After seven and a half years of consistent content creation, the host of The Proffitt Podcast is stepping away for the remainder of 2025, acknowledging the toll that regular podcast production has taken on his life. While he doesn't specify the exact reasons, he describes feeling that a pause is necessary and that he may return renewed or potentially in a different format in 2026. This announcement prioritizes transparency with his audience, whom he credits for their loyalty across weekly episodes, months, and years of community building. Rather than leaving listeners without resources, he directs them to the extensive archive: over 500 episodes of The Proffitt Podcast itself, plus the Potty Report (a three-year daily podcast), and a YouTube channel with content covering podcasting, YouTube channels, email lists, and course creation. The host remains accessible via email and Instagram during the hiatus, emphasizing this is a difficult but necessary decision for his well-being.

Key takeaways

  • →Content creators should prioritize personal well-being and be willing to take breaks from regular production schedules, even after years of consistency.
  • →Maintaining audience trust requires transparent communication about hiatuses and clear direction to existing resources rather than disappearing without explanation.
  • →A creator's archive of 500+ episodes and supplementary content (daily shows, YouTube resources) can sustain audience engagement during production breaks.
  • →Taking a pause after extended content creation habits can lead to either renewed energy for return or strategic pivots to new formats.
  • →Direct communication channels like email and social media allow creators to maintain relationships with audiences without active content output.

Episode notes

Send Krystal a Text Message. Stepping away from something you've built for over seven years isn't easy. After 500+ episodes and countless hours behind the microphone, I've made the difficult decision to take my first-ever break from this podcast for the remainder of 2025. The journey of content creation has been incredibly rewarding, but also challenging in ways I hadn't anticipated when I started this adventure. Week after week, month after month, year after year - this community has grown alongside me, and I'm profoundly grateful for every single one of you who's tuned in, whether you discovered the show last week or have been here since day one. This pause isn't a goodbye; it's a necessary step back to reevaluate, recalibrate, and potentially reimagine what comes next. While no new episodes will be released during this hiatus, our extensive library remains at your fingertips. With over 500 episodes of the Proffitt Podcast plus three years of daily content from the Poddy Report, there's plenty to explore if you're missing our regular conversations.
