Joel Bauer, a legendary platform speaker trainer and presentation expert, shares the foundational principles behind his 10 rules for presentation and persuasion. The conversation centers on the Dream Card, a wallet-sized tool that functions as a personal covenant across five critical life dimensions: relationship, environment, passion, purpose, and wealth/health. Rather than generic motivational advice, Bauer emphasizes that most people fail to articulate what they actually want, making the Dream Card a mechanism for decision-making alignment - asking whether each choice serves your stated aspirations. Bauer's methodology emerged organically from 11 years on cruise ships and 17 years on trade show floors, where he distilled persuasion down to four universal human needs: home, time with family, and money. His framework rejects both high-pressure sales tactics and theoretical education in favor of authentic communication grounded in the listener's core values. Having trained over 2 million people and worked with companies like Motorola, Mitsubishi, IBM, and Disney, Bauer positions his approach as humanity-centered, addressing why AI and volume tactics will never replace genuine leadership and one-on-one connection in selling or teaching.

Key takeaways

  • →The Dream Card - identifying five people who exemplify relationship, environment, passion, purpose, and wealth/health - is the foundational decision-making tool that prevents self-imposed limitations and poverty mindset from blocking goal achievement.
  • →Persuasion succeeds when you reduce any message to the four core human drivers: home, time with family, and money - the emotional truth beneath all selling and presenting.
  • →Most people cannot articulate how they want to be perceived, received, or believed in, making clarity of personal vision the prerequisite before packaging, positioning, or presenting anything.
  • →The application close (positioning yourself as selective, like Harvard or Princeton admissions) creates demand without manipulation and ensures you only work with people disciplined and committed enough to succeed.
  • →Every decision should be filtered through a single question: 'Is this move in direct alignment with my dreams, aspirations, and outcomes, or am I sabotaging myself?'

Questions this episode answers

What is the Dream Card and how does it work?

The Dream Card is a license-sized card listing five life categories (relationship, environment, passion, purpose, wealth/health), each paired with a person who embodies that role. You carry it as a personal covenant and use it as a decision filter by asking: 'Is this move aligned with my dreams and aspirations, or am I sabotaging myself?' If you lack someone in any category, that's your first problem to solve.

What are the four universal drivers Joel Bauer identifies in persuasion?

Home, time with family, and money - these are the emotional truths beneath every pitch, regardless of industry or product. Bauer distilled this from 17 years on trade show floors selling everything from electronics to equipment; when he connected any product or process to these four needs, results followed organically.

How does Joel Bauer teach people to close without being salesy or manipulative?

He teaches the application close, positioning yourself as selective and high-standard (like Harvard or Princeton admissions). Prospects hope to be accepted rather than feeling sold to; you only accept people you know have the discipline and follow-through to succeed with your offering.

Why does Joel Bauer say most people's dreams don't manifest?

Most people rely on a single person to fulfill all five Dream Card roles, and that person often has a poverty mindset or self-imposed limitations that cannot transport them where they need to go. Building a diverse team across the five categories is essential.

What does Joel Bauer mean by 'positioning yourself as an absolute authority'?

Once you know what you offer and how you want to be perceived, you package and position yourself to be in the minority - the handful actually making a real difference - rather than competing in the crowded majority of undifferentiated speakers or sellers.

Insight Density

6 / 20

The episode promises '10 rules to present, pitch, and persuade' but never enumerates them; instead it meanders through autobiography, motivational platitudes, and surface-level frameworks (attract/convert/leverage/retain/automate) without substantive depth. A few concepts like the Dream Card and home/time/family/money framework appear briefly but are not developed into actionable insights.

home time, family and money. This is the result of, uh, 17 years under fire on the trade show floors
they don't need 500 methods to close. They need to close without feeling salesy or manipulative

Originality

7 / 20

The Dream Card concept (a wallet-sized card with five life-area contacts as an ongoing decision filter) is a mildly interesting personal tool, but the surrounding philosophy - authenticity, teach from mastery, give massive value - is recycled coaching-industry doctrine without contrarian or first-principles argumentation.

