Why Winning an Argument Can Make Workplace Conflict Worse

Episode notes

Workplace conflict is unavoidable. People disagree over priorities, budgets, responsibilities, decisions, and even small issues that become bigger than they should. But most conflict gets worse because people frame the issue too narrowly. It becomes my idea versus your idea, or who’s right versus who’s wrong. That’s when people start building a case instead of fixing the problem. In this episode, I speak with conflict resolution expert Sam Imperati about how leaders and professionals can handle disagreement more effectively. Sam explains why strong conflict resolution starts with emotional control, impartiality, shared goals, and better questions. Instead of making conflict binary, he shows how to broaden the conversation so people can explore options, protect relationships, and reach solutions that actually last.
