Hosted by Now of Work Digital Meetup
Now, more than ever, the workplace needs to bend to the workforce, not the other way around. The concept of the Digital Workplace has become real and more than likely forever. How does the combination of the new model of work blend with the work we have been doing from an HR perspective?

NOW of Work ranks #2949 on The B2B Podcast Index with a substance score of 62.0 out of 100, scored across 1 recent episode. It scores highest on specificity & evidence and originality. The UK graduate vacancy statistic is the episode's strongest concrete data point and is genuinely striking. Beyond that, the specificity is thin - conversion rates, employer response timelines, and AI tool effectiveness are discussed only in vague percentage terms with no named companies or dollar figures.
Averaged across 1 recently scored episode, with cited evidence.
The first third of this 61-minute episode is almost entirely personal anecdotes, community housekeeping, and emotional Mercer farewells, severely diluting the insight-per-minute ratio. The substantive content on AI in hiring and job search strategy is real but compressed into roughly 20 minutes and leans on well-worn themes.
“I am in a. Um. Beautiful. I was thinking about whether or not I should give hints. I'm in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Anley's spring. Spring break week.”
“you should be spending no more than 5% of your time applying for jobs”
The 'adversarial flywheel' framing between AI applicants and AI screeners is a genuinely crisp articulation of a real dynamic, and the argument that AI is rolling hiring back toward pre-digital network bias is counterintuitive and interesting. Most other content - network beats applications, zoom in/zoom out, be human - is recycled.
“we've actually, in fact, infantilized us to a significant degree”
“I actually believe that we need to break the education system uh, significantly at a much earlier age. In other words, I think at 13, 14, um, every kid should spend three months of the year working in a paid internship”
Hung is clearly well-connected and thoughtful within the recruiting ecosystem, but by his own admission has not made a placement in over a decade and describes his current role as 'ecosystem support person' - placing him firmly in the thought-leader commentator category rather than an active practitioner at scale.
“I'm still a recruiter. I mean I psychologically still identify up every morning and think, yeah, I'm a recruiter. Even though the truth is I haven't sort of sent a, ah, resume uh, in anger in over 10, 15 years or so”
“My role is pretty much like an ecosystem support person now I think”
The UK graduate vacancy statistic is the episode's strongest concrete data point and is genuinely striking. Beyond that, the specificity is thin - conversion rates, employer response timelines, and AI tool effectiveness are discussed only in vague percentage terms with no named companies or dollar figures.
“the UK as, just to use an example here, kind um, of had a record low 10,000 job vacancy, under 10,000 job vacancies in February for graduate, graduate students. The UK graduates 500,000 people a year.”
“you should be spending no more than 5% of your time applying for jobs”
The hosts occasionally land a useful clarifying follow-up, but the conversation is repeatedly hijacked by long host-side anecdotes (the yoga instructor story, the Ainsley spring break narrative) and there is zero pushback or challenge to any of Hung's claims. The green-yellow-red check-in and community admin consume significant airtime.
“Jason, would you just explain what you mean by that? A very low percentage of conversion.”
“Uh, we've got some really cool announcements today as part of the 300 as well, that we'll get to in a second. But, yeah, I, I don't know what I've done 300 times.”