Is the move I'm making now in direct alignment with my dreams, aspirations and outcomes, or am I sabotaging myself with this very move?
I don't believe in them finding their voice. They already have their voice. They've been talking their whole life. They're just not able to monetize

Guest Caliber

11 / 20

Joel Bauer has genuine practitioner credentials - trade show work with Apple, Motorola, IBM, Disney, a student (Russell Brunson) who broke his sales records - but the episode positions him primarily as a coaching-product seller, and he spends most of the runtime telling his personal origin story rather than demonstrating deep domain expertise applicable to a B2B operator.

I end up with Motorola, Mitsubishi, all these big companies
up until one of his students, Russell Brunson... Topped his record

Specificity & Evidence

9 / 20

There are a handful of concrete data points - Peng Joon's $10M first year and $25M last year, a $4,000 price point, 'two minutes and 36 seconds, first table rush' - but these are isolated anecdotes mixed with large volumes of vague assertion ('radical results,' 'record setting closing rates') and the core frameworks are described without any supporting data or case-level detail.

he did his offer... $4,000 per sale on a system that he had built based upon my principles... two minutes and 36 seconds. First table rush
He did $10 million in his first year. Last year, over 25

Conversational Craft

5 / 20

The host asks warm, open-ended questions and never steers the conversation back to the episode's stated premise ('10 rules'), allowing the guest to deliver an extended promotional monologue; there are no substantive follow-ups, no pushback on vague claims, and the promised framework is never actually delivered.

Joel, I always start out with two easy questions
time has flown by. Uh, you know, I guess we're gonna have to have another conversation because there's so many more questions that I have for you

Speaker B: Welcome everyone to the Find you'd Leadership Confidence podcast. I'm your host, Vicki Netling, coming to you from Roswell, Georgia. The goal of this podcast is to bring topics and guests that will empower you to take your leadership to that next level. Today I'm very excited to bring to you Joel Bauer. And let me tell you about Joel. Some people call Joel the mentor's mentor. Others call him, uh, the godfather of the clothes or the world's best platform speaker trainer.

Speaker C: Ah.

Speaker B: Joel's career is the stuff of marketing and sales legend. His accomplishments and unique presentation antics are frequently the topic of high level insider shop talk. For over 33 decades, he his live events, systems and techniques have empowered starters and pros alike, uh, to discover, design and deliver the gift of on stage and online. His proven track record and methods have secured him clients like Motorola, Mitsubishi, IBM, Disney, and that's just to name a few. He presented from stages in front of hundreds of thousands with record setting closing rates. He's been on just about every major television network and too many newspapers to mention. And up to and up until one of his students, Russell Brunson. I'm, um, dropping names there, dropping names there. Topped his record. Joe had held the record for the first, second and third highest growth gross sales in a single stage. Joe's real gift for everyone is that if you're looking to connect and better serve and sell more, his legendary 20 move matrix is what you need to find out about. So we're going to talk today though about what he has on his website that really intrigued me. It's 10 rules to present, pitch and persuade anyone on anything. And all you entrepreneurs out there, I know you're just saying, okay, where's my paper, where's my pen? As always, you know I do have a slide that's going to give you some information about Joel at the end, but let's just go ahead and get into those questions. Joel, I always start out with two easy questions. If you've seen any of My podcasts first. Where do you live? Where do you call home?

Speaker C: Um, right now, Chatsworth, California. I'm in San, uh, Fernando Valley.

Speaker B: Ah, yeah.

Speaker C: You take care of. My mother in law's 97, so we have kind of a hospital set up here. Uh, my kids are all grown, so they've, you know, they're all over Tennessee and North Carolina. And then one of my daughters lives one of her homes down the street. So we're really here not because we're crazy about California, but it gets complicated. Family.

Speaker B: Yeah.

Speaker C: Um, down the street and my wife, uh, I want you to know this, the reason we live in this ridiculous house that I bought with what I made at one presentation, which floored me because I never thought I'd be able to live here because I visited this area when I was about 18 and I first moved to LA and one presentation acquired this home. And my wife wants to keep the house for one reason. She wants my kids to know that if anything ever goes wrong, they can always come home. So bedrooms, we can take the whole family in. And her mother at 97 is cranking. Uh, she's sharp. She was a closer. So I have a lot in common with her. She was a nice. The only female tin man in the business.

Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.

Speaker C: Come to her. Yeah. Remarkable.

