Speaker B: Welcome back to the Angie Ambrosetti Show. Oh, my goodness. You guys always know my excitement when I get on here, and especially when I have someone like my guest today. Now, I just want you guys to know that we literally just spent two hours getting to know one another via Zoom, and we just, we just had so much to talk about, we could not stop. So, without further ado, I want to introduce you guys to my new friend, Colleen Jamison. She is currently Mrs. Brevard County, Florida, 2026. She is a devoted wife to her middle school sweetheart. She is a proud mom of one beautiful daughter. She is an author, a model, a serial entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of, uh, Stories of Hope. And she's going to tell us about that today. Through her children's books, community initiatives, and unwavering faith, Colleen is dedicated to bringing hope and healing to children facing critical illness, trauma and adversity. Whether she's leading service projects, inspiring others through her advocacy, or empowering families to make a difference, she believes every child deserves to feel seen, loved, and valued. My friend, welcome to the show today.

Speaker C: Thank you so much for having me. It's been such a pleasure talking with you and, um, feel very honored to be on your show.

Speaker B: Oh, thank you. That's so sweet. Well, I'm telling you, we were chatting and all of a sudden I went, uh, we've been talking for two hours and we haven't even hit record. But we just wanted kind of get to know each other and talk about. We were introduced through a mutual friend and I was just like, girl, I gotta have you on my podcast because I'm sure that my audience would love to know all the things about you. She is a fellow Jesus lover, which makes me super excited. And just as a side note, she Also likes Michael Jackson. So we had a lot to talk about today. Well, girl with just like, tell us, tell us about you. Who is Colleen Jameson?

Speaker C: Well, um, I'm a fellow believer. I love Jesus. Um, he's done so much in my life and he actually led me into the pageantry. Okay. Pageantry wasn't anything that I would have personally done. M. I remember, uh, looking at the flyer and when I picked it up, God was like, you, you need to take this, you need to take this home. You need to try this out. And I had it on my, um, on my dresser for a long, long time. And I just kept looking at it. I'm like, I don't want to do it, I don't want to do it. But the Lord was telling me to do it, so I obeyed. And um, you know, even though it was, you know, internally, uh, through self, it was a struggle. Um, the moment I obeyed, it became easier. And, um, I had a peace about it. And God led me to the journey I am today. Uh, because he wanted to shine a light on my platform, which is pediatric illness, and really shine that through in the community and not just within my community, but I want to spread it statewide and hopefully nationwide as well.

Speaker B: Wow. And so where were you when you first saw this, um, this pamphlet?

Speaker C: I was, um, so random. I was at a tanning salon and, um, a beautiful picture of the director, Natasha. She was, uh, Mrs. West Indies 2014. Um, she was on it and she did this beautiful pose and she had the crown in the sash. And I was like, wow, she's so beautiful. Oh my gosh, I could never do anything like that. But the Lord was like, no, I, I want you to do this. Pick this up, take this home, keep this information. I want you to apply for this and do it. And so I, I listened, I obeyed. And yeah, it was a journey from there.

Speaker B: And so tell us, when exactly when did that start?

Speaker C: Um, so this was back in July of 2025.

Speaker B: Okay, so you picked up the brochure in July of 2025 when.

Speaker A: Mhm.

Speaker B: Was the pageant.

Speaker C: The pageant was in November.

Speaker B: Okay, so just a few months.

