Precious Price, a brand authority coach, breaks down the three foundational elements required to transition from unpaid speaking to paid engagements. The episode challenges the common misconception that aspiring speakers can jump directly to paid opportunities without first proving their ability to engage audiences. Price draws from her own journey - including overcoming a severe stutter through Voice Memo practice - to illustrate that authority isn't self-proclaimed but earned through consistent value delivery. She emphasizes that storytelling, not lecture-style presentations, is what compels audiences and generates speaker requests. The framework centers on three key requirements: confidence and authority (speaking with conviction about topics you know deeply), consistency (mastering one expertise rather than scattered offerings), and digital assets (YouTube, podcasts, LinkedIn, Instagram, or blogs that allow prospects to discover you). Price argues that free speaking - whether on live streams, podcasts, or social platforms - builds the social proof necessary before charging clients, comparing it to how Amazon customers review products before purchasing. Her Building Brand Authority (BBA) program positions corporate professionals to leverage LinkedIn strategically to expand influence both inside and outside their organizations.
Start by speaking for free on platforms like YouTube, podcasts, or live streams to build social proof and demonstrate you can engage an audience, then use that track record to attract paid opportunities.
They want their first paid speaking gig without ever speaking to free audiences, and they try to position themselves as authorities without having earned that credibility through consistent value delivery.
She used the Voice Memo app to record herself speaking repeatedly, which helped her understand her voice, identify specific words or patterns she disliked, and build confidence through familiarity.
You need three things: confidence and authority (conviction in what you're saying), consistency (mastering one expertise and showing up for it), and digital assets (YouTube, LinkedIn, podcasts, or other platforms where prospects can discover you).
Yes, and it's essential - free speaking builds social proof and demonstrates value, similar to how customers read reviews before buying; people need to see your value before paying you.
Our reviewer’s read on each dimension, with quotes from the episode.
The episode is a 41-minute live-session monologue that recycles the same three surface-level points - start talking, be consistent, build digital assets - over and over with heavy padding between each repetition. There are essentially zero non-obvious claims; the content a smart B2B operator would already know is recycled wholesale.
It's literally that simple. Start talking.
authority is not something that you can give yourself. It's not something that you can just bestow upon you
Every idea in the episode - social proof before charging, doing free work to build credibility, SEO through content volume, niche focus - is standard personal-branding canon with no contrarian angle, no first-principles reasoning, and no counterintuitive framing.
Authority is earned. Authority is earned. It's not given.
people want to see the value for free first
This is a solo episode by a coach whose disclosed peak speaking fee is $1,200 and whose program is an 8-week LinkedIn coaching package for corporate managers; there is no guest, no external practitioner, and the host's demonstrated scale is modest. The content is also aimed at aspiring solo speakers rather than B2B operators.
The lowest that I've been paid for a speaking engagement is a hundred dollars. The highest that I've been paid thus far is $1200 for speaking engagement.
I'm a brand authority coach. I help professionals and executives pretty much become a thought leader within their industry.
The episode offers a handful of concrete numbers (speaking fees of $100 - $1,200, phone rates of $179 - $500) but zero named client case studies, no tracked outcomes, no third-party data, and the Amazon analogy is purely illustrative rather than evidential.
The lowest that I've been paid for a speaking engagement is a hundred dollars. The highest that I've been paid thus far is $1200 for speaking engagement.
hopping on the phone with you is at least 300 bucks
This is an unstructured solo live-stream monologue with no interviewer, no questions, no challenge, and no follow-up; the host repeatedly addresses invisible live commenters, circles back to the same points, and pivots to promoting her BBA coaching programme multiple times, making it closer to an infomercial than a crafted conversation.
And if any of this is resonating with you, let me know. I see. I have one person here, Facebook, as well.
I always go by the rule of three. Y' all know, it's always three things that we're hitting on.

Speaker A: My primary, my primary advice to anyone who says that, to any and every person who says that, is to just start talking. It's literally that simple. Start talking. Because the thing that I find is that most of you, like you want your first paid speaking engagement when you don't even want to get on live like this and engage with an audience for free. People need to see that you actually know how to speak. People need to see that you know what you're talking about on a particular topic first. You are listening to the Strategy Behind Branding Yourself, a podcast for those looking to tap into their passion, make an impact and begin building a brand. My name is Precious Price and I'll be your host. Thanks for joining.
