TikTok's role in eCommerce marketing is fundamentally shifting as brands recognize that users now go to TikTok for discovery rather than relying solely on Google search. Bianca Wilmott, Partnerships Manager at Plann, explains how the platform's search functionality and SEO capabilities make it increasingly valuable for DTC brands looking to build organic reach. With ad spend migrating from Meta and Google to TikTok due to Apple's tracking restrictions and Meta's attribution challenges, organic content strategy becomes a cost-effective way to reach customers searching for solutions to specific pain points. The conversation covers how brands can identify customer questions and pain points within TikTok itself, then create targeted video content using proper keyword optimization. This shift represents a significant opportunity for eCommerce operators to build customer acquisition channels that don't rely on expensive paid advertising, particularly as iOS privacy changes continue to impact traditional social ad targeting.
Apple's tracking restrictions have limited Meta's targeting capabilities, while TikTok's search functionality and algorithm provide better discovery and targeting opportunities for reaching customers based on their interests and pain points.
By identifying customer pain points and questions that people search for on TikTok, brands can create videos optimized with relevant keywords to appear in search results and provide solutions, making them discoverable without paid advertising.
This refers to users now searching for products, solutions, and information directly within TikTok rather than using Google search, making TikTok a primary discovery platform for consumer needs.

The transcript is almost entirely consumed by a transcription artifact of repeated 'Thank you' phrases, leaving only a few generic, surface-level observations about TikTok. What little content exists offers no novel claims a B2B operator wouldn't already know.

The handful of actual ideas presented - TikTok replacing Google search, TikTok ad spend growing, Meta suffering from Apple's tracking restrictions - are among the most recycled talking points in digital marketing commentary. Zero contrarian or first-principles thinking is evidenced.
there is now a saying that people aren't Googling their TikToking
Meta have changed with the Apple locking out tracking of ads
The guest is a Partnerships Manager at a social media scheduling SaaS tool, not a DTC operator or someone who has built an e-commerce brand at scale. The role is adjacent to the topic rather than a practitioner with direct, large-scale experience.
Bianca Wilmot, who is the Partnerships Manager at Plan, a social media planning tool
There are no named brands, no metrics, no dollar figures, and no concrete case studies in any part of the accessible transcript. The single attempt at specificity is a vague, incomplete reference to an October platform change with no follow-through.
I think it was in October, right? They increased the character limit.
The host raises a mildly relevant framing around ad spend shifts, but the conversation never develops - there are no meaningful follow-up questions, no pushback, and no depth achieved before the transcript collapses entirely into repeated filler.
ad spend might be indicative of where the brand's attention is going and it's shifting from meta or Alphabet, Google products to TikTok

Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of Cart Overflow. I'm your host, Ganfru Kowal. And today we have Bianca Wilmot, who is the Partnerships Manager at Plan, a social media planning tool. Bianca, how are you today?
Yeah, I'm really good. Thank you. It's the morning in Australia, so it's nice to be here. All right.
Awesome. But there is no morning night. TikTok runs 24-7, constant stream of stuff to dig into. And that's what we're going to focus on today.
in particular, TikTok organic, how brands, how e-commerce and direct-to-consumer brands can leverage TikTok organic to basically build a business. And I think it's very interesting. I've been reading a lot in terms of what the statistics are, in particular, the ad spend. And so ad spend might be indicative of where the brand's attention is going and it's shifting from meta or Alphabet, Google products to TikTok.
So TikTok spend is actually increasing while the others are decreasing. But I'd love to learn a little bit more about your perspective on TikTok from what you're seeing at plan, where you might have a bird's eye view of how these brands are using social media. Yeah. So I think it's interesting you talk about the ad spend because there is now a saying that people aren't Googling their TikToking.
So that idea of being able to go into an app that isn't Google search for what you're looking for and then finding it is super, super powerful for brands because you can find those questions that those, or those pain points that customers need solved. Go into an app like TikTok and find a video that solves that. And that could be your video if you're, if you're leveraging the right keywords and using the SEO well. Yeah.
So it's definitely, I can see why people would be spending more on TikTok, especially with the way that Google, I'm not, sorry, not Google, Meta have changed with the Apple locking out tracking of ads. So now TikTok's a better place to be able to find, oh, what are people interested in and how can I target to them? Yeah, totally. I think it was in October, right?