Speaker B: That is great. Oh, my goodness. And it is, it is important family. You know, I, um, can relate to that. My family up in Pittsburgh, most, there's seven kids and most of them live either on the 10 acres that my mom and dad have or nearby, except for the few of us that ventured south and west or east, I'm sorry, to Maryland. But it is important. So the second question is, I gave just a really wonderful background of what you do today, the great things that you've accomplished, but I'd love for you to just look a little bit back and talk about that journey and help us understand what drives you, what drove you to do what you do today, and why is it such a passion?

Speaker C: Yeah. Thank you very much for having me. Um, Steve Jobs. I got to work with Apple for many years doing their trade shows, their new product introductions and their events. And I was around him a lot and he talked about connecting the dots. And you can't do it till you look back. I don't think my life made any sense at all as I went through it. But when I look back, it all made sense. And I think there are people listening in here that will really appreciate this. Grandfather walked me into a magic shop when I was about 8 years old and I was very insecure. And my mother was told by her sister that I was mentally challenged. So I was a bit slow, okay? Suddenly I could do this magic trick badly. And I got attention for it and really positive attention, like some kudos. Next thing you know, I'm doing birthday parties, weddings, quesaneras, bar mitzvah, whatever, not making some money and I'm saving it. And my mother had never told me I couldn't do something like she never. She was so positive and because her parents had been so negative with her that she never told me I couldn't do it. So the next thing you know, I'm, um, going down in Miami and Biscayne Boulevard and I apply for a performance job on the cruise ships. I didn't even call them. I walk in with my little stand my doves. And the secretary says, who are you? And I said, I'm here to see. I looked up on the telephone, made a few calls. Brian Langston Carter is at the beginning of Carnival Cruise Lines. Came out of the Caribbean. They had a TSS Mardi Gras. So she said, there's a kid out here with fire torches, ping pong balls and birds. He didn't know what to do. So he said, send him down. So I walk in his office and I don't even know how to behave. So I plug in my mother's eight track stereo, eight track, okay, Music. And I start dancing around, producing the birds and whatnot in my neighbor's tails, right, that I borrowed. He says, stop, I get it. You're a magician. You want to work on the ships. I go, yeah. He says, sit down. He says, I'm not going to ask your age because I don't want to know. He says, uh, can you do what kind of shows do you do? And I said, well, what do you need? He said, I need an 11 minute intro, I need a 22 minute main show and I need a midnight special, which is 45 minutes. I said, interesting you say that. That's exactly what I do. That's the correct answer. That is yes. Seeing each other, I'm just obviously flexible and desirous. I'm going to make it happen. Uh, one month to the day, he puts me on the TSS Mardi Gras. And my mother didn't even care if I went to school. This is really bad. She believed that if a child knows what the child. Because this is her, she wanted to live a different life. Her parents pushed her and constricted her. And she didn't have the most Positive experience. So she let me go. And about four months on that ship, four months, like summer's over, she goes, do you think maybe you should go to school at some point? I go, I don't know, do you think I should go back? She says, stay another month. So I get off and she talks to school into putting me where I belonged. Right. So I was always behind. I was terrible in school. She said, if you know what you want to do, go do it. She thought school was kind of a delay. So here I am 11 years later and I'm still working on and off the cruise ships. I uh, put away a ton of money because you had nowhere to spend it. I have all these audience management skills and these direction skills and languaging skills because I'm learning from the cruise directors and the acts and I'm learning to be a part of a team. And I was very young, I was 13 and a half years old when I started. And so here I am now. And now they're putting me in charge of a ship. They put me on the festival.

Speaker B: Mhm.

Speaker C: I'm senior, uh, whatever. A lot of responsibility. And I realized that if I stay here, this went on for 11 years. If I stay on these ships, I'm never going to have a family.

Speaker B: No, that's right.

Speaker C: So I figure how do I take these skills now and how do I transition out of here? Because I had all these skills that would allow me to m. Motivate people to do something or buy something. Because we, we had to learn on a mastery level how to get them to buy the Rolexes and the go uh, to Seven seas and go to Bolero and add a Reese and whatever we had, we really. Because that was the whole world. And you thought you had all the answers. I got off of there a little arrogant because every question they would ask me I had the answer to because they only ask questions on vacation concerning there's only like 20 questions, the same questions. So I thought I actually knew something.

Speaker A: Okay.

Speaker C: Next thing you know, uh, off the ships, where am I going to use these skills? And my mom had taken me to trade shows as a kid.