Speaker B: This episode is sponsored by my accelerated program, Building Brand Authority, better known as bba. If you're currently a corporate manager who is killing it in your career and you're looking to expand your influence both inside and outside of the office and position yourself as an expert in your industry, listen up. I believe that the influence and accomplishments that you achieve in your career should not only be known by those at your company. Likewise, the passion projects that you have outside of your career should be known by those at your place of employment. You do not have a personal brand and a professional brand. You're one person, so you have one brand. So you need to use your profession and your passion to fuel one another. BBA is an eight week, one on one coaching program that positions you to do just that through strategically leveraging LinkedIn. If you're interested in being seen as an expert in your field, being invited to speak, speak on topics related to your expertise, not just your career, increasing your visibility in your industry. Then you need to head on over to www.preciouscprice.com BBA.
Speaker A: Back in college I started speaking publicly back when I was in college and when I was in college, um, I was speaking on like my experience, right? It was nowhere near related to anything branding yet I kind of just hopped in and from me, just sharing my story, sharing, you know, the things that I had already, I guess been through. Um, because I am a first generation college student, um, I am the oldest of five. There are like all of these firsts that I had, right? So back when I was in college I would get ah, asked to speak a lot, uh, at different, like leadership programs, um, different organizations on campus and even um, working within the admissions office, within the recruiting office. I would constantly get asked to speak about my experience and a lot of you don't know or you may not know. I actually grew up with, um. Um, I'm gonna call it a severe stuttering problem. I grew up with a stutter, and for the most part, people cannot tell at all based on how I talk right now. Um, if you're somebody who thought you could tell or you just had no idea, let me know. Um, drop a comment. But I actually grew up with a stuttering problem. And a lot of people feel like also that when they have a speech impediment, that just completely ends their entire, I guess, desire to talk to other people. Right. Because it's something that actually affects your confidence. Heavy. Um, and it affected my confidence a lot, honestly, when I was growing up as well. Like, my stutter was absolutely ridiculous. Um, and a lot of people also asked me, how did I get over that? How did I get past that? And it was a lot of me actually just listening to myself talking. That is always what I tell people to do all the time. Um, if you're somebody who, number one, if you're new here, you don't know who I am. My, um, name is Precious Price. I'm a brand authority coach. I help professionals and executives pretty much become a thought leader within their industry. How do they do that? How do they really begin to get paid for doing the things that they love and bring together both their profession and their passion? So that's who I am and what I do. But when with that stuttering problem or when getting over that. If you've heard any of my chats before, any of my lives before, I feel like I mention this all the time, how I do everything that I do, how I keep up with everything that I do is really through the Voice Memo app. And when I actually started utilizing, uh, the Voice Memo app, that's actually when my stutter became better. Right. I started recording myself talking. I started, um, recording myself speaking, speaking on video as well. Because the more that you hear yourself or you get used to yourself speaking, the problem that I see a lot of people say is that, well, I just don't like my voice. I absolutely love my voice. So if you, like, if you get started and you start recording yourself speaking, you start recording yourself on video, on audio, actually talking. You'll find out what you don't like about your voice. Like, there are certain words that you may say that you feel like, oh, that sounds like I'm saying it with my nose. If you get what I'm saying when I say I'm saying it with my nose. But either way, like, sometimes there are words that you feel like you Say that you're like, oh, my God, I hate that. If you just listen to yourself a little bit more, you actually talk to yourself. Talk within the Voice Memo app. You'll actually understand. Okay, what are the pieces about my, like, my dialect, about my tone that I need to fix? Because speaking is a lot more than just getting up, uh, in talking to people. Speaking is the way that you actually grab hold of the room, right? Like, if you hop on this live and you say, damn, what is she talking about? I need to know. It's really like that ebb and flow within your voice. How do you really grasp people? And it's a lot more than just getting up there and talking. And you can tell when someone is a really, really good speaker, and you can tell when somebody is not a good speaker as well, because they won't be able to grab your attention. Grabbing your attention is a lot more than just the words that you say. It's how you say them. It's saying things with authority. And that's really the primary thing that I want to get into your head today, especially for those of you who want to get started with getting paid to speak. Getting paid to speak is having that authority, right? Having authority in what you say, authority in what you do, and then authority within your industry as well. Um, and some of us, like, try to jump into authority a little bit too fast when