After three years of operation, the Boss Builder Podcast is being discontinued in favor of HR Oxygen, a sister podcast launched about a year after the original show. The host explains that while Boss Builder targeted supervisors and aspiring managers with guests ranging from martial arts fighters to consultants and trainers, audience metrics and business growth prompted the strategic pivot. HR Oxygen, focused on HR professionals who often send employees to management training, has attracted significantly higher listenership. Rather than abandoning the show, the host wanted to provide proper closure and direct listeners to HR Oxygen, which covers similar management and organizational topics but with increased emphasis on inspirational and educational content. The shift reflects a business reality: most managers don't self-select for training - they're sent by their organizations, making the HR professional audience more valuable. Managers are still encouraged to listen to HR Oxygen since understanding HR perspectives proves essential to effective leadership.

Key takeaways

  • →Boss Builder Podcast launched in 2018 to support newly promoted supervisors but is being ended due to higher listenership growth in the sister podcast HR Oxygen.
  • →Most managers don't send themselves to training; they're sent by their organizations, making HR professionals the more commercially valuable audience segment.
  • →HR Oxygen covers similar management and leadership topics as Boss Builder but serves HR professionals as the primary audience, with managers benefiting from understanding HR perspectives.
  • →The host provided this final episode to properly close the show rather than silently abandoning it on podcast platforms.
  • →Both podcasts featured similar guest diversity including martial arts fighters, consultants, trainers, and coaches discussing management and organizational topics.

What our scoring noted

Our reviewer’s read on each dimension, with quotes from the episode.

Insight Density

1 / 20

This episode contains zero educational content for B2B operators - it is purely a three-minute administrative announcement about shutting down the podcast. There are no insights, frameworks, or actionable ideas of any kind.

we made the really tough decision that we were going to go ahead and just end Boss Builder Podcast and move everything over to HR Oxygen

Originality

1 / 20

There is no thinking of any kind present - original, recycled, or otherwise. The entire episode is a redirect notice with no intellectual content whatsoever.

So all that to say, we appreciate all of you who've listened to us over the years, and we would invite you to join us.

Guest Caliber

0 / 20

There are no guests in this episode at all; it is a solo monologue. Past guests are name-dropped (Greg Nelson, Keppel Broth, MMA fighters) but none appear and no credentials or relevant operator experience is demonstrated.

We had mixed martial arts fighters. I've had consultants, trainers, teachers, coaches, all sorts of individuals.

Specificity & Evidence

1 / 20

The only concrete details are the podcast launch year (2018) and the hosting platform (Podbean) - neither of which constitutes evidence or data relevant to any B2B operator. All other claims are vague and unsupported.

Boss Builder Podcast will stay viable until my contract with Podbean runs out.

Conversational Craft

1 / 20

This is an uninterrupted solo monologue with no questions, no guests, no follow-ups, and no intellectual exchange of any kind. It functions purely as a housekeeping notice.

I wanted to have a final closing episode so that while this podcast was still available on podcast apps, that people would just figure, okay, he ended it rather than just abandon it.

Welcome to the Boss Builder Podcast. Well, hello friends and welcome to the actual final episode of Boss Builder Podcast. So we started the podcast in 2018. The purpose was to reach out and assist the newly promoted supervisor, those who were in the role and struggling, and those who were even thinking about one day becoming a manager.

We had a ton of great guests on it, including two of the guests I really wanted to have, Greg Nelson and Keppel Broth. We had mixed martial arts fighters. I've had consultants, trainers, teachers, coaches, all sorts of individuals. Well, I guess it was about a year or so into Boss Builder Podcast, we started looking at the audience that takes our programs.

Of course, this is management training, and we realized, too, that for most people, they don't send themselves to management training. They actually get sent. And so with the idea of making money, which, of course, that's how we stay alive here, we decided we would start a second podcast, which is HR Oxygen. That was aimed toward the overworked, overstressed, and underappreciated HR professional.

Well we were running too and sometimes episodes would go into both of those podcasts Well as time went on we started to see the listenership move higher for HR Oxygen than we had for Boss Builder Podcast At the same time business started picking up post and we made the really tough decision that we were going to go ahead and just end Boss Builder Podcast and move everything over to HR Oxygen And so that's why I'm making this episode. I wanted to have a final closing episode so that while this podcast was still available on podcast apps, that people would just figure, okay, he ended it rather than just abandon it.

That's what we didn't want to have happen. So all that to say, we appreciate all of you who've listened to us over the years, and we would invite you to join us. Now, again, the new station is not new. It's been around almost as long as Boss Builder Podcast.

Yes, the focus is on HR professionals. But as managers, you'll need to know things from their perspective, too. And you'll find the topics are going to be somewhat similar. We've got the same kind of array of guests, but we try to be a little bit more inspirational as well as educational.

So best way to reach us, of course, is to subscribe to HR Oxygen on any podcast app. And of course, you can always go to hroxygen.com. Boss Builder Podcast will stay viable until my contract with Podbean runs out.

And then, of course, they'll probably dismantle it. I'll set the domain to forward to HR Oxygen and we hope to see you on our sister and now soul podcast HR Oxygen. Thank you so much for the support and we look forward to seeing you on our other channel very soon.
