The Scoop Podcast ranks #3326 on The B2B Podcast Index with a substance score of 60.0 out of 100, scored across 1 recent episode. It scores highest on guest caliber and insight density. Corbett Cull is a genuine operator who built and pivoted a real ag-tech company, giving him credible practitioner standing; however, the interview is structurally a product pitch, and his insights rarely transcend founder-marketing mode.
Averaged across 1 recently scored episode, with cited evidence.
There are a handful of practical, operationally useful ideas - share-of-wallet analysis, territory resource allocation from public data, and matching internal sales data to external farm footprint - but the episode is padded with generic enthusiasm and startup-pitch language that drowns out the substance.
“share of wallet. Okay, I have a producer who is a customer. How much do I think of his total spend am I getting each year?”
“we're bringing in crop, uh, history data from Cropscape, uh, additional data sets from uh, the usda just run USDA subsidy payments, uh, trucking information, information on livestock”
The sharpest observation - that generic CRMs have repeatedly failed in ag sales - is a genuine and credible critique, but most other ideas (AI will help, farmers buy from people, tools should fit workflows) are recycled B2B SaaS talking points painted in ag colours.
“CRMs are kind of a four letter word in agriculture. Right. You know it's uh, there have been many uh, failed attempts at taking generic tools and giving them to an ag sales team”
“You can't just go into chat GPT or something and say hey, give me a list of farmers. That's just not the way it works”
Corbett Cull is a genuine operator who built and pivoted a real ag-tech company, giving him credible practitioner standing; however, the interview is structurally a product pitch, and his insights rarely transcend founder-marketing mode.
“Tillable was a farmland rental, uh, marketplace. And all along the way as we were building uh, out that company, we had some other companies that were using our core software platform. And it just got to the point where uh, our software business and uh, the work that we were doing just supporting other agriculture, uh, companies had gotten uh, bigger”
“we're working with a number of uh, top five ag retailers, uh, in the United States and some of the largest uh, ag input companies”
Named data sources (Cropscape, USDA subsidy payments, SSURGO soil data) and update cadences (land transactions daily, crop history annually) add real texture, but the episode has zero outcome metrics, no named customers, and no dollar figures or ROI examples.
“in terms of, let's say land transactions, we're bringing in land transaction data literally, uh, daily”
“the crop history data, that's typically once per year, um, the servo soil data, I think that's typically updated about once, um, per year”
Questions are sequential and polite but almost entirely softball; the host never challenges a claim, never asks for a concrete customer example or a number, and the flow is interrupted by two sponsor reads, one of which is a full scripted Q&A segment unrelated to the main topic.
“Well, and if I could ask from your own personal side of things, you've been involved in ag technology in a couple of different iterations and building companies and bringing ideas forward. What gives you energy the most about camo ag?”
“So really, you guys are a newer entrant into this space. Why is now the time for a solution like what CAMOAG is bringing forward?”