it isn't necessary. Like, authority, I like to say all the time, isn't something that you can give yourself. Authority is not something that you can just give yourself. That you can just bestow and say, okay, I'm an influencer. Okay, I'm an authority. Authority is something that's actually earned. Authority is something that other people give to you. Other people give you that title, right? You earn that title through the actions that you take, the value that you put out to people. So when you're doing all of that, like, that's really the number one thing that you need to understand, is that if you're not speaking, speaking with, um, Sometimes people say conviction, right? Speaking with conviction. Speaking as if you actually believe what the hell you're talking about. If you don't do that, then other people won't believe that as well. And then I actually see Calvin is on the live. Calvin is a really good speaker as well. Um, if you see him, and he just joined the live, his ad is Kyle Sands. Absolutely amazing speaker. He is somebody who speaks with authority and speaks with conviction. Conviction. That is something that you need when you're looking to get started within this public speaking realm. Now, what I always like to say, especially for most people, right, Because I started out speaking years ago, back when I was in college. As stated, that's when I started out speaking and I was primarily just speaking on. This is my experience as a first generation college student. This is my experience as like the oldest of five. This is my experience as being the first within, like everything. I was the first doing everything. And I didn't even realize that the story that I was telling, right, that my own experience, my own life that I had lived was something that would interest other people until I actually started talking more about it, until I actually started sharing my experience. Because that is how you get paid to speak. Getting paid to speak is not just getting up there like a teacher, right? And you have a lecture and then you have, have certain bullet points that you go over. Speaking is a lot more about storytelling. Storytelling is the primary component of actually getting paid to speak. Getting speaker requests and then even furthermore, getting clients. People want to be compelled or pulled in by your story. What relates you to them, right? Like for me, I am a black woman, I am in business, I am a corporate professional, I'm a first generation college student, I'm from the south side of Chicago. Some of those things, what, whatever I just threw out there, one of those is going to stick and resonate with you and you're going to feel like you relate to me, right? That's what you need to identify when you're actually figuring out, okay, how can I really get started with getting paid to speak? Now, when I say, when I address this question of, okay, like precious, people hop in my inbox all the time and they're like, I see you always speak in your own webinars. You're at conferences. But before Corona and everything, I would actually be speaking at local and national conferences as well on the topic of branding and even on the topic of overcoming adversity and being a woman in business, right? I was speaking on all of these different topics and people would ask me, like, how did you get, how did you get started getting paid to speak? How did you even get started being a, uh, speaker? Right? I want to do that too. And my primary, my primary advice to anyone who says that, to any and every person who says that, is to just start talking. It's literally that simple. Start talking. Because the thing that I find is that most of you, like, you want your first page speaking engagement when you don't even want to get on live like this and engage with an audience for Free. People need to see that you actually know how to speak. People need to see that you know what you're talking about on a particular topic first. So if you're saying that, okay, precious, I want to get started with speaking, number one, just start talking. Whether that is recording yourself on a voice memo, getting, um, on YouTube, whatever it is, that is what you need to figure out. You just need to start talking. Before I actually started to get paid to speak, like paid, paid. Uh, before I started to get paid to speak, was speaking for free. Before that I was actually, I had a YouTube, um, channel. I have a YouTube channel actually. And if you go to it, you can actually see a lot of my very first, I wouldn't say very first videos, but some of my early speaking engagements right before I became the precious that I am now, back then, when I did not know, you know, how to actually flow, how to continue to engage an audience, that's what was going on. So if you go back to that and you see, then you will see that, okay, I have been speaking for free for a while. Hey, uh, I have been speaking for free for a while and that's what you need to understand. Like a lot of people, even another piece that I want to say to really get this in your head, right? Hey, another piece that I want to say to get this in your head. Most, like I said, most of you want your first page speaking engagement, and you don't want to get on live like this and talk and engage with the people, the audience that you already have for free. Most of you want the bank account of a six, seven, eight figure earner. And you're not even responsibly handling the five figures that you may have right now, right? You're not even doing that. So you want, like, it's this aspect of wanting more without wanting to do what's required to receive more without wanting to become and become the person who, who can actually receive more adequately. Right? Adequately. So that's what I want you to get in