The Visible Leader ranks #2951 on The B2B Podcast Index with a substance score of 62.0 out of 100, scored across 1 recent episode. It scores highest on insight density and guest caliber. The episode offers a handful of serviceable frameworks (the 6 Cs of team dysfunction, the 7 leadership fails, the Validate-and-Channel feedback model, and the 9-point behavioural action plan) but these are interspersed with lengthy conversational padding, boat-leak analogies, Men in Black references, and mutual agreement that add little for a practitioner. The ideas are real but thinly developed and spaced far apart.

“The failure to have ring fenced, prioritized, one to one meetings with each and every member of their team individually, regularly and hopefully often”
“The worst answer you could possibly give is I will lead them better when they are better behaved”
The core arguments - do one-to-ones, give specific feedback, leaders must model behaviour - are thoroughly established leadership orthodoxy. The Validate-and-Channel framing is a minor repackaging of strength-based feedback and the 'followers as customers' reframe has circulated for years; there is no genuinely contrarian or first-principles claim in the episode.
“I devised this thing called Validate and Channel. And it's a bit like the old poop sandwich... I much prefer the psychology behind the Validate and Channel”
“You've got to get them to want to follow you by your behavior, which is the true nature of leading by example”
Andy Edwards is a professional speaker, behavioural psychologist, and Udemy course creator whose practitioner background is a junior hotel marketing role decades ago; his current authority is as a trainer and author rather than an operator who built or led something at scale, which limits the weight of his claims.
“I was working in hospitality, working in marketing, business development for a boutique hotel, and the owner there was possibly no. Definitely the worst manager leader you could possibly imagine”
“you can also buy my book from there. But also if you go onto a learning platform, Udemy”
Numbers and named evidence are almost entirely absent; the sole quantified claim - '1 in 200 leaders are the best' - is self-described as 'a little bit of both anecdotal and researched,' and the host's CMI statistic (30% left due to bad boss) appears only in the pre-interview monologue, not interrogated in conversation. Advice stays at the level of principle throughout.
“I would estimate about 1 in 200 leaders are, uh, what I would call. There's no improving. They're just the best leaders. So that's quite a rare circumstance”
“I would say once a week if you're not doing them yet, once a fortnight as the rhythm and I think that's optimum, no less than once a month”
The host asks a few well-targeted questions (e.g. what leaders do that they think helps but is counterproductive) and brings in real client examples, but she agrees with almost every point without challenge or follow-up pressure, and the closing exchange devolves into mutual validation rather than pushing any claim further.
“Talking my language again, Andy. I know we're so aligned here”
“I feel like we are twins on a lot of this and I think my listeners will benefit greatly”
