Episode notes

Green bonds didn’t always signal credibility. In 2015, most issuers had never heard of them, and structuring teams were making it up as they went. That meant structuring teams had to educate issuers from scratch, with little precedent or clear frameworks. In fact, most deals were being figured out in real-time. Today, sustainable finance has grown into the trillions, but credibility remains a core issue. In a world of evolving taxonomies, rising greenwashing risks, and shrinking new issuance, knowing what’s authentic (and investable) requires more than a label. Romina Reversi has lived this evolution from the inside. She helped build JP Morgan’s ESG debt business and now leads sustainable investment banking across the Americas at Crédit Agricole, structuring over 500 sustainable finance deals, including Apple’s first green bond and Uruguay’s pioneering step-up/step-down SLB.
