirely a guided meditation/grounding exercise padded with spiritual framing; the central 'insight' - that your body is a lie detector - is asserted without evidence and has no applicability to B2B operations. There are essentially zero actionable business ideas per minute.
what if you have inside yourself a truth or lie detector
You don't need a PhD in philosophy to understand what's true or not
The body-based truth detection concept is a repackaging of somatic awareness and kinesiology ideas that have circulated in wellness and coaching circles for decades; no contrarian, first-principles, or counterintuitive business thinking is present.
the access to truth is not in your intellectual mind
knowledge takes place in the body
This is a solo host episode with no guest at all; the host is a personal empowerment coach whose stated credentials are attending a coaching conference in Munich and having studied philosophy - no practitioner-at-scale B2B experience is demonstrated.
I was one of the breakout speakers and keynote speakers
I studied philosophy and the question what is true is one of the foundational questions
The episode contains almost no named companies, metrics, or verifiable data; the only 'specifics' are personal anecdotes such as pandemic weight gain and a father's restaurant seating habits, none of which constitute evidence for the core claims.
Science has proven that we have many more senses
I ate way too much during the pandemic. I have my highest weight gain in my whole life in a short amount of time
This is an uninterrupted solo monologue with no guest, no questions, no follow-ups, and no pushback; the bulk of the runtime is a scripted guided breathing and orientation exercise, not a conversation of any kind.
I beg you not to do that while you drive a car
I do this too. So shake it out, shake the thought out

Spend just a few minutes scrolling social media or watching the news and you'll be bombarded with multiple competing ideas, all advertised as truth. But how do you know if something is true or not? What if you don't need anyone else to tell you what's true? What if you have, inside yourself, a lie detector you can activate at any given moment? Today on Women's Empowerment School, Sylvia is walking us through an exercise for accessing truth in times of lies. She explains why we must get out of fear in order to

Welcome to the Women's Empowered Women's School podcast, where we dismantle the patriarchy and become leaders of tomorrow. I'm Sylvia Becker-Hill, bringing you information, role models and tools of substance, so you can be, do and have everything you ever wanted without sacrifice or compromise. Hello and welcome to the Women's Empowerment School podcast. I'm Sylvia Becker-Hill, your host, and I'm delighted to have you here joining me today for quite an unusual, potentially provocative episode about the access to truth in times of lies.
how do you know something is true or not how can you evaluate two three four five six seven different theories being presented by different people all claiming to know the truth how can you evaluate decide and know which of the seven which are partially or completely contradicting each other is true or not. No worries, this will be not a philosophical discourse here today, even though I studied philosophy and the question what is true is one of the foundational questions throughout human history and philosophy.
This today here will be a very practical episode. And I underline practical. So if you are driving a car right now, you probably will listen to this episode. But in order to do the following exercise where I will teach you, literally teach you physically how to access truth, I beg you not to do that while you drive a car.
Rather, do it later at home or find a safe parking spot because you can do the exercise in your car. As I just promised, I will not go into deep theory. I just give you a bit of framework and then we are going into an exercise which is simple and when you do it the first time you will highly likely do it with your eyes closed and the good thing is with these kind of simple exercises when you do them for a few days when you repeatedly train them to do there will be a moment in time where you can do them in public with your eyes open so no one can see that you're doing it and yet you will reap all the benefits and it's as you know aligned with my commitment my promise to you and here the whole podcast all my work here I'm providing for free now for over two years my promise is to empower you so this is the foundation of this episode I'm giving you something to do something you can implement easily which will train your brain which will train you in accessing literally a sense you have inside yourself yes this is already something most people don't know they think the truth is something you have to think about it has something to do with information or with your intelligence level or with trust and the source of from whom you get information and how much you can trust these people to decipher if what you just heard as an information is the truth or not but what if you don't need anyone else not even trust in the messenger what if you have inside yourself a truth or lie detector what if you in yourself have the power to access in any given moment what is true or what is a lie before we start into the exercise here a bit of framework When we look right now into the world and we see, sadly, so many contradictionary theories and so many, sadly, people, especially politicians, lying to us, I want you to understand that beneath the motivation to lie is nearly, in all cases, as an emotion, the motivator is fear.
