Episode notes

Tesla didn't just help create the modern EV market - it completely disrupted the automotive industry. But somewhere along the way, the company that forced everyone else to innovate seems to have stopped doing much of it itself. In this episode of The Clean Energy Edge Podcast, Russ looks at what's happened to Tesla's vehicle lineup and why competitors, particularly companies in China, are moving so quickly. Tesla still has major strengths, including its Supercharger network, software ecosystem and enormous manufacturing experience. But when it comes to new models, vehicle design, charging speeds, battery technology, features and affordability, the competition isn't standing still. We look at: How Tesla went from disruptor to incumbent Why its vehicle lineup increasingly feels dated What BYD and other Chinese automakers are doing differently Tesla's continuing advantage with the Supercharger network Whether Cybertruck was the innovation Tesla actually needed What Tesla needs to do to regain its edge This isn't about being anti-Tesla. It's about asking a much more important question: What happened to the company that was always pushing everyone else forward?