your head. So my advice, number one, is to start and then also to start for free. There are a lot of people out here who will tell you you don't need to be doing anything for free. Um, time cost, like all of all of this different stuff, right? So some of you then come out of the woodwork and you start charging people when you haven't even given them any value, right? You haven't given them anything or shown them anything about whether or not it works. I want to give you one example of Amazon when you go on Amazon and you purchase anything with your prime delivery, whether you're an Amazon prime member or not, when you go on Amazon and you purchase anything, what is the first thing that you do? You look for reviews. You want to see what other people are actually saying, right? You want to see the value of it for free before you actually hit purchase and. And have that transaction go through. And that's the same way that people look at this online space, right? Whether you have, like, a small business, whether you have, like, a mom and pop shop, whatever it is, people want to see the value for free first. So that's what you need to be giving them, is the value for free. Like, people come in, so many come in, and they see the end result of what everyone is doing. They see the end result. They see the bank account like, they see the houses, they see the cars, but they never actually see or look at the years, the years leading up to actually getting that. The years that they were doing it for free, the years that they were told no, all of that. They don't. And if any of this is resonating with you, let me know. I see. I have one person here, Facebook, as well. So, yeah, share me, like, let me know, because I'm going to be doing the Airbnb Live soon, too. I feel like a lot of people always hop on thinking I'm talking about Airbnb and I'm not. Again, y' all jump into the money when it's way too quick. Um, but, yes, my advice, like I said, is to really just start and understand that you got to put sweat equity, like, you got to have some skin in the game for any industry that you want to be in, whether it's the online space, whether it's real estate, whether it's something else, forex, financial education, whatever it is, you got to have some skin in the game first. You got to show people that what you're saying and what you're doing actually works for people. That's what I call social proof. Right? That's what other people, a lot of people call social proof. So you have to do that first so that they can understand, okay, you actually know what you're talking about. So what that looks like when you're looking at getting clients for your side hustle, when you're looking at, um, getting more speaking engagements or starting to get speaker requests, what that looks like is actually getting on video, getting on audio, maybe it's just a podcast, because some people don't want to get on with their appearance look, in any kind of way, whether it's a podcast or it's a video, you just need to start putting something out so that they can see that you actually have something to talk about. How are you going to expect or anticipate speaking engagements? And you don't even speak now. Like, you don't even do it now. So they're not going to just reach out to you and assume that you are a speaker. They're not going to do that. So when we're looking at what's required for you to actually get more speaker requests, um, get clients for your side hustle, and then in turn, just honestly increase your money, increase your bank account, what's required for that? Right. I have three things. I always go by the rule of three. Y' all know, it's always three things that we're hitting on. The first, like I already said, is that confidence and that authority. People are not going to listen to you. They're not going to buy into what you're saying. They're not even going to visit your profile if you do not have some type of conviction. Conviction when you are speaking some type of authority, Right? Authority in what you are saying. A belief in what you are saying. And what I always like to say is you only get nervous. The arms, um, the likes, the. The nervousness only comes when you are not fully prepared, when you don't know what you're talking about. That is really the only time that I. I can speak for myself too, is right. I would say, um, and, like, I find that I only do that when I have not adequately prepared for what I'm speaking about that day. If you think back to when you were in college, maybe high school, and you had to give a presentation, you would give the likes and the ums and the pauses because you were not adequately prepared because you did not know that content that you were presenting on, like, the back of your hand. So that first piece that I would say of what's really required, right? The real key number one is having that conviction and having authority, being seen as an authority. And as I said earlier on the Live, authority is not something that you can give yourself. It's not something that you can just bestow upon you and your page and your identity. I say authority, and I'm going to use influencer or influence as a synonymous word. Word, right? Because typically on Instagram, that's what people look at it as. Like on, um, LinkedIn, I would say authority. But on Instagram, I would say influencer. Right? You cannot just Bestow or say that you are an influencer. That's not how it works. What are you influencing? What are you telling people to do? Where are you leading them? You're leading. If you're leading them to nowhere, then you are just a self proclaimed influencer. And at that point you are not influencing anything. You're not influencing anything. No one cares. No one's listening and no one cares. So in order for you