The Corporate Director Podcast ranks #2482 on The B2B Podcast Index with a substance score of 66.0 out of 100, scored across 1 recent episode. It scores highest on specificity & evidence and guest caliber. The episode earns reasonable credit for named data points drawn from the actual report - specific percentages, comparisons between cohorts, named CEO-departure examples, and an external citation (Ocean Tomo). The numbers are concrete and verifiable, though they all come from Diligent's and Ethisphere's own proprietary data, which limits independent corroboration.
Averaged across 1 recently scored episode, with cited evidence.
The interview portion contains a handful of genuine data points and useful frames (e.g., 86% vs 52% on interactive E&C sessions, 11%/14% CECO-background directors, 80-90% intangible assets, 2.5 average board seats), but much of the 41 minutes is eaten by pre-interview chatter, celebrity name-dropping, and closing platitudes. The useful signal is real but buried.
“86% of our focus Group of Boards of Ethical Boards. They provide interactive sessions on ethics and compliance, such as case studies or tabletop exercises, versus just 52% across all the honorees”
“between 80 and 90% of the average company's value is intangible assets. And that's a complete flip from where we were in the 70s”
Most advice recycles standard governance orthodoxy (independence, diversity, skills matrices). The reframe of intangible assets as the reason diversity and independence matter is a decent intellectual move, and the point about rotating committee chairs rather than just board members is a modest fresh angle, but nothing is genuinely contrarian or first-principles.
“what about tenure on a particular committee? How quickly do I get stale on my 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th year serving on the audit committee?”
“not could it happen here, because that's far too easy to answer. No. What would it look like here? How would it happen here?”
Erica Salmon Byrne holds a substantive senior role at a credible, relevant institution with 20 years of proprietary data, and Neta Madhav is a genuine founder-practitioner. However, the conversation is structurally a promotional interview for a joint Diligent-Ethisphere report, limiting candour; Madhav is also a Diligent employee, which is an obvious conflict.
“I have spent the last two decades of my career really heavily focused on proactive compliance sharing”
“I am a founder of a company that pioneered technology in the ethics and compliance space called Vault Platform”
“100% of the world's most ethical boards receive written material such as reports and articles and regulatory guidance from independent sources”
“only 11% of directors have served as a chief ethics or compliance officer in the past. Um, and it is slightly improved for our focus group of world ethical boards with 14%”
Questions are competent and structured around the report's findings, but there is no pushback, no challenging of commercially convenient claims, and the closing questions ('biggest difference in 10 years,' 'last thing you read') are generic podcast templates. The conversation never escapes a promotional register.
“Before we dive into the report on the World's most Ethical boardrooms, Erica, for those who may not be familiar, Ethisphere is really known for your World's Most Ethical Companies list”
“what are one or two concrete steps that you each believe they should take”