Speaker C: Yeah, it's. Yep. Never been in pageantry ever in my life. Um, they did have an orientation where they teach you how to walk and what the questions would be. Um, and kind of just let you know what's going to happen. But um, I've never done an interview and normally I get super nervous for things like that. Especially when we did orientation, we had to do an introduction. I was shaky and nervous but because God, um, was with me on the interview day, it just, I had this peace that surpassed all understanding. And God just watched over me and I was able to convey and bring concise words like it was just coming out of my mouth, it was just flowing because God wanted me there and he knew what, what rooms he wanted me to take me in and how he wanted to spread, um, that platform. So it, it's been an amazing journey from there. And um, yeah, even when we did the, the pageant night, I was not expecting that because a lot of my delegates, you know, they have beautiful, wonderful platforms. They're gorgeous. And I'm like, it could it. God, you could take this. Anyway, like, I'm doing this, you know, Whatever your will is, I will follow. And that night, um, my. So my mom, she always had me sing this song called, uh, Dreaming of you by Selena. Since I was little and I used to cry cuz I, I thought, oh, she's so beautiful. I could never be that. And God's like, um, right before they did the crowning, they played that song and God was like, I want you to be queen. I want you to shine a light on your platform and I want you to be the light in the community. Like, this is your time now. And before they even announced it and uh, I didn't really believe it, but I was like, okay, if God says this is what's going to happen, it's what's going to happen. And lo and behold, they crowned me that night. And I was in shock. So much so that my, um, director was like, um, I didn't know if you were happy and I was like, I was in shock. I didn't have like, I wasn't crying or like, oh my gosh, I just was in shock. I was like. A lot of the pictures, I'm just like blank face because I, I couldn't believe that I won. So.

Speaker B: Yeah, wow, that's. So it's just how God works, right? Like, it's the unbeknownst, it's the unknown for us that he has a perfect plan. And I love some of the things that you shared with me earlier. Just about how. I mean, I say I love it, it made me connect with you more because you had so many feelings of not being enough, not being pretty enough, not being worthy enough, so to speak, to do something like this. When you see all of these beautiful women that, you know, they have these platforms or they're, they're. We think they have the platform. Like, you just look at them and you're like, oh, they have everything all together. Right. But God had a plan for it to be you, even when you were kind of kicking and screaming because. Because I remember you telling me, like, as we were talking, like, I was like, no way, I'm not doing that. No, no, that's not. That's not for me. And yet it was for you. Yeah.

Speaker C: I mean, when. When God says he wants you to do something, you have to obey. And, uh, when you obey, it's. It's amazing what doors will open. It's amazing it. What we do in our obedience to God, how God can carry that through and make it so much more than you could ever imagine. It's just like that picture of the. Him taking the teddy bear and having the giant teddy bear behind his back. I don't know if you've seen that picture, but I always think of that. Like, you see what's in front of you, but God has something so much bigger planned for you that you could ever.

Speaker B: Yeah. So, uh. Okay, let's go back just a little bit. So before the whole pageantry thing. Right. Came about, what was your platform? What. What was your passion?

Speaker C: So, I've been the children's ministry, and my passion has always been for, uh, children who are battling critical illnesses or, um, just children who are going through domestic violence situations. So I've always volunteered, um, in domestic violence shelters and homeless shelters and children's hospitals. And that's always been on my. Always done that. That's been like a lifetime ministry and work for me. And, um, it's just funny because I've always wanted to do something more than just volunteer. Like, I. I wanted to actually make a change and a difference within those children's lives. And I'm just like, how. How would I do that, God, you know, that was always a prayer. Like, how. How are you going to make that happen? I don't. I want to do that. That's my heart's desire. But I don't know how you're going to make that happen. And this was his answer. It was pageantry because it really gave me a platform. And it was amazing because it opened doors that no man can close. Because if God has something for you, it's going to happen. And I've been connected with so many people, especially because I was Mrs. Palm Bay, Florida, 2025. And then recently on the 12th, I was crowned, um, Mrs. Brevard County, Florida, 2026. And I've just been able to partner with these amazing foundations, like, uh, Base Camp, Children's Cancer Foundation, Ahmad Butler Foundation. Uh, reading is fundamental. The Parker Foundation. So the Parker foundation is actually locally in Melbourne. Another pageant beauty queen, um, Melissa Parker, her son has autism. So she started that foundation to um, as a way of that they can express themselves whether through art or sports. And that's an amazing cause and amazing foundation. So just been able to connect with so many people that can just bring a light to children who are facing those battles.