so for you to be able to access your own access to truth your own sense your detector of for truth or lies you need to make sure you get out of fear because from a neuroscience perspective when your brain is triggered into feeling fear when your ego wakes up and is on high alert trying to protect you and your life, sadly, the truth goes often out of the window. If you are under high stress, if you are scared to lose your job, if you are scared right now to lose a lot of money, if you're worrying about your own health or the life of a loved one, if your brain is under high pressure, stress, and in fear, it's very easy for other people, sadly, to misuse the state of your mind and to manipulate you, to brainwash you and to tell you all sorts of crazy theories and lies.
So the exercise I'm going to give you, the first effect of that exercise is literally to switch the mode your brain is in, to switch you from stress, from high alert, from fear into a sense of groundedness and safety. Because to access all your inner senses, which sadly in our society, we are not talking about them. We are not teaching them. You probably, if I would ask you, how many senses do you have?
You would probably tell me, oh, that's easy. Five, right? This is what we learn at school. Five.
Yeah, I'm tasting, I'm hearing, I'm seeing, I'm smelling and I'm touching kinesthetically five Well this is a very very short list Science has proven that we have many more senses And one of those senses I call the access to truth or the lie detector It a bit like when you under stress your taste buds you can differentiate Are you right now tasting thyme or rosemary or basilicum in this vegetable soup at the Italian restaurant? When you are stressed, you can maybe only say, oh, I like it or I don't like it, but you can't differentiate the herbs in the soup.
Our ability to differentiate and to sense clearly goes down as more the stress level and fear goes up. So the first step or the first goal intention why I give you the following exercise is to switch your brain mode, to relax yourself and to ground yourself inside yourself in your body. And this is now the second framework for the exercise. the access to truth is not in your intellectual mind like most people think i say that again the access to your truth is not in your intellectual mind the access to truth is through your body and if you are able to see the podcast art i created here for this episode you see a photo an image of visualization from a conference I had attended in Munich, Bavaria a few years ago, a coaching conference where we had some visualization graphic facilitators from Italy creating a beautiful, huge wall mural.
And at the end of the conference, we participants and speakers, I was one of the breakout speakers and keynote speakers, we could take literally pieces of this wall mural home with us. So I asked to get the shape of the body with this gorgeous, powerful quote written on it, knowledge takes place in the body. I say that again, knowledge takes place in the body. I must admit at that time, a few years ago, I was not even fully understanding that sentence, but it hit me intuitively so strongly.
And I have it ever since here in my office. And when I'm sitting at my desk, I look at it over my desktop here over my screen and I see it standing at the wall. But that's another story how I got this from Munich here to Southern California. Let's stay focused.
So let's start the exercise. So I hope you are in a safe place right now, not driving. Even if you're in a car or at home, it doesn't matter. I want you to allow yourself, as long as you're safe and not maneuvering any machinery, to close your eyes.
Take a few deep breaths. And I'm doing it here right now with you. I'm having my eyes closed as well. And allow your attention to go inward.
Feel how your chair or your seat or your sofa is carrying your body's weight. Feel how your feet are touching the floor, how your whole body is connected with the ground and through the floor flooring through that and space ultimately connected with our planet with mother earth and just take a few moments to use your own breath to come with your attention into yourself just keep a tiny bit on my voice so that you can follow along but other than that allow yourself to relax inside yourself and now when you sense you are there you are in your body more than in than in your mind I want you to open your eyes and look in front of you see either the wall or the window or the space and if it's your car your windshield what's look what's in front of you see what is there and see consciously what is there and how you are situated in space in relation to what's in front of you take a deep breath and now look to the right over your right shoulder and see what is there is there a wall another window, is there a furniture or another person.