to get people to care, in order for you to actually get them to listen to what you are saying, you have to have that confidence. And then you also need to position yourself as an authority. I'm going to tell you a little bit later what positioning yourself as an authority actually looks like. Um, because like I said, it's not, it, it's not necessarily an easy task, right? It's going to be hard to do, but it is simple. It's not easy, but it's simple. So number one, what you need to have confidence and authority. Actually know what you are talking about. If you're going to say that you want to get paid to speak, understand what the actual topic is that you are going to be getting paid to speak on. And for like what is the topic that you know like the back of your hand. What can you talk about for hours on end and you will not stop. And that's just what you're, that's just what you're doing. The second piece is consistency. So actually getting paid to speak and I'm going to transition from even like talking about speaker requests because it's the same thing if you're talking about speaker requests versus actually getting clients for your side hustle or your business. Right? You need to be consistent. You need to have confidence and authority. But then number two, you need to be consistent. Consistent means don't necessarily hop around what you're saying that your expertise is. You need to master one thing. What does mastering one thing looks like? Mastering one thing is not necessarily saying, okay, I do hair and I can fix your credit in the summertime and I got an online boutique. That's a lot. What are you known for? Identify the one thing that you want to be known for your one expertise and I want you to be consistent with that. Choose consistency with that. That is really what's going to make you noticeable in order to get clients and then get speaking engagements and get more money. And I'm honestly giving you all what has worked for me, right? What has worked for me. This has worked for me and also a number of my clients. So that's what I'm giving to you. I'm not saying that it's completely and utterly just going to work for you, but these are really the foundational steps that you need to get into place for you to increase your capital and increase your income. I feel like that's what I'm all about is helping other people to increase their money. Whether that's through side hustling, whether that's through, you know, stepping out and actually selling your expertise, selling the knowledge in your head. That's what I love to help people to do. How can you monetize what you're already doing? How can you monetize what you're already telling people? If there are a thousand people already coming to you, constantly asking you for relationship advice, how can you monetize that? How can you get people to actually pay you to tell you that information to pay you about? For instance, these business tips, right? How do you get people to actually do that and take you seriously? Um, and be. Be willing to spend their money on you? How do you get them to do that? So, like I said, number one, be an authority, be an influencer. And I say that loosely because you cannot just be that, right? You have to actually earn that title. You actually have to, I guess, do the. Do the steps that are needed in order to become an authority. In order to become an influencer. You cannot just bestow and say that, I am an influencer. I am now an authority. Authority is earned. Authority is earned. It's not given. So getting paid to speak, getting those clients requires that confidence in what you're talking about. Have a topic that you can always show up for, whether that's relationships, whether that is branding, whether that is financial literacy, whatever that is. Have that topic that you are constantly going to show up for. Like you're going to show up for people, like, whatever it is, have that. What are you known for? Some people, it could be known for, like, plants and being really green. Other people, it could be known for marketing tips. Other people are fitness. But find out what it is that you're actually known for and then go hard within that particular area, because when you begin to confuse your message, you're also confusing your audience as well. It gets very chaotic. It gets way too chaotic for you to handle and for other people who are actually looking for you to be a speaker to handle as well. And then the last piece that I, um, I'll tell y' all about, right? That what you need in order to really get more clients, get more speaking engagements, and honestly, Just more money in general. You need digital assets. What do I need? But what do I mean by digital assets? Digital assets, meaning that could be a YouTube, that could be a blog, this could be a podcast, this could just be your Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, whatever social profile that you use. It could be any of these things, honestly, I would say multiple pieces of these, right? But you need some type of discipline, digital assets, so that people can actually find you for these opportunities. Everything. All of the money that I make for the most part, whether it's on the side, whether it's through any of the businesses that I have is because someone found me on, whether it's LinkedIn, Instagram or what have you. All of the speaking engagements that I have, the webinars that I host, all of these pieces, right? All of these speaker requests, me getting paid to speak has always come from my online presence in the digital assets that I have, whether it's the YouTube that I already have, where I host a lot of the content, the all of the speaking engagements that I've already done, whether it's my Facebook group, whether it's you just scrolling through