Episode notes

In this episode, I want to talk to you about a concept that, once you understand it, you genuinely cannot unsee. It changes how you look at successful people. It changes how you look at your own life. And it gives you a framework for making decisions that I wish someone had handed me when I was your age. It's called The Four Burner Theory. The idea originally comes from the writer David Sedaris, who wrote about it in a piece in The New Yorker back in 2009. He had heard it from a woman in Australia, who had heard it at a management seminar. It was later popularized by an author named James Clear, who you'll probably read someday - he wrote a book called Atomic Habits. And from there, it has quietly haunted high performers for years.