Speaker B: Mhm. Yeah. And so when you, you know, I actually had forgotten that there's like two crowns that you've gotten. Can't even remember what I said on the first one. If it was Mrs. Palm Bay or if it was Mrs. Brevard County. But anyways, she holds both of those ti. Right. You still hold both of those titles.

Speaker C: Both, yes.

Speaker B: And so, um, before that, like you, you have these passions to help with children and support these ministries. But God put you in this place where now it can be magnified because people know your name. And I love to say that God is a God who likes to show up and show off. And that is. Girl, girl. That is what he is doing here. And I just think it's so amazing because he's giving you or he's elevating that platform for you so that other people can one hear about him. Because in our two hour conversation, like every other sentence, we were talking about what the Lord has done in your life, in my life and our family's lives and also to help these children. Mhm. Mhm. And I just think that, you know, I, I can't think right off the top my head what the, the, the scripture is. But where the Lord is talking about like of the least of these. It is the children. Right? It's the children that we need to. Because they're the next generations. They are the next ones coming up. And so the passion that you have to help, uh, give the influence or give the support or whatever that looks like for these children who are either dealing with cancer or autism or illness or different things is just uh, a beautiful way that the Lord is using you to glorify himself. Honestly.

Speaker C: Yeah, it's been amazing. Um, I was our conversation previously. Um, I've been able to write three books from April to July. And so basically the it's regarding. It's loosely based on my um, daughter Prince, Princess Aaliyah. It's Princess Aaliyah book series. And it's teaching children the virtue of serving and having courage and having hope. But God is woven into those stories as well. So it's my way of sharing that ministry to children and training them up and where they should go so they do not depart from it. And being a community leader, it's. It's my duty as a fellow believer to just witness to God and what he can do. And it's whether through story or like a craft like they. Like some of the children I got to because I did a queen story time for at a school, and, um, I wore my sash and crown and I read the story, but they did like this golden paper craft crown and they were so proud of it and that impact of it. They wore it the rest of the day. They were all the way home. Some didn't even want to take it off before going to bed or taking a shower. And they just loved it. They loved the story. And, um, I think with stories it really resonates, you know, to every child. It takes them to a different place. And especially when they're going through something so dark, like going through chemotherapy and, you know, having treatment after treatment and just not, you know, facing the unknown. It's nice to have a book that roots you not just in Christ, but also, um, just takes you to another place and calms you down and relieves some of that stress and anxiety of the treatment and the chemotherapy and just takes you to, like, another magical place where you can just feel, feel inspired and have it be faith filled as well.

Speaker B: Well, imagination is such a beautiful place for children and even adults, quite honestly. Like, I can think of times as a child where I would escape to my imagination. Um, and even as adult, there have been times where I'm like, you know, you can just imagine what, what heaven would be like or what your next year is going to look like or whatever. And it really takes a beautiful place. And I don't even know if we talked about this earlier, but, um, this is my 26th year of homeschooling my children. My youngest is now 18. And the biggest thing that I have said over all of these years is that reading outside of your walk with the Lord, reading is the most important thing in homeschooling. Because let's just be honest, I was always the homeschool nerd mom until Covid hit. And then everyone thought I was, you know, superwoman, because, like, there nobody else in the world knew how to. I mean, unless you were already a homeschooler. You know, everybody had a homeschool. And so they were like, oh, my gosh, this girl, she's been doing it for a hot minute. And, uh, that's the thing that I Revert people back to all the time. Read, read, and read some more. I promise you that early on, my kids, that's all we did was read. Because you can learn so much from reading. I mean, you can't learn math usually from reading, but there's a lot of things you can learn from reading. And so I love that that is part of your platform is writing these books that are based around faith in Christ and then all of the other pieces that can be added into that for their imagination, for education. It's just lovely. So what are the names of your books that you have out?

Speaker C: I have, um. A princess shines brightest when she Serves. Um, A princess leads with courage, and a, uh, princess finds hope. And so the. The princess Shines brightest when she serves, that's kind of based in her hometown. And then, um, a princess that leads with courage, that's based on the space coast of her going to space.