my Instagram and going through all of the content that I've put out over the last five years, right? All of those digital assets are what then culminate, culminate into people wanting to pay me for what it is that they want to pay me for, whether it's speaker requests, whether it's to work with me as a client. That's what they do. Because now you feel like, like you know me, right? The example that I gave earlier was when you're on Amazon and you're looking to purchase something, you're going to scroll, you're going to Google it reviews, you're going to look at all of the reviews that Amazon has to offer, you're going to look it up, you might look at a tutorial video. You're going to do all of these things to verify that the value of that product or that service or whatever you're purchasing is actually there. As a business owner, as a side hustle, as side hustler, as an entrepreneur, you need to do the same thing. You need to have some type of way for people to look at you, look at your profile, look at your identity, feel like they're getting to know you on a deeper level or your product, right? They're getting to know you or your product on a deeper level. And then now they feel more inclined to purchase, purchase. So now it won't be this long drawn out sales process that you have to go through of getting them on the phone and then trying to convince them to pay you $100, $200, right? I easily get people to pay me, get clients to pay me thousands of dollars, thousand dollars, $2,000, $400 to get on the phone because of all of the digital assets that. They already know what I'm bringing to the table. Now it's just a matter of getting your specific question answered. That is the point that you want to get to. And it doesn't matter what industry you're in, whether you're in the online coaching space, whether you're in like the product space, whether you have a valet company, whatever it is, whatever it is, you can have digital assets just teach people, tell people, um, tell people about something, right? Like if you give any example, for those of you that are watching right now, if you drop any example, I can give you an example. Drop your business, drop your brand. I can give you an example of digital assets that you can create, right? Because those digital assets are what you're going, are, uh, what's going to get you fast found. Digital assets contribute to what's called your search engine optimization, your SEO, digital assets contribute to that. The more that you put out online, whether it's through a blog, your website, YouTube, podcast, the more that your name shows up, the more that you're putting out there, the more value that you're giving people, the further to the top of those Google searches, you're going to go. Just that simple. Is that simple. That's, that's how it happens. So if you're saying, okay, I want to get more clients, I want to get more speaking engagements, number one, position yourself for that. I talk often about positioning your profiles, whether it's Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or whatever. Positioning your profiles so that when people come to your profile, they know exactly it, exactly what it is they're going to get. Like, I want to know exactly what it is that I'm going to get when I come to your profile. Am I just going to get like you standing on the couch in a club, you got a section, you got some bottles, is if that's what I'm going to get, then me personally, I don't want that, I don't care for that. But if you tell me, if I immediately come to your profile and I can tell, okay, you give branding tips, okay, you give tips on optimizing your YouTube channel, you give tips on like, financial literacy, you give tips on starting a side hustle, then I can then like reach out to you. It's easier for me to reach out to you because I know what you offer. And then I'm then going to binge. I'm starting, I'm going to start to go through your profile. I'm going to start to feel like, okay, I can reach out to me. Does she. I'm going to start to try to figure out whether or not you know what you're talking about. Because that's always what we do, right? Someone says that they are something, someone says that they are in entrepreneur, says that they are specializing in a certain topic, right? And then what do we do? We want to vet, we want to validate, we want to verify because we want to find something that's going to disprove what they just said. Like, well, you said that you talk about xyz, but when I go on your profile, all I see is you on the beach or you in compound, in the club, in a strip club. Like, that's all I see. So you need to make it very clear and apparent what are people going to get from you? Right? Start using hashtags. Like most of my speaking engagements, most of my speaking engagements are because they're searching hashtags. Brand strategist, they're searching hashtags. LinkedIn tips, business on, uh, Atlanta business. Right? Find what works for you. But you need to be out here in all aspects trying to get what I'm going to call the coin, right? And you cannot just get that from sitting idle and thinking that the opportunities are going to fall, fall into your lap. It requires you to position yourself in a certain way. It definitely requires you to position yourself in a certain way. And that positioning comes from, like I already said, number one, the confidence. Have conviction with what you're saying, the confidence and authority. Number two, consistency actually being consistent in showing up for whoever your audience is. So whether your audience is on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, wherever it is, consistently show up for them. Right? Right. Show up as consistently as you know how. Because I like to think that