Jonathan Gibson, Executive Vice President for Penske Corporation joins Sports Business Radio for a conversation. Gibson leads marketing and business development for Penske Corporation. Penske is a global business with revenues of $45 billion and over 75,000 employees. In 2020, Penske purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the INDYCAR series. This past weekend, Indianapolis hosted the world’s largest single-day sporting event - the Indy 500. Over 350,000 people attended the race and WNBA and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was the Grand Marshall of the iconic race. Felix Rosenqvist won the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500, edging out David Malukas in the closest finish in race history by just 0.0233 seconds. The 2026 Indy 500 featured 33 cars and a record-breaking 70 lead changes. Jonathan Gibson also tells us what lies ahead for the INDYCAR series, including a race through the streets of Washington, D.C for AMERICA 250, the potential of international expansion and their partnership with Fox Sports, who owns an equity stake in the INDYCAR series.
