Episode notes

Send us Fan Mail Why 82% of Middle Managers Are Burned Out& What Regulated Leaders Do Differently Middle managers are burning out at unprecedented rates: 82% report burnout, 53% are swamped, 40% say their mental stress increased after promotion. But this isn't about individual failure or workload management. It's about organizational dysregulation cascading from the top. When executives lead from anxiety - demanding AI transformation yesterday, cost cuts tomorrow, and more results with less resources - that pressure lands on middle managers caught between dysregulated leadership above and anxious teams below. Their nervous systems can't handle it. The amygdala stays activated, cortisol floods the prefrontal cortex& clear thinking disappears. This is why leadership training fails: You can't build new skills on top of a dysregulated nervous system. Regulated leadership is the foundation, not the outcome. Regulated leaders do five things differently: They notice when middle managers are maxed out. They create actual recovery, not guilt-laden vacation. They teach nervous system regulation before asking for performance.