consistency is something that you define. If consistency for you is every two weeks, consistency for me can be every three days. It's just up to you. But figure out what your period, your time period of consistency is. And then number three, having those digital assets, so having some type of blog, some type of YouTube, um, channel, some kind of like something online so that when people search, search your profile, when people search your name, you are going to show up if you have not already within the last week or two, searched your name on Google I want you to do so. Search your name on Google. Search whatever you go by, right? If you have a stage name, if it's your regular name, whatever it is, search it on Google. And if the first three, three results that show up are not about you, are not positive, then that means that you have some work to do, especially within the digital assets arena. That means that you need to either get to creating some type of website so that that can then show up, you need to get featured in some type of articles, you can write an article on yourself, start a YouTube channel, something along those lines, so that you can begin to show up if someone searches for, you know, a certain type of coach within a particular area, making sure that you show up, making sure that that SEO is correct on your page. Now, I want to get into actually, like, what does payment look like? Um, well, number one, what does payment look like for speaker requests? But number two, what does payment look like when you are actually, um, like within the space that I'm in, right? Like getting clients. And when I say get clients, I mean, like, again, the space that I'm in, this online coaching space, what does that look like for me? Number one, speaker request. Um, depending on how many years you've been speaking, uh, the experience that you have, other experiences as far as like speaking at conferences and such, the digital assets like your speaker video, your speaker kit, all of that. Depending on all of that, that range is really going to fluctuate. And then it also depends on whether or not this is a keynote, a panel. Um, you're just coming into, you're doing a workshop session, session. It honestly depends. But I've seen rates, like, I'll tell you what I've been paid, right? I've been paid. The lowest that I've been paid for a speaking engagement is a hundred dollars. The highest that I've been paid thus far is $1200 for speaking engagement. Meaning I'm just going, I'm talking about what I already talk about to you all right now on Live already. And then I'm getting paid to do that, right? There may be a little prep work that's included, but really that's it. And then for the most part, if you go on my website, you're able to get an idea of the rates that I charge, um, for my own clients, right? Uh, at least for me to like, hop on the phone, right? Because really, this goes back to the confidence piece that I was saying earlier. You need to actually have the confidence, the authority, and feel like you have the skill set Necessary to ask for the amount that you feel like you deserve and you require. Like, how confident are you in getting on the phone with somebody and saying, yeah, to talk to me or messaging somebody? Right, messaging the email and somebody and saying to talk to me and hop on the phone for 30 minutes is going to be $179, it's going to be $300, it's going to be four or five hundred dollars. How confident you are do in doing that. And that confidence really comes from knowing your shit, from knowing what you're talking about, from knowing your expertise, whether you're trying to get speaking engagements or not. Because most try. Most are trying to get clients and they may not necessarily get speaking engagements. I will say one for the most part precedes the other. You usually, or you're typically getting, you're getting speaking engagements. And then from those speaking engagements, clients are coming, or you have clients who are now echoing and um, like really applauding on your behalf. They're literally marketing you on your behalf. And then that is how other speaking engagements are coming. But at least for me, how it works is that typically when I speak, which is why I speak so often, right? Which is why I'm very much more inclined to accept a speaking engagement, is because when I accept a speaking engagement, I know that most of those people, if I set it up correctly, a handful of those people at the very least are going to be willing to pay me for the service that I have afterwards, right? They're going to become a client. And this is gonna. This then helps us get into, um, like the payment piece of speaking of being a public speaker. Right, the payment piece. Because I told you all earlier that in order for you to really start to get paid to speak, you first need to do it for free. You need to, um, do get video of you actually speaking. You need to get photos, you need to get ways in sort of like media for you to actually market what you're doing. That's what you need to do, number one. But then number two, even if you are not necessarily, let's say that someone reaches out to you and says, hey, can you speak at my event? But they don't have a budget. They don't necessarily have a budget, so they cannot pay you. They may be only be able to pay you about 100 bucks, but when you look at their community, right, who's going to be in the audience, number one, how many people are going to be in that audience? If I say 100 people are going to be in that audience, then at that point, if this audience is, let's say for me, I'm going to use myself as an example. This audience is like consisting of primarily like young to middle aged professionals, if that's what they are. And then I'm actually