Speaker B: Mhm.

Speaker C: And they always needed to build a crowd. And I said, well, I know how to do crowd management. And then I, I know how to convey a message and I can certainly collect leads because that's what we did on the ship. We'd all gather their information and comment cards. So it was all coming together. I started cold calling on trade show floors, which I learned from Paul diamond from a uh, little tiny manual. And I know they can't see this if they're listening, but this is the original. I paid $5.

Speaker B: Wow.

Speaker C: Money. And this is 12 pages, badly written. And this, this made me tens of millions of dollars because.

Speaker B: Guts, damn it.

Speaker C: Oh, yeah. He just said, figure out the result and walk in. So he had taught me to walk into hotels and just walk into rooms where there's a party or an event and start presenting and then ask who's in charge and you have him sign a contract. So I did this with trade shows. Cold call. I end up with Motorola, Mitsubishi, all these big companies. And I figure out that there's only four things I need to teach. And I think you're going to find this really valuable. It wasn't about their equipment. It was home time, family and money. This is the result of, uh, 17 years under fire on the trade show floors. Home, time, family, money. So once I understood that and I related that to their products or processes, whether it was electronics or whether it was lock and load for John Deere or whether it was, uh, gasoline distribution with Wayne Dresser, Dresser Wayne or Cargill, it didn't matter what the company was if I brought it down to their home or more time at home, more time with family, more money, the freedom to. So then I took those core principles and that became the nucleus of what I now teach. Because it didn't require skill, there was no talent required. I m could teach anyone this format. I didn't realize that until I was asked to do it. And then they were producing radical results. And it was very organic and very natural. And I know that, you know, when you work with children, um, and you have a focus on Toastmasters principles and getting them to communicate from the heart and have it authentic. And your background, um, having transitioned from, you know, UPS and Arby's and project management and then, and then finding MLM and realizing, you know, how to build a network and to nourish that, uh, I've represented 17 MLMs, built their scripting and their structure and trained their people. So. So this whole idea of framing communication, yeah, in a really elegant and very natural manner. A very natural manner, and giving them a structure they could rely on, but that they could leave and then revisit. So they had a, they had the security of all the psychology is built in. And all they had to do was tell their truth, remain authentic, and show the proof behind the. And then construct a proper CTA call to action. So all M came together. And when I look back, everything I did there was a reason. And I think most people, when they look back, they just think it's a mess. It's not a mess. It's part of their evolution. They've been preparing their whole life for what they're doing now. And what you're doing with the children that you serve and support and nourish and are motivating to feel not only confident, but competent. And how important is that? It's everything. It's everything.

Speaker B: So that's why this was such a great topic for us to talk about today. Your first module in this training that you have for pitch, present and persuade anyone on anything is one I love. And I think, uh, I always say that. And my background, too, is I'm married to, uh, someone who taught for over 40 years. My oldest daughter is a teacher who teaches teachers how to be more innovative. One thing I think schools do to us is they steal our dreams. M. They make it seem as it's not important to dream. And you, your very first module is the Dream Card. So, Cher, what is the Dream Card?