Speaker B: Oh, wow.

Speaker C: Becoming an astronaut. And. And then the third one is based in Egypt, and she loses something very important to her, and she's relying on God to help her find it. So m. And you can find all three of them on Amazon. They're all on Amazon.

Speaker B: Okay. And so if we just Google your name, or not Google, but, like, type in your name on Amazon.

Speaker C: Yeah, it should come up. I believe so. Yeah.

Speaker B: Okay, well, I'm sure. So I do have a lot of, uh, young mom listeners, and I have a, you know, a lot of kids myself that. And a lot of grandkids, so I can't wait for them to, uh, check it out. I want to get a copy from my house so that when my granddaughters come over. We have seven granddaughters and seven grandsons, and now the tiebreaker is to be due in January.

Speaker C: Oh. Oh, okay.

Speaker B: The girl as well. So we're gonna be. We're gonna be strong on the girl side for. For once. I think it's the first time that we've had more granddaughters than grandsons. But anyway, it's exciting. So, um. Okay, so let's even go back a little bit further before you started in this, in your, you know, building up your plat before the pageantries, before the platform, you were telling me a little bit about your story about living, uh, in different countries. Your. Your father, you grew up in, you know, in the military, and you went. Tell us a little bit about that, about your life experiences.

Speaker C: Um, so I was born in the San Francisco area, and shortly after that, we moved to Germany, and then we move Italy, and then we came back to the Bay Area to San Francisco, and I spent most of my childhood there. And then we moved to Washington and that's where we. I met my. Our mutual friend. Um, and I lived there for a few years and we felt called my, My family, my husband and, and me and my daughter, we felt called to move to Florida. And it's been amazing ever since. So, yeah, it's. It's been great. I mean, it's. It's nice to see that. I mean, I did traveling in between those times too. I've been to Ireland, I've been to London, um, because I was supposed to go to Michael Jackson, the, um, the O2 shows that. This is it. I had two sets of tickets and. But I still went on the trip and it was amazing. But it's been amazing to see the world and get different cultures. Um, I mean, I'm half Filipino myself, so I've seen all different kinds of cultures and it's. It's been amazing to see the world and it's been a blessing. And also, like you. You see the heart of it. Like, children always, like, stood out for me, like, the children's ministry and just witnessing, um, to children so that they can just love Jesus and understand who he is and, um, connect with him. And I believe I. I feel like the children's ministry is more fun than in the regular ministry sometimes because they have like, puppet shows and plays and all kinds of things. It's amazing. And it's just, it's fun to really express yourself in that and just immerse yourself in that culture.

Speaker B: So when would you say was the first time that you got involved with children's ministry type, Whether that was, you know, through church organization or hospitals or. Because you were medical field as well?

Speaker C: Oh, yes. Yeah. Um, so I was in the medical field for about 10 years right after college because I went for medical billing. So I did like the ministrative side of the medical field. Um, but I've been in the children's ministry probably since I was a teenager. So it's been a few, couple decades that I've been in the ministry. Um, and I've always felt called to, to, you know, bring a light in that sense. And my sister's like that too, where children will just see them. They'll see us and they'll just want to hug us and, and tell the. Tell us about their day. And their parents will be like, do you know them? And they're like, no, I just wanted to talk to her. And it's that light, like God gives You, that gift, that light, um, that children just, they, they come to, they want to, they want to know more who you are and they can feel like if you're that type of person that, you know, honors a child and listens to the child and sees them for who they are, it's like, it's mostly getting down on their level. I think a lot of people that they don't even realize, like, it's the posture, like I, uh, I'll be crouching down on the ground and just greeting every child because I, I love to like look at them at eye level and just, you know, speak to them, speak to their heart, speak to their spirit. Because children, uh, they just want to be loved, you know.

Speaker B: Yeah, well, and I think you just said something that's really impactful is that when we get down to their level, then kids aren't as afraid. You know, when a small child is up against an adult who's, you know, five five, five, eight, six foot, it can seem intimidating. But like you said, when you, when you get down on their level and you're kind of eye to eye to them, you feel like kids are just more open and they kind of let down their guard maybe.