speaking on, let's say the topic of LinkedIn, that aligns perfectly with the clientele that I'm looking for, with the prospects that I try to gain. So even if they're not paying me a particular rate to speak, I know that I am then going to gain at least, let's say five to 10 clients just following that speaking engagement. Because that is my primary target audience. Those are the people who are actually wanting to buy my services in the first place. And then this, then go back, goes back to actually understanding who your audience is. Like all of this, everything that I talk about plays into each other, right guys? Like every single thing, you cannot have one without the other. You cannot piecemeal together a brand. That's what I try to tell people all the time. Like you cannot just Google a brand, you cannot just Google that, right? Google how to start a brand, how to have a really compelling brand. You can't piecemeal that type of thing together. So that's why every single thing that I talk about, if someone gets on this live right now and they ask a question, they ask a question, I typically have a video that refers them back to, that, uh, refers them back to the answer. Because all of this goes together, right? Like, you cannot necessarily say, okay, I want to have a brand, I want to get paid to speak, I want to make money. But you don't even know who your audience is. You can't necessarily say that, oh, you want to get paid and you want to have an audience, you want to make impact, but you don't necessarily have your own medium of how you communicate with your audience. All of this goes into the other and then honestly going way back, right to even starting that you cannot say that you want to get paid for anything. When you don't have an llc, you don't have an ein. Like you haven't properly set your business up in the first place. So that's why I talk about all of these different pieces of really like brand development, of business development, because they all go together. You cannot just piecemeal these things together and say like, alright, I'm making millions. It doesn't work like that, it's gonna be a lot harder. So that's it. Um, I believe that's, that's all I have. Yeah. That's all I have going back and just reviewing, right what we talked about and what we said, what's required, right. Number one is that confidence and that authority and what you're saying and what you're talking about. Find what your expertise is and stick to it. Consistency again, not hopping around with what it is that you are actually speaking about. People know that when they come to, to this, right, when they come to live with Precious at 8:30pm they are getting branding or business tips. You are getting some type of tips or tactics help you make more money to help you position yourself for success. You know what you getting every time you're not going to come on here and click on here and then I'm suddenly live in compound in Magic City. That's not going to happen. My brand is consistent. So number one, have that confidence um, and position yourself as an authority. Number two, be actually consistent um, in who you say that you are and what you talk about and what your expertise is, is. And then three, actually have digital assets in place. Um, so all of these pieces are pieces that I talk about that I help my own clients out, um, with. Whether it's in my Facebook group, that's like light work, right? That's a lot of my smaller free trainings. But then if you're actually interested in working with me one on one, I do have a program called Building Band Brand Authority where it pretty much positions you for thought leadership or the word that I'll use you since I'm looking at Instagram and Facebook. Right? Position you to be an influencer. That's what it is. Position you to have some conviction and authority with what you're actually saying. So that when people think about a certain topic or industry, they're thinking of you. That is how I get paid, what I do to do what I do. That is why people still in the midst of COVID reach out to me to speak virtually and to pay me and to do all of these things. Things it is because there I am an authority within that industry with that particular topic or expertise. And in order for you to adequately be paid, right I'm not talking about 27 eBooks, 49 courses. I'm talking about really get paid. Really, really get paid. Like hopping on the phone with you is at least 300 bucks. In order for you to really do that you need to have some type of authority, authority within your industry. People are not going to pay that much for mediocrity. People are not going to spend their hard earned money for mediocrity. They're just not going to do it for something that they can just Google. Right? It's not necessarily about just giving and providing people with the tactics and the tips. It's about also providing them with the steps that are needed for that mental transformation to take, transformation to take place so, so that they can actually be the person who's ready to receive what they are looking for. That is what I teach. So like I said, if you're interested in um, getting started with positioning yourself as an authority, as an influencer, as a thought leader, I do have my BBA program on my website, just www.preciouscprice.com BBA. You can find out more information and then if you also just want to see. You will see like how that comes together and how that's in, how, how that is adequately in place, how my SEO is set up correctly so that I am found right when I do take a three, four week hiatus because I call it the virus that can, I can do that and still have my brand working on my behalf. So go check it out, go check um, my profile out and then even furthermore go check my website out.