Speaker C: I, you know, I didn't. I had no idea what you're going to ask today. There's no prescription. You know, some people go with construct questions. If you said to me, you're going to die Tomorrow, Joel, at 4:00pm what is the one thing you would give to people? It would be this. Because, uh, Kevin Trudeau, who was incarcerated for 8 or 10 years on contempt of court, like, it was ridiculous. They just. He said something. He made a mistake. He said, what the pharmaceutical companies and government doesn't want you to know, and they put him in jail for that. He was teaching people how to lose weight, improve their life. All natural. But there's no profit in showing people how to do, you know, there's no profit. So they put him away. And when he. Before he went away, he had me, um, train his people in about 18 locations. And this was the thing he said, there are vision boards. I've been around all the laws of motivation, the principles. I. I've never seen anything like this. This was something I built for myself. And I'm actually holding this. I know that only you can see this and maybe a few others. Uh, this is an enlargement of something that is the size of a license. And this was my 18th dream card that's the size of a license that I'm holding in my hand. I have fulfilled every aspiration and everything that I could ever imagine because of this mechanism. So I'll explain it as fast as I can. There are Five categories on the card. Again, if you look at a license, you know, sideways, uh, in portraiture, your top would be relationship, environment, passion, purpose, wealth and health. And next to each one of those, you have a picture of the person that plays that role in your life. Now, if you don't have someone watching your back, if you don't have someone that represents financial wisdom and leverage and growing and building and making sure you can take care of those you love and yourself at the same time, if you don't, you need to find those five people. And that's the first thing people realize that building out this dream card is not some simple thing. Most have one person that's fulfilling all five areas and that's why their dreams are not being manifested. Because many cases is not. They may have a poverty mindset, they may be completely limited, self imposed limitations. And so the person that they rely on in all five roles couldn't possibly transport them where they need to go. It's not the right consciousness. So when they find these five people and then there's specific text that you lock into. For example, my relationship continued individual dates with my husband, children and closest friends. Now this is one of my students in the original. For me, it's obviously my wife. I raised my children individually and my wife and I went out on two nights of the week. Each child spent daddy time, mommy time, one on one. Because the group dynamic is so different. And I noticed that we had a very. Our kids never went through any of these problems with the mall hugs and the disrespect. Never, never. And I think it's because we gave them individual time. As you know, the group dynamic. Not the same. That's right, not the same. One on one is a big deal. Uh, environment. The environment you want to surround yourself in energetically. Not only energetically, but, you know, it determines a lot. I'm surrounded by my mother here on the right side. This is the only thing I wanted. They asked my grandmother before her death, said, is there anything you want when I, when I passed? And I said, yeah, I just want the bust of my mom. Everyone m else wanted money. I wanted the bust of my mom. So I grew up, as far as I can remember. This was at my grandmother's house on the counter. And this is, uh, supposedly my mom. That's what they told me. Uh, certainly is a beautiful version of her. Yeah, the dream card is. And here's how it works. You have these people right there. You have the same, you have these little sl. Again, without teaching. This is about an hour to teach it properly. Here's the whole secret. Is the move I'm making now in direct alignment with my dreams, aspirations and outcomes, or am I sabotaging myself with this very move? So anytime you're making a move in the area of health or wealth or environment, or your goals and aspirations, any time, and that would be everything. Because this covers all of it. And of course, of religion and higher purpose and higher power, that's very important to someone. It's important to me. I don't have to put that on the card because it's a part of everything I do. So I carry this in my hand. It's always there. I don't show it to anyone else. They don't know what it is. It's in my wallet. It's in my hand. It's on my phone as well. And every time I make a decision because I've created this Contract with thyself. This is a contract with thyself. And it's so deep and so profound that I ask myself, is the move I'm making now in direct alignment with my goals, aspirations and. And if it. 99% of the time, I'll make the right move. I'll eat the right food. I won't put in the processed sugar, I won't spike my insulin. I'll make the right move in the negotiation. I'll think about their needs and my needs and how do we coalesce both. I'll make the right move with my children. I'll make the right move financially.

Speaker B: Mhm.

Speaker C: It gets you to say, am I lying to myself? Am I going against this covenant I've made with myself? You would not believe the results that my. This is not. This is not expensive. This is a structure that we use. This is my 18th card. I'm now on my 19th. And uh, my wife says I've never seen anyone who knows what he wants. Stays on point, doesn't deviate. Um. Um. I can assure you our personal life is very free and unstructured. But I've achieved everything I ever wanted to achieve. I have no bucket list because of the dream card. And I did not expect you to ask because this is a solid album. Hour of training with visuals and things that I, you know, go, uh, through. So they can build it immediately and at no cost. And it literally changes the course of their life. They'll manifest an outcome that is so precise. May I relate to you just one thing? Um, sure. Walking down the path, Alice sees the Cheshire Cat.

Speaker B: Mhm.

Speaker C: And she's Approaching the fork in the road. And the Cheshire cat says, where do you want to go? She says, well, it really doesn't matter. And the Cheshire cat says, well, if it really doesn't matter, then any path will take you there needs to matter. Most people don't know what they want.

Speaker B: That's true.

Speaker C: They don't know where they want to go. I know this sounds really. It sounds bad, but I. I've dealt with this. We've trained over 2 million people online, offline, and 5,900 highest level. And when I asked them a question so fundamental as, how do you want to be perceived? How do you want to be received? How do you want to be believed in? They have no idea.

Speaker B: Yeah.

