Forged in Fire: LGBTQ+ Leadership ranks #4110 on The B2B Podcast Index with a substance score of 55.0 out of 100, scored across 1 recent episode. It scores highest on guest caliber and insight density. Graham Grimor is a genuine long-tenure practitioner who has run editorial operations at a real LGBTQ media brand with ~5 million monthly readers, giving him credibility as an operator. However, the operation is small (four full-time staff), the conversation never surfaces deep operational or strategic depth, and the relevance to a B2B operator audience is limited.
Averaged across 1 recently scored episode, with cited evidence.
The episode contains a few useful observations about media dynamics - advertiser retreat from LGBTQ content, the audience-first editorial approach, and the shift toward short-form - but these are sandwiched between extended career narrative, generic career platitudes, and off-topic tangents (Eurovision, dog interjections). The ratio of novel insight to filler is poor for a 34-minute runtime.
“Managing people is just about inspiring them”
“like, you know, why not me? If somebody else can do it, why can't I do it?”
The episode largely recycles well-worn career advice - pivot when necessary, embrace rejection, fake it till you make it, imposter syndrome is universal - without adding a genuinely new angle. The observation about post-election advertiser flight from LGBTQ content is the most topical and underexplored idea but receives only superficial treatment.
“it makes me think of that meme. Maybe you guys have seen it. It's like carry yourself with the confidence of a mediocre straight white male”
“advertisers too have been shying away from media outlets that they fear are too political or have too much representation”

“QWERTY has almost 5 million monthly readers”
“I have a full time team that I work with every day of four full time and then two part time contributors, plus a handful of other freelancers”
There are isolated concrete data points - team headcount, reader volume, the Minneapolis ICE incident, the guest's start year - but the episode is pervasively vague: the guest admits not knowing what year he became EIC, rounds metrics loosely ('tens of thousands'), and frequently speaks in abstractions without grounding claims in named data or examples.
“I'd have to go back and look at what the numbers were, but it was like tens of thousands of. Of clicks and reads and shares”
“I should know the year, but I don't. It's like 2022, I think”
The hosts ask structured, thematically relevant questions and do attempt follow-ups, but every question is open and affirming - there is no challenge, no pushback, and no redirection when the guest loses track of questions mid-answer or meanders. The conversational format produces a PR-friendly tone rather than a probing one.
“That is a great question. And the answer is, actually, I was just. I wanted to be a writer”
“Yeah, uh, so many. I mean, it's. It's crazy.”

Such a great perspective on leadership. I enjoy each episode and learn to expand my world view each time I press play. This podcast makes its listeners more empathetic.

While I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community I think this podcast is great for all leaders! The first few episodes have been amazing with some enthusiastic guests and great resources. I can’t wait for the next episode!