See what is there and how you are situated in space in relationship to what is there. Take a deep breath, come back to center and turn now your head over your left shoulder and look towards the left and see what's there. Is there a wall, a door, a window, furniture, art, other people? What is there?
Recognize that, take a deep breath and come back to the center. Now, if you physically can, please turn around and look towards your back, towards the back of the space you are in. What is there? Is there a wall, a window, a door, furniture?
What is there? This is a very important direction because by evolution, our brain is hardwired to always seek safety in our back. Certain people, my father was one of those, he would not accept a table in a restaurant if it was in the middle of the room and his seat was not against the outer wall of that restaurant. space of the restaurant room, he would not sit down because he needed for his sense of safety, probably an effect of his PTSD from the Second World War, he needed always the wall behind his back.
I can't tell you how many funny and sometimes embarrassing situations, especially from my mom we had when I was young and he insisted on that, sometimes us leaving a restaurant. so look towards the back and see what is there and how you relate in space to what is there and also see that you safe that there is not anyone standing behind you thanks god with a gun pointing towards you or any other dangerous situation no fires hopefully so look towards the back see what there take a deep breath come back to the center and as the last two directions look with your eyes and your head without straining your neck towards the ceiling or if you are outside upward towards the sky and see what's there, what's above you and how you are relating to that in space.
Take a deep breath in and out and now look down, look towards your feet, how your feet are touching the ground. Look what's there. Is there a floor? Is there a carpet or are you outdoors?
Is there sand? Is there maybe wonderful green grass? What's there? Take a deep breath.
being aware how you are relating in space to the ground you're on and become aware how you feel now how you are centered inside your body how you know where you are in your body in regards to the space around you and now let's activate your awareness for your access to truth for your lie detector. And maybe at the first time when we are doing this here together, it doesn't work very clearly or not at all or not very strong. I beg you to stay open and train and do this exercise multiple times in the next days, because I promise you as more often you do that as more you will train your sense of truth your access to truth and your lie detector which are just different names and labels for more or less the same sense so sitting or standing where you are right now being now with your attention fully inside yourself settled in your body knowing that you are safe in the space you are in right now take a few deep breaths and think of something which you 100% know is true, something no one would ever dispute you about.
Maybe you think about your own legal name. In my case, I'm Sylvia Becker-Hill. I know for sure that this is true. So think about something like your name where there is no doubt, where it's absolutely clear that this is true.
Think about that and feel, feel in your body how it feels when your attention is on a truth. Where do you feel that? Is it a warm feeling spreading throughout your body? Is it maybe more localized?
A certain sensation in your forehead or something in your belly, in your solar plexus, how does it feel in your body when your attention beam is on a truth? When you think you can sense that, the kinesthetic sensation, the internal sensation inside your body connected with the sensation and knowing, oh, this is true, try to make that sensation that experience stronger and more clear so that you can really distinguish it from any other kinesthetic sensations like being hungry right now or constipated or a bit cold or or hungry or impatient with me of not getting faster along with the exercise whatever it is make sure you can clearly feel and distinguish how does it feel inside your body when your attention beam is on something you know to be true.
Got it? Great. So now take a deep breath, shake your arms, your shoulders a bit. I do this too.
So shake it out, shake the thought out, shake the sensation, the kinesthetic feelings in your body, shake them out, shake, shake, shake. And now think about something which is obviously incorrect, obviously not true, something undisputably not true. For example, it could be again now you think about your name and you think about a wrong name. So in my case, instead of me thinking my name is Sylvia Becker-Hill, I think about my name is Cheryl Smith.
My name is Cheryl Smith. And I repeat that thought several times in my mind, putting my full attention on this obvious lie, incorrectness, this non-truth, and I sense into my body, I feel in my body, how does my body changes to that? How does my inner kinesthetic sense inside my body, what changed? Do I feel now maybe some tension, some tightness?