Speaker C: And so it's where it all starts. You know, what do you offer? Then? We can package position. It put them in a position where they're an absolute authority, which puts them in the minority. And you want to be in the minority. You want to be in the handful that are really making a difference. Uh, and then seeing that ripple and beyond our days, like, two of my children work with us in the company and they can take over tomorrow. Like, they're. They get it. Um, and with all their fancy degrees from traditional school, they go dead. We're not using any of the theory.

Speaker B: I know.

Speaker C: Using what we actually learn. I'm not making a negative comment. Doctor, lawyer, engineer. There are. There are careers that require it. But in today's world, I could name off major female and male CEOs that'll tell you I care about what you can do. I'm not going to look at your pedigree on the wall. I want to see what you can do. How can you can contribute? Can you problem solve? Are you creative or are you constricted and locked into theory? Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker B: That is so true. When I used to interview people, I would look at their resume, but I spent more time getting to know them with their character was because I can't change that. I could teach them m. Things, but I, I needed people that had the. The character, um, that would align with what we were trying to do, who we were in culture and such.

Speaker C: I mean, your, Your, Your outcome is so exquisitely. It's gorgeous. You want people to find the best representation of themselves and to be proud of themselves, to live in dignity and authenticity and integrity. And you don't have to compromise that. And I don't care what anyone. I know a lot about AI. I am very in tune with what's going on. Spend a tremendous amount of time studying the changes I have to. But I explain to my students they're never going to replace humanity. No, there are people that are still going to want to hear someone speak, teach, and create an opportunity for someone else to embrace their skill sets. And they're going to want you to lead them and hold their hand. Uh, they don't want 500 methods for lead generation in 12 seconds. They want one method that'll work. They don't need 500 methods to close. They need to close without feeling salesy or manipulative or without having to ask for the money to learn to do an application close. We're just like Harvard and Vassar and Princeton and all these schools where people break their back and spend a fortune to get their kids in and they're hoping they'll be accepted. That's the way in which I teach people to close. Such a demand. There is no selling. They're all applying, hoping that they'll be received and legitimately. If they're not the right fit, we teach them. If you don't know they're going to succeed, if you don't know it and know that they have what it takes, the discipline, the follow through, and you're not willing to hold them accountable, then no one should be allowing anyone to invest in their product, their processes or their support. Because they're only going to fail.

Speaker B: Right?

Speaker C: So we're very careful. It's why we've had such a high level of success. And that's really what differentiates us. And I wanted to say something to you that you said something before we even got into this when you were introducing me. And of course the way I was introduced made me sound like I'd like to meet me like, you know, because I think you and I both know with all of your skills, managerial directing skills, producing skills, all the details from your career, which has been rather incredible and all the changes you made, the pivot points that took you to this beautiful and exquisite place now where you really are dedicated your life to supporting others and supporting their dreams and allowing them to manifest them and to know that they can to eliminate the negativity and the self doubt and the voices in their head that sometimes aren't so instrumental. You, uh, said that some people call them the mentor's mentor. Well, that was Mark Victor Hansen. He came up with that. Uh, I believe, and this is the greatest takeaway that I could give your people, the greatest revelation I could give them. I believe that everyone is the greatest mentor in the world for the person who chooses them trusts Them knows that they can take them from where they are on this bridge. They're here, and they want to go here. And that's all we are, you and I are a bridge. As I see it, everyone we train is a bridge. And when they get real clear, that person who chooses you. So it's not Tony Robbins, it's not Joel Bauer, it's not Jenny Armada, it's not Vicki. It's. Every one of us is capable of being the greatest mentor in the world and not to compare ourselves to anyone else for the person that chooses us, who we give direction to and they implement, we hold their hand and they succeed. That's the greatest mentor in the world. So I don't. I don't see failure in virtually anyone. If you give them the tools and you hold their hand and you nurture them and you motivate and inspire them and you bring them to the ledge, but you never push them, when they're ready to soar, they'll take flight. So I don't. I don't believe in this boot camp. Beat them up, tear them down, rebuild them. Unnecessary. I don't believe in them finding their voice. They already have their voice. They've been talking their whole life. They're just not able to monetize because they don't see their perceived value when you suddenly identify. They've spent their whole life preparing to do this thing that's already very natural to them. They just didn't know it. They can't see it. And so when they see it and they sense it and it's, you know, uh, they experience it and you show them how to package and position it. It's the most natural thing they've ever done. It's effortless. And. And when suddenly they're. People are investing in them at a level they never thought possible. Um, not only is money not a concern then, but the concern then is how do I serve more people properly? I don't believe in big groups. Okay. I used to travel and do 25,000 stadiums. I was the get motivated. And it was the most horrible, insensitive, detached, despairing experience as a speaker, as a communicator, as a trainer. Uh, and I did it. I made a lot of money doing it, but it wasn't fulfilling. Very small groups now generally never over 50. I teach the art of high ticket, high perceived value, how to package and position. I also let people know when they shouldn't be doing that because they've got to offer something of massive value. There's. And they've got to offer guarantees and the guarantees have to be real. So I make sure that we only train people who really know their process works. And I want everyone to hear that you shouldn't be, you shouldn't be teaching something you don't know, that you're just trying to figure out and piece together. You come from your mastery, which is what you spent your whole life doing. Could be, could be a belief system, could be a workflow, but you come from that and you find the joy in packaging and positioning that. And now you always have mastery. And there's no way to screw it up as a coach because if people know what it is you offer and they ask questions within those boundaries.

