KS 425 - Work With, Not For: The Divine Partnership

going on team Successful . This is Tyler McHart coming at you , episode 425 . Excited to be able to do this episode with you guys . I'm actually on a walk right now Trying to get my heart rate up a little bit , but I'd like for you to join me .

Join me on this walk . We're just going to talk about Jesus , we're going to talk about marketplace kingdom , how they all intertwine together , how to be more effective in the marketplace by leading of the Holy Spirit . I'm excited about that . But before I jump into this episode , I want to just give a shout out real quick to you know what I'm doing and if you have any interest in actually learning some more about what I'm doing professionally , I would highly recommend it .

So there's two things . One I'm actually helping people helping really men fathers create a vision , create a plan , create values for their family , just like a business plan that you would have for your business . What I've done is come alongside of other actually business owners not business owners fathers that are godly men that want to take their family and have a plan for their family , not just kind of going through life as happenstance . Because there's one thing I learned about John Maxwell .

I was rolling up the road taking my kids to school and I got to talking about how that my oldest , tyler , is getting ready to turn 16 , so he's going to get a vehicle . But I was just walking them through kind of why and how a little bit of why we're actually going to and how a little bit of why we're actually going to do a policy loan actually out with Tyler and how he'll pay that back and how that actually really he's actually paying himself back long term . So it is such an amazing concept that that's why Holy Spirit's had me share this with people .

I'm excited about it . I know I've talked about this topic again before , but you know sometimes you can't hear a topic enough , especially if you're a driven person , a person that is out there on the front lines of actually creating income for your family . You have a business , you have a job , a sales professional . You're trying to do this thing and you're wanting to make it happen , but you also don't want to get burned out .

You don't want to get so fatigued because you realize that that's not how God made this . God didn't make you to get burned out about your whole job situation . So how does that work ? Well , I actually attended a conference or a seminar this past Friday .

It started at 8 o'clock in the morning and went all the way to 3 o'clock in the afternoon . The name of it was actually Faith Driven Entrepreneurs . And what a fantastic conference . At the conference , the gentleman Stephen , who was hosting pretty much the whole entire event Stephen , who is hosting pretty much the whole entire event he said this real simple thing how that , instead of working for the Lord , that you begin to work with the Lord , that there is a major difference .

And I've spoken about this on my podcast , but I wanted to bring this back up and bring this back to light of what does it look like to work for the Lord versus with the Lord . So I've got some notes here that I'm to kind of use is actually the scripture of Proverbs , 22 , verse 29 . If you know of anything like me , if you've ever heard my podcast before , you know that 22 , verse 29, . Do you see any competent workers ?

All right , I'm going to read the New Living Translation , so it might be a little different , but it's a good little translation . Do you see any truly competent workers ? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people . And it made me think about Bezalel all right , about Bezalel , all right , bezalel in Exodus 31 , where the Lord did not call someone from the tribe of Levi , which is the Levitical tribe , to actually construct the tabernacle .

So this is going to be the first place , first time the children of Israel would say , hey , here's where we're going to go , here's where we're going to sacrifice , here's where we're going to commune and meet with the Lord . So this was a big deal . And the Lord tells Moses that he calls out Bezalel because he has a spirit of wisdom , spirit of insight . And I believe that it even says in the New Living Translation , in verse 5 , he is skilled in engraving , mounting gemstones and carved wood .

Here's where he is a master at every craft . I really like that a lot . So I know that every entrepreneur person that is going out there doing any kind of profession , you want to be the best at what you are . I hope that's you .

If that's not you , then we got another conversation we need to have . But I believe that's where we're all at for the majority of my audience . But there's this tension , there's this thing that happens to us all . It's happened to me and I'm going to give you some examples of my own life .

Where that we began this whole thing of like man , we get this vision for the Lord or we get this thing . I'm going to work , you know , and I'm working for the Lord , working unto the Lord , right , and all of a sudden , man , we get frustrated , we get burnt out , we get tired and it goes to hell in a handbasket real quick . Well , what does it mean to work for the Lord ? All right , well , simply put , it looks something like this where you've got some sort of drive that the Lord has put upon your heart , but now you're like man , I'm headstrong , I'm hard charging , I'm going to go get this thing accomplished for the Lord and we're going to make this happen , and I'm going to be able to turn around and look at say , lord , I did this for you , right , when the Lord doesn't want you to do it for him , he wants you to do it with him .

When the Lord doesn't want you to do it for him , he wants you to do it with him . Okay , you're going to be striving , self-effort , measuring your success . I wrote this down Measuring your success by your own hands . Yeah , measuring your own success by your own hands .

I remember very distinctly , just as a point of reference , where that I actually , when I got to college and I was doing track and field , I was sold out to the Lord . I really was . I wanted to glorify His name . He had given me the scholarship to Coastal Carolina University and I was excited about it .

Well , I remember my first , really three years , my freshman , sophomore , junior year . Man , I was working like a dog . I mean , I probably was putting in , at minimum workout-wise , at least two to three hours of training just on the track , and then I would go into the weight room and put another two to three hours , and that was at least five to six times a week . And I was not .

And if you had stopped me , stopped me and said , hey , tyler , you know who are you doing this for ? I'd say , man , I'm doing it for Jesus , doing it for Jesus , jesus gets the glory . Glory to God . That would be what my mindset would have been .

That was exactly what I would have said to you . Now , was anything wrong with that ? Not really , but could have been better Absolutely . Hence comes in my senior year , my senior year .

All of a sudden I had a new mindset . I had a new mindset . I started setting . I remember I got a mentor .

His name was Mr Cerny . I started setting . I remember I got a mentor . His name was Mr Cerny .

