Episode notes

Vehicle manufacturers on the European market have a new set of rules to play by: since July 7, 2024, the EU’s General Safety Regulation (GSR) requires all new cars, buses, and trucks to include Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning (DDAW) systems. At the same time, Euro NCAP are expanding their scope to provide detailed information about the safety of heavy trucks via an innovative Truck Safe City and Highway rating scheme. As legislators and rating institutes are raising the bar for road safety , many car, bus, and truck manufacturers may find themselves struggling to answer a whole new set of complex questions.