Speaker B: Right.

Speaker C: Always have the answer.

Speaker B: Mm.

Speaker C: When you open yourself up to anything, that's ridiculous. No one, no one has that ability to do that well without exaggerating or BSing. So we teach them about these boundaries and they go, oh, oh, now I feel like I could do that because they can. And anytime someone asks a question outside of your boundaries, that's an opinion. And I tell people, you don't want my opinion. You want to come from my experience. Because then you'll have the same result. I don't teach what other people do. I teach what I've done. That's why you're coming to me. And obviously I'm successful doing it currently. It's not just what I've done in the past. I do this now. So there's no theory here. You do this, you'll produce this result and they do. And it gives them permission to move forward on all of them.

Speaker B: Such great, great advice. And it is true. You know, when I teach people, um, how to be more confident speakers, it's like talk about what you know, your stories of what you lived, that those experiences, those are where people start to connect, that it's like, oh my God, I'm not the only one that did that, that felt that. And that's where you become memorable.

Speaker C: You mentioned something, um, about the website and I have to apologize to you because what you just said just, it went right to this. At the top of the website, there's a gentleman by the name of Peng Joon and he was going to give up on his dream. His father wanted him to be a farmer and he was a brilliant biochemist. Uh, and Peng Joon didn't want to do that. Even though he was raised farming environment. He flew into LA from Malaysia. His father put him through this non traditional education that he wanted. He studied with T Harv Ecker he studied with Tony Robbins, he studied with Blair Singer, all these fantastic presenters. But he wasn't able to monetize, not even a dollar. He could never close online or offline. So he heard about me through word of mouth, flew in, and he walks up to me on the first day and he says to me, this is too simple. I'm worried this isn't going to work. And I go, well, let me wire you back your money. We'll send you home. I'll even pay your expenses. No problem. Just let us know what it is and we'll take care of it. He says, no, I don't want my money back. I'm just telling you, I have a concern here. This is too simple. I'm looking for metaphors and allegory and complex language. I said, that's not what I teach. I teach you something that people relate to your family, your experiences, how to plug them in. I teach you this money matrix that saved my life and has empowered thousands that I've trained. And if you're not willing to embrace it, if you got one foot out, then just go home and I'll send you back your money. Says, no, no, this is my last resort. Uh, I'll. I'll suspend my disbelief. He left there. Eleven days later, he appeared on a stage in Malaysia for Success Resources, a big company that was putting on an event. His girlfriend, Shu Ying, had her eyes covered because she'd only seen him fail.

Speaker B: Oh. Uh, wow.