Speaker C: Mhm. Yeah, for sure. Hm. It's a special connection too because, um, when kids, when you have that trust from kids. Well, one of the things that I've learned that is so heartbreaking is when I worked with, um, children who are victims of domestic violence, they didn't have that, they didn't have that because their trust was broken. So even if I got down on my level, it took them a little while to trust me because of what they've gone through and the trauma that they've gone through. But oh my gosh, when they trust you, they just want you. They don't want, they don't want anyone else. They want to go to Ms. Colleen, you know, and they just want to share their heart and pour their heart out to you. And it's, that's such an honor and a privilege to be able to be there for every child no matter what they've gone through. You know, children have feelings too. And I think back then a lot of people thought, and even with how I grew up, children are seen and not heard. But I don't believe that. Children need to be heard and seen and love.

Speaker B: Yeah, well, you're a lot younger than me, girl. But I do remember that that was something that was said when I was growing up. And I'm just going to be honest with you because I Just want to be transparent. I actually said that to my older kids. So my oldest son is 37. My youngest is 18. And I remember saying that to my older kids. I'd be like, you know, children, you know, when they'd say something and we would kind of do it out of laughing kind of jokingly. You know, children are to be seen, not heard. And, uh. But when I was a kid, it wasn't a joke. It was like, seriously, like, um, you don't need to voice your opinion. And I think that is why a lot of kids even thinking back to, like, the whole Michael Jackson thing, when there was a lot of abuse that was going on, and I've heard people say, well, that was just part of that generation. And probably so, like, I got, uh, spanked with a belt. I never considered it beating. But in today's age, that would be considered, you know, in this world. I mean, who knows what this world is these days? But anyways, I don't know where I got started on that, other than I remember saying that to my own kids. And now I'm just like, I. I want my kids to talk more. Like, I want to hear what they have to say. And my grandkids, girl, I got a lot of them, and so I want to hear what they have to say. Even though sometimes, you know, if they're all together, it's a lot of conversation, but I definitely hear what they have to say.

Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, um, especially with my daughter, uh, she has so much to say. It's so funny because she's so shy when she first. First meets somebody, but she just. She sees the. Because she's such an avid reader, she loves to read, too. And when she was little, I would say about, uh, since she was a newborn, I read to her all her whole life, and ever since she could. She learned how to walk, we went to the library. And she. I think part of that, too, my love for literacy is through her as well, because I've seen what it can do for my child and. And how many doors it's open for her. And, um, she just. She comprehends, uh, the world around her a little differently, and she. She questions it. And. Because she wants to know more and she wants to have more knowledge, and it just. It opens up new doors and, um, much more wisdom. And they say knowledge is power. And, you know, she. She just wants to learn everything, and she has so much to say, and she wants to be heard, and I think that's really special. And she's helped me a lot. The um, projects that I've done and the initiatives that I've done, like the courage baskets, um, I. We made baskets for children who are, um, battling critical illness for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, and she wanted to help me put them together. So it consisted of, like, my book, A princess shines brightest when she serves, um, a toy, a blanket, a game, a craft, and then a handwritten note. And she had the handwritten note. She wrote one on the top, and I wrote one in the bottom in the card. And she wanted to be part of every single, um. Uh, every single part of that. So from the moment we made the baskets and put them together to the moment we deliver them, and she was a part of them. I have to send you pictures, too. But, yeah, she. She loves that. And. And then even the Teails and Tiaras event that I did for the children battling cancer and their families in partnership with Base camp, they. She, um, packed all their little, like, goodie bags. Um, she helped us set up. She, you know, connected with the kids. She became friends with some of the kids as well that were there. And she. She just loves on people, and she has so such a heart of compassion. And I think, too, because of her love for Christ, because she's. She's even witnessed on the playground, girl, like, I've had mom come and tell me, like, oh, your daughter's preaching the gospel to my daughter today. She said, um, do you know, I really would love for you to come to heaven with me. Do you know Jesus? Do you have him in your heart? And I'm like, are you serious? And that. I mean, she has such a love for Jesus. And I think, honestly, that's her compassion, where her compassion comes from. Because even before she really knew how to say words, I remember we were reading this children's Bible that, um, Pastor Judah Smith and his wife Chelsea Smith wrote, and she. There's a picture of Jesus on the cross. And, um, he. He was laying there on the cross. And she goes, that's a sad, sad day, Mommy. That's a sad day. Jesus died on the cross. I'm like, but what. What's the good news? And she's like, he rose again. And she understood that even before she could really, like, speak a lot of words. Like, she understood that as a child, as a baby. And I think, like, that passion has come through. Even. She's seven now, and she's. She loves Jesus so much. And I'm, um. It's funny because she inspires me. It's not, uh, I'm sure it's the other way around too, but she inspires me every day. And I could tell you a whole story too. Like her medical journey of just bringing her here on Earth. And the enemy was really against that because he knew the kind of impact my daughter could make.

