The Holy Spirit has been such a game changer in my walk as a Christian in business because he's not just helping me through the spiritual stuff, he has helped me through my business, through every facet of my life. And a couple of years ago, I had the opportunity of being a guest podcast host on the Gen Truth podcast where I talked about how I asked the Holy Spirit for help and what happened in different areas of my life when I did that. Today I'm going to share that episode with you and it's nothing like my other episodes, but you're going to be blessed as you see how you, you too can start a relationship with the Holy Spirit as a Christian in business and enjoy the benefits of partnering with the Holy Spirit to live your best life in every area of your life. I'm so excited for this episode. Like I said, it's different from what I usually do every week, but I felt like someone needed to hear this so that as you build your business, you you know that you are not building it alone. You have a guide, you have a partner. You have the Holy Spirit who can hold your hand and literally guide you through building your business, building your life, and becoming all God has created it to be. I am a business strategist, an execution coach and a Jesus follower. I knew I was called to start a business, but I struggled with lack of clarity, self doubt and the fear of losing a predictable income. My lack of courage kept me stuck until I traded it for obedience to God's calling. I left my job, built a seven figure service based business and ran it for 13 years. Now I help other Christians working on nine to five do the same. You don't have to stay stuck in unfulfillment, fear, doubt or lack of clarity. It's time to partner with God and step boldly into your calling to start that business. You know the one I'm talking about? Yes. That one you've been putting off for a long time.
Speaker A: Let's start by reading Romans 8, 26, 27 in the NLT translation. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for, but the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father, who knows all hearts, knows what the Spirit is saying. For the Spirit pleads for us, believers in harmony with God's own will. I, uh, discovered the Holy Spirit as a child, watching my mom. And I would notice she will come into the living room and she will be so excited. She'll be dancing and just giving us different dance moves. Then we, the kids, will come to her, hold her leg, hold her, and we'll be like, mommy, why are you so excited? What is going on? What happened? That was always our favorite question. What happened? Then she will say to us that the Holy Spirit gave her an idea for a problem she had, and she implemented the idea. And it worked. And she was just excited. Sometimes she would tell us, the Holy Spirit just gave her an idea. Maybe she had not implemented it yet, but she was just excited that she finally had a solution to a problem that she had. So when I saw her dancing and excited, I didn't really get it at that point, but I knew that there was something called the Holy Spirit. And as I continued on my journey, I got to a stage where I was finally able to understand and actually enroll in a Holy Spirit baptism class at my church as a teenager. So I enrolled in that class. In that class, they taught me how I received the Holy Spirit when I accepted Christ into my heart. So salvation. They told me when you said the sinner's prayer, you were born of the Spirit. That means you became a valid member of the house or the family of God. Let me say that. So they told me, hey, when you said the sinner's prayer, the Holy Spirit replaced whatever Spirit that was there before. So you now have that new spirit which says that you are a valid member of the family of God. Now. They told me that the baptism of the Holy Spirit was like the second installment or the second benefit I get as a member of the family of God. So just think about it like you joined the military and you receive a letter saying, congratulations, you are now a member of the military of your country. So that letter verifies or validates that you are now a member of the military of your country, then the second installment is where they bring you in to come and pick up your military equipment, your uniform, your guns, your gear, everything. So that is what the baptism part is all about. And that was how they explained it in the class. And if you remember in Acts 1:8, when Jesus told his disciples when he was going back to heaven, he told them, go wait here until the Holy Spirit comes and gives you power. So that is the empowerment that the Holy Spirit does. That is the second installment. So in the opening scripture we read, we saw that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness, and he gives us an example. And most times I find that we limit ourselves to that example only. And we don't realize that the Holy Spirit can help with so many other things apart from just our spiritual growth. So in that scripture, it says, the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. So not knowing what God wants us to pray for is a weakness that the Holy Spirit helps us with. So that's in the area of our spiritual growth. So if we're struggling with prayer or with, um, studying our Bible or anything that has to do with our spiritual growth, the Holy Spirit can help us in those areas of weaknesses. Another area of weakness that the Holy Spirit can help us in, still under the umbrella of spiritual growth, is embracing our Christ identity. How do I walk in boldness and confidence knowing that I am a child of God? God loves me. God is not mad at me. The Holy Spirit can help us with that in Romans 8:16 in the passion translation. I love the Passion translation. It says, for the Holy Spirit makes God's fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our, uh, innermost being. You are God's beloved child. So the Holy Spirit can help if you're having an identity crisis. If you do not know who you are, you. He tells you you are a child of God. So not knowing who you are is a weakness that the Holy Spirit can help you with. So that is one area which is in the area of spiritual growth. But I want to look at other areas that the Holy Spirit can help us in. So the Holy Spirit can help us in the area of solving life problems. And these problems can be in different areas of our lives. I will use myself as an example. So the Holy Spirit