Speaker C: And he did his offer. And literally, the producers walked over to her and they removed her hands and they said, we're out of order forms. And the people were rushing every table. There were six tables set up. And he had his first rush. $4,000 per sale on a system that he had built based upon my principles. He had. He had done this thing, this simple thing that just blew him away. He ended on time. I told him, you gotta end on time. Yeah, two minutes and 36 seconds. First table rush. So the thing you were talking about on my website was not my revelations, it's what he learned from me. He did $10 million in his first year. Last year, over 25. Wow. Very well known now. Not, uh, invisible, very visible. His father, unfortunately, died in his arms. Uh, he took care of his father. He retired his parents within six months. And he's just one of several thousand who find that it's not complicated. It's not. It's. It's the exact antithesis of complex and challenging. It's taking your life experience and knowing the order in which to present it. And the three things that you teach that demonstrate the three. And the power of three is so frighteningly powerful. Uh, he's at the top of my website revealing the 10 moves which they could learn right there for free. It's not me, I'm just being, I'm just sitting next to you. And he said, I want to come up to your room and I want to, I want to talk about. Because my life will never be the same. This is total independence. So uh, I just want you to know that, you know, that's free, it's there and, and they can, they can download it if they want. Uh, and I wasn't even going to ask you, but you were so kind. You said you don't mind if we give a page at the end. That's fantastic. I didn't. I want to create value for your people on some level. And I must tell you that there are, you know, there's five things people need to do. Attract the perfect audience. Convert them from prospect. Convert, uh, leverage, uh, them by giving them something of value that doesn't cost anything but has incredibly high perceived value. Now they're a customer, they invest in you attract, convert, leverage, retain them short term and long term. And then automate your process and rinse and repeat. Those are the five elements that we've incorporated so that this is the problem out there. Some people are promising lead generation or a landing page or a website or AI will build it all in 23 seconds. That's great. What happens when the people actually arrive? If you can't speak, teach and close with predictive precision, you're dead in the water. They're going to leave. They're going to leave your webinar, your workshop. They're not going to sustain. So uh, that's all we do. We make sure that all the pieces of something that's puzzling people, they're not monetizing and they're just downloading the next this or that and then they go on these webinars which are just sales pitches versus someone actually transferring their life's work to them. I don't believe in the tease and agitate. I believe you give massive value where they don't even need you, where they could actually not only get started but succeed from that micro training or that two hour workshop.

Speaker B: Right, right.

Speaker C: I don't believe in this tease and not really tell them how to do it. Just no, no, terrible. I want them to have a valuable, A massively. That's why we don't get bad mouthed A lot because you're gonna, you're always gonna have someone out there saying something negative. But we don't get a lot of that because we project them into the solution. Let's do it. Let's just do it now. We have no time for fear. We have no time for self doubt.

Speaker B: That's right.

Speaker C: They don't even know they're doing. And then they go, oh my God, I just wrote a book in three hours and all I did was answer nine questions. And it's uh, it's transcribed just like that. Bam. They got their book. Something. Yeah.

Speaker B: So time has flown by. Uh, you know, I guess we're gonna have to have another conversation because there's so many more questions that I have for you. But time has fl and I am going to now share your contact information. I'm as always going to have everything out on my YouTube channel. So you can go to Vicki Nethling and subscribe to get all of it in the show notes or my find your leadershipconfidence.com website. So the website is for those just listening. Joel Bauer B a u e r.com joelbower.com Facebook is his name as well. Joe Bauer Official LinkedIn is his name. Joel Bower Instagram Joel Bower Mentor and YouTube is Joel Bower slash videos. So you can thank him for making it easy and simple as he talked about all through this conversation. Uh, Joel, do you have some information for your call to action today? Uh, what can they find on that website?

Speaker C: Yeah, they, they don't have to buy a thing. They go to joelbauer.com super simple. Go down to the very bottom and you'll see a book I wrote called Three Moves to Monetize. And the beauty of the book is some people don't like to read anymore. It's only 12 pages. It's a six minute read. It's full of pictures like a child and there's videos on every single page with a QR code. They can read it with their phone and there's little micro trainings and then it all comes together and they'll be able to do the three things they learn immediately without cost. And I want them to have a transformation from that, uh, at the very bottom if they decide to train with me at a masterclass. We uh, have a masterclass we've been running for about 14 months now and uh, for less than the cost of breakfast for one, the money back guarantee. Uh, we've never had anyone cancel. They say wait a minute, this is like a $25,000 training. And it is, but it's less than the cost of breakfast for one. And we don't even care about the money. The reason we charge something is if people don't have skin in the game, they don't show up and they don't take it seriously.

Speaker B: So true.

Speaker C: We've got free training and if they want mastery level, we have that as well.

Speaker B: Awesome.

Speaker C: Uh, thank you so much.