He challenged me to start to put parameters around my workouts to where I would give maximum effort during a certain period of time and then I would stop . That would be it . I would move on to my next thing . I remember that took a lot of faith for me to actually do that , because I just remember working had become really more my God .

My work ethic had become more my God than actually the actual you know , trusting the Lord and that he was going to produce the results . So I would stop . I remember I would be working out , I'd be training with all the athletes that I would be out there with , and then after about two hours of being out there , no matter where I was at in my workout , I would stop and I would go on to the gym and again I would do the workout . But I would go on to the gym and again I would do the workout , but I would set a time and whenever that time was done I was done well , moving forward .

And the other thing that I did , that I implemented during that time was where I actually implemented a full sabbath rest where I didn't do any homework , I didn't do any training , none whatsoever . During that year , uh , of my of college man , let me tell you something During that year , not only did I throw the hammer far enough to almost qualify or , yeah , really , almost go to the Olympic trials , but I also made the Dean's List . How about that ? Never done that before .

But here I was , my senior year , putting timetables and putting not putting pressure , but just trusting that the Lord would take the work that I was doing and he would multiply it , he would actually make it happen . This was the difference , the difference between working for the Lord and working with the Lord . I began to have this rhythm , this flow , this peace . It was like I was yoked with the Lord .

What it says in Matthew 11 , verse 28 to 30 , it says my yoke is easy . And I just had this picture in my head back then of these two oxen working together , yoked together . One is obviously leading , but still the other one is still working right alongside of that oxen , one of them's not getting ahead of the other , because if one of them gets ahead of the other , it messes the whole thing up . This is where I was at .

And there's this joint venture , guys , this divine partnership that we have with the Lord , where you develop your competency Okay , hear me . You develop you , you become an expert at the field of endeavor that you're in . Then you actually partner , then you actually add in , you actually become , you know , holy Spirit led with your decision-making , with your rhythms that you have . You're not trying to outwork the system , you're not trying to figure it all out and say , oh , I'm just going to trust on exactly what I've learned through this whole entire thing .

No , you know , when a situation comes up or you go into a meeting , you acknowledge the Lord . You say Lord , hey , look , I know you've given me the skills and everything like that to know how to work this , but you know what ? I'm going to rely upon you to give me the insight , to know if there's something , a check . Just the Holy Spirit , you know , do your thing .

Lead me . That right . There is the very first thing you can do , that you have to invite Holy Spirit into your daily work . That's a critical , critical piece , critical piece of inviting him in your daily work .

More , mr Bobby , morning Mr Bobby . The next thing you've got to release control , man . You've got to release the control . Stop measuring only by what your effort produces , guys .

That's a major , major point right there of releasing the control . Stop measuring only by your effort . This is where that you can get so frustrated , you can get so burnt out . I know what I did was whenever I got into corporate america I actually took my old work ethic , mindset , what I did my freshman , sophomore , junior and just put it actually into the workforce and man again , I was for about seven years there being in the corporate arena and actually being in business .

I was one frustrated Jose , totally one frustrated Jose , because I was all self-effort of my own . Thirdly , you've got to rest in rhythm . Now here's what that looks like You've got to watch for signs of striving versus flowing . This actually has to do with your peace .

If you feel like you're getting frustrated with a certain situation , I can go ahead and tell you you're striving because now , watch this , watch this . It's something I learned when you're in faith , you're never frustrated . I hope that kind of settles in with you right there . When you're in faith , you're never frustrated .

When you're in faith , you're never striving , you're at peace , you're actually at rest . The highest form of faith is actually resting in the Lord , trusting that he is the one that's going to bring this to pass . You know you're working unto the Lord , right . You know you're working unto the lord , right you're .

You have to watch yourself and kind of govern yourself in the middle of the day and say , oh , am I striving right here ? Am I flowing ? What does it look like ? Where am I at ?

You have to have like a little self-governing uh thing on you to say I gotta back off of this . I'm getting really too close to this right now . I'm in too deep . I'm trying to outwork this .

I've got to slow it down . The fourth thing is you have to reframe your success . Your success really is not yourself . It's not your success .

You're working with the Lord . So what does the Lord say ? What success is ? I mean , he clearly I've talked about it so much before but faithfulness is what success is to the Lord you being faithful to what he has called you to do , not trying to get over and done and trying to over-anx it , but actually staying behind the cloud .

Staying behind the cloud . You've got to redefine success , reframe it so that you actually know what you're doing and not getting over anxious . So my challenge to you , this is my , this is my challenge . You got two challenges .

Ask yourself in the middle of the day , ask yourself am I working for the Lord in my own strength or am I working with the Lord in my own strength , or am I working with the Lord , with his partnership and his grace ? Just do a little self-check . You might need to put a little notification on your phone . You might need to put a little reminder or send yourself an email sometime periodically during the day , or text message .

You can do a send later , right , just to kind of check yourself , right . And also , I'll say this right here you know this blessed you . If this actually helped you kind of think through what you're trying to do , you thought of somebody that needs to hear this . I would ask you to share this with that person Now , with 10 people not blasting on social media , just with one person .

Not with 10 people not blasting on social media , just with one person . Okay , just one person . That's what I would ask ? Because , gang , I want us to be like Bezalel .

Okay , that's where we want to be . We want to be a master craftsman of excellence . But how we do that is , we actually take our competency . We have to become competent in what we do .

That's the whole partnership . And then we partner up with Holy Spirit to allow him to work within our competency . We never stop learning , we never stop growing , but at the end of the day , you've got to partner with Holy Spirit , you've got to rely upon him . So , kingdom of success , know that you're blessed , you're highly favored , you're empowered to prosper .

You walk in divine health . Spirit of breakthrough is upon you , guys and gang , we'll catch you on the other side .
