Doing It Online ranks #1709 on The B2B Podcast Index with a substance score of 47.5 out of 100, scored across 2 recent episodes. It scores highest on insight density and originality. The episode offers four distinct frameworks (focus over ideas, upgrades over more/new, building for future business, seeking outside perspective) that are somewhat useful but heavily padded with storytelling, self-promotion, and repetition. The Pinterest anecdote consumes significant runtime before the actual pattern is named, and the core insights - while valid - are not deeply unpacked with surprising depth or counterintuitive twists.

“The difference between my version of Pinterest and actual Pinterest was never the idea. The difference is that they got clear, they got focused, they went all in.”
“What moves my number next? And then she puts a disproportionate, almost rude amount of attention there. Not more things. Fewer things. Bigger.”
The frameworks presented (focus, upgrade sequences, systems thinking, seeking advisors) are well-established B2B scaling principles already circulating in coaching and SaaS spaces. While packaged cohesively, none of the core ideas represent contrarian or first-principles thinking; the 'plateau as upgrade opportunity' framing is the closest to fresh but still conventional wisdom for experienced operators.
“You will hit a ceiling. You'll hit many ceilings.”
“Real growth looks like this. A bit of growth, a small jump, then a plateau that hangs around just long enough to mess with your head.”
This is a solo monologue by the host with no guest present. Kate McKibben appears to be a coach/consultant selling a program rather than an operator with demonstrated scaling track record at meaningful scale. No credible practitioner perspective is brought to validate claims.
“This is a solo episode with no guest participation.”
The episode relies almost entirely on the Pinterest anecdote and abstract principles without naming client examples, specific metrics, revenue figures, or concrete case studies. Claims like 'women at your level' and 'six figure months' are vague; no data, timelines, or named businesses illustrate the patterns beyond the host's own invented-but-not-executed idea.
“I called it love it, share it, or something lame like that.”
“The 20k a month version of a business will happily tolerate things that an 80k a month version cannot.”
This is a monologue with no genuine conversation, pushback, or Socratic questioning. The host talks at the listener with rhetorical questions ('I bet you knew which one it was') rather than engaging in dialogue. No one challenges the claims, no nuance emerges from debate, and the entire structure is a linear pitch for the host's program, undermining any conversational learning dynamic.
“Do not score yourself out of four. Look for the one that feels like a gut punch, that feels a bit too close to home.”
“One of those, I bet, felt a little too close to home. And I bet you knew which one it was before I even finished the list.”

At first, I sort-of hoarded Kate’s content to reduce the intimidation factor of starting an online business - because she’s straightforward and clear about actionable steps. Now I’ve moved into taking action instead of thinking about it, and I appreciate the no-gatekeeping approach even more. Great stuff. Easy to implement. Love it.