Do I feel somewhere some coldness? Is it more localized then instead of from head to toe is it maybe in my throat or my my my tongue getting dry what's happening when my attention is on a lie and my mind tries to subconsciously create some kind of alignment or creates wants to get rid of the dissonance it experiences right now because for the brain especially the subconscious mind lies and and things which are not aligning with each other, they create some stress. They create a discord, a dissonance.
And our system tries so desperately to create resonance with each other and alignment. This is one reason why people sadly, when they are scared and stressed, are so vulnerable for manipulation and brainwashing. And when someone comes with another ridiculous theory, but somehow it bridges the gap between the previous two we love to believe that just in order to get out of the uncomfortability of being in dissonance this is such a dangerous state in ourselves and historically right now politically economically globally such a challenging dangerous time we all are prone to grasp for the what the word lifeline of seeming things be more true than others just to get out of uncomfortable feelings so part of the exercise here i'm offering you part of the training is to train yourself to be with uncomfortable sensations in your own body because if you are always seeking immediately to get out of uncomfortability you override literally your sense of truth your lie detector and you force your body literally to lie to you.
You are covering up, you are numbing. And this is something I know I'm sometimes guilty of. We can do it with food. I ate way too much during the pandemic.
I have my highest weight gain in my whole life in a short amount of time. And I know it had to do with numbing uncomfortable sensations in my body, uncomfortable messages and information my body tried to get to me. So with your attention again on the thought you know is untrue, it's a lie, how does a lie feel in your body? And when you can grasp it, expand that feeling deliberately even if it's uncomfortable.
Train yourself to be with uncomfortable feelings. I promise you, you will not die from it. It's not dangerous. It's just a bit uncomfortable for a few moments here.
But it helps you to learn to distinguish what your access to truth and your lie detector is. It trains you to be able to distinguish inside yourself when someone talks to you if that person is giving you bullshit or a truth. You know that or better your body knows that. Knowledge takes place in the body.
You have every moment of your life you can create access inside yourself to the truth. You just need to do a bit of self-management. You sometimes need to calm down first. You sometimes need to switch your brain from high alert stress fear mode into a body-centered relaxed calm peaceful grounded mode of existence shake shake shake yourself again shake out the lie shake out all the uncomfortable feelings in your body and stretch yourself or allow yourself to yawn.
Yawning is so healthy. It gives your body oxygen and that makes your body more capable of distinguishing between truth and lies. That's it. Yes, it's that easy.
You don't need a PhD in philosophy to understand what's true or not. you don't need other people to tell you what's true or not thanks to the internet you can research anything and everything and if you find contradictory articles about the same thing for example mask wearing or not mask wearing well read them print them out put them side by side and then do the exercise. Ask your body, which of the two articles is your BS? Which one comes from some kind of wacko conspiracy theorist?
Which one is true? Which one is empowering you? Which one is the correct one? I promise you, your body knows.
Knowledge takes place in the body. and access to truth and times of lies is so crucial you are empowering your leadership and your responsibility as a citizen right now because not only in the united states everywhere in the world right now because there is so much fear caused by the pandemic so many countries right now are in danger to lose hard fought for progress in democracy by more and more authoritarian politicians being on the rise brainwashing and manipulating people who are in fear and i hope you get this from this podcast episode our first job is to be kind and compassionate with ourself when we are in fear and to get our minds and our brains out of fear mode as fast as possible because under fear it is so easy to manipulate us to sell us lies and to do with us things which are destructive for our society's economy and sadly right now even for our lives that's it for today i hope you enjoyed the exercise even though there were some uncomfortable moments.
I so would love to hear from you what you think, what you experienced. And please remember one of my big mottos here in the Women's Empowerment School, my information doesn't provide your transformation, your engagement does.