Speaker B: And.

Speaker C: And I kept proclaiming over her life. And I had, um, people praying at church as well. They're like. I'm like, she's going to be a light in this world, and she's gonna. She's gonna change the world. Revival's gonna come through her. And because they thought she was gonna have down syndrome, she had a echogenic focus on her heart. Um, so there's like, there's a light. There was two lights on her heart, and they're like, she's gonna have down syndrome. I'm like, no, I don't think so. And there. They actually wanted me to abort her. And I'm like, no, we don't believe in that. Like, every. Every life is precious, and she has a purpose. And we believe every child is in the womb, knitted in the womb by God, and she has purpose on her life. And I'm also Asian, and I know that's a. That could be a common thing is echogenic focus on her heart. And, like, the reason why there's a light on her heart is because that's Jesus shining through her heart. And she's going to change the world in that sense. And lo and behold, we prayed and prayed, and she. She's perfectly fine, you know? And, um, I have a special place in my heart for children who have down syndrome as well. Because I just think of her story and I. I mean, how much more amazing would that be to have someone to have a child that has down syndrome? And they're so loving. They're loving and kind and happy people, and I don't care any other way. And any way that God would have it, I would love my child no matter what. And she's inspired me. She inspired those books as well for me. And, um, she continues to inspire me in, uh, the journey and everything I'm doing.

Speaker B: I love that. I. I have a friend who, I think. I don't know. I think she has. I think she has 10 kids. We come from big. Lots of big families in the homeschool. In the homeschool realm. But, uh, her youngest was born with Down's syndrome. And I, uh, remember her saying, they were so blessed. They were so blessed to have been selected as the parents to this down syndrome because of how this Child has changed their life when in, in most, you know, realms today we would think, oh, oh no, my child might have down syndrome. It's, you know, please pray. We, you know, and I think that's just our human nature is that we would, you know, we want our children to be born perfect. But they are born perfect because it's exactly the way that God created them to be. But sometimes we get lost in the shuffle of that.

Speaker C: Yeah, that's true.

Speaker B: Anyways, well, girl, I know that you are on a time crunch after our two hour meeting earlier, but I did want to ask you what is next for you as far as your, your, your pageantry is. Is there anything next on the schedule for you?

Speaker C: Well, I'm hoping to take Stories of Hope not just locally here in the county, but I want to spread it out throughout the state, um, and go to different regional hospitals like Tampa and Miami and um, hopefully, um, spread it nationwide. Especially with the partnership with, uh, Reading is fundamental. I think it'd be very important, um, to just include like other pageant title holders, uh, people who would love to dress up as superheroes and do story time, uh, doctors, community leaders, uh, police officers, firefighters, just at their local regional hospital, whatever's closest to them. Just offer to do a story time and give that time to the kids. And it wouldn't be just me. I would love to incorporate all kinds of people on this journey and just have them bless children through that experience and just make that type of positive, faith filled impact in the, in their own community.
