Stephanie Pierolo delivers a brief but heartfelt announcement that The Bad Boss Brief podcast is temporarily suspending production following co-host Eugene's stroke during the Fourth of July weekend. While Eugene is hospitalized and oriented with family present, he's currently experiencing speech difficulties that prevent him from participating in the show. Pierolo, who has known Eugene for nearly 40 years and created the show as a vehicle for their friendship and workplace conversations, made the decision to pause rather than continue without him. The episode serves as an update for the show's audience rather than a typical episode, with Pierolo expressing optimism about Eugene's recovery and sending support to Eugene, his wife, and their family. For listeners invested in the hosts' dynamic and the show's format centered around their long-standing relationship, this represents a temporary interruption rather than a permanent end.

Key takeaways

  • →Eugene suffered a stroke over the Fourth of July weekend but is conscious, oriented, and recognized by family members.
  • →Stephanie Pierolo will not continue producing The Bad Boss Brief without Eugene, prioritizing their 40-year friendship over maintaining the show's regular schedule.
  • →The hiatus is intended to be temporary, with plans to resume once Eugene recovers enough to participate in the podcast.

Speaker A: This is Stephanie Pierolo and this is not the Bad Boss Brief because Eugene is not here. As ah, some of you may have heard, Eugene had a stroke over the fourth of July weekend. He's okay, he's in the hospital, he is oriented, knows who everybody is, but he's having trouble speaking, so he's not in the position to do any kind of podcast, at least for a while. Since Bad Boss Brief was an excuse for me to talk with my friend of almost 40 years about work and everything else, I don't want to do the show without him. So we're going to have a hiatus, hopefully a brief one, until Eugene can join us again. In the meantime, we're sending all sorts of love and healing energy to Eugene, his wife and his family and hope to see you soon. And for those of you watching this rather than listening, here's a picture of Eugene from his hospital bed flipping everybody off, which I just found very reassuring.