can help you in the area of mental health. I used to struggle with depression a lot when I was a lot younger and even leading up to when I got married and all of that. But I found that the Holy Spirit helped me with that. How does he help you? You just ask him to help. So I tell I will pray. And I'll say, holy Spirit, help me with my depression. Holy Spirit, I'm, um, feeling anxious. Help me, Holy Spirit, help me with fear. And I find that the more I kept praying. One day I was praying and the Holy Spirit told me. He said, I need you to commit to seeing a therapist for a year. And that was how I got into therapy. It was by asking the Holy Spirit to help me. And when he told me that, I went on Google. And before I typed my search, I said, holy Spirit, help me find the right therapist that's going to help me. So I prayed that prayer. And I typed Christian therapist in Houston, Texas. I'm based in Houston, uh, Texas, in the United States. And a whole bunch of people came. And it's like I could hear the Holy Spirit in my ear saying, no, not this one, not this one, not this one. Until I found the one. And the Holy Spirit was like, yes, this one. So not only did he tell me to commit to therapy, he led me to find the therapist. So I walk into the therapist's session for my first session, and I tell her all the things I was dealing with. And she tells me, you have boundary issues. You need to deal with your boundaries. She recommended a, uh, book called boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud and, uh, Dr. Townset. And that was how I got to the root cause of what causing me depression. I couldn't say no to people. I was a people pleaser. I was saying yes to everyone. And I was getting overwhelmed and depressed because I was not able to take care of myself. So you see how I asked the Holy Spirit to help me in the area of mental health. And he told me to commit myself to therapy. He helped me find a therapist, and the therapist was able to recommend a book that helped me solve that problem. So you see how that works in the era of marriage is the same or relationship. Maybe you're single. The Holy Spirit can help you in your relationship. Maybe it's at, uh, work. Maybe it's with your siblings, your parents. Maybe you are a young couple and you're having communication issues. I've had situations where I am married with three kids. I've had situations where I have, like, argument with my husband. And you know how you have those arguments and you go your separate ways. Then I start talking to the Holy Spirit. I say, holy Spirit, help me. We are pulling apart. And the Holy Spirit tells me, go back and tell him this. And I go back and I tell him those words. And it's like the anger, everything just melts away and we're able to come back and have a meaningful conversation. So it might be in your marriage, it might be with your siblings, it might be with your parents. Because the main thing that causes issue in relationship is lack of understanding. And, and who better can give you understanding of the people you're dealing with than the Holy Spirit? When you're reading the word of God, the Holy Spirit can highlight areas that help you understand relationships better. Another area that the Holy Spirit can help you in is in your career or business. Yes. Maybe you're working this job and you're not as productive, you're not hitting your goals. The Holy Spirit can help you with that. He can show you strategies or give you strategies to help you start and finish your goals, to help you be more productive at work, to help you focus. I have tons of examples that I can give. One of the strategies the Holy Spirit gave me that helps me in my business, I'm a business person. He can also help you in your career. He taught me how to use the power of 15, 15 minutes to get more focus work done. So I put a timer. He tells him, put a timer for 15 minutes and put the timer, uh, where your eye can see it and get to work. Guess what, people? Because I can see the timer, there's something it does to my brain. I'm able to focus and I'm able to get work done. That was a strategy the Holy Spirit gave me. That strategy has helped me to be consistent in doing little things. It can help you out your work. It can help you to complete projects at your job. Another area the Holy Spirit can help you is in the area of building healthy habits. Now this one is a real game changer. So I struggle drinking water. I love to drink coffee and tea. Where are my coffee and tea lovers? I love to drink coffee and tea. I struggle to drink water. So this year I set a goal to drink 64 ounce of water every day. And I was telling the Holy Spirit to help me. I said, holy Spirit, I've tried to do this before and I failed. And I keep drinking coffee and tea. So one day I was working, uh, in my, uh, home office. And it was like a light bulb. My eyes was open to see my water bottle, which was right in front of me. And my eyes went to the time blocks that were on the water bottle. So the water bottle I have, it has Time blocks where it has 8am, 9am, M, 10am like when you're supposed to drink water. So once I looked at it, the Holy Spirit said, you have a Mac computer, right? And your Mac computer is able to announce the time to you every hour. So the Holy Spirit said, when your laptop announces the time, use that opportunity to drink your water. So my computer, I use a Mac computer. When it's 8 o', clock, it will say the time is 8 o'. Clock. So I know it's 8 o'. Clock. So I grab my water, I drink my water up to the 8 o' clock mark. Then when the computer says it's 9 o', clock, I grab my water and I drink it to 9 o'. Clock. So that is how I've been able to start building that healthy habit again, by following the strategy the Holy Spirit gave me. And he started by me asking, saying, holy Spirit, help me to build a healthy habit of drinking water. All right, so what is your action step? What are you going to do with everything you've heard? So here's what I encourage you to do. To grow in your relationship with the Holy Spirit. The first thing you need to do is to acknowledge his presence in prayer. So wherever you are right now, you can say, Holy Spirit, I, I acknowledge that you are in me and you're with me and you are able to help me. So acknowledge him, Acknowledge his presence. Once you're done doing that, submit to his leadership. Because you can't follow someone that you are not submitted to. And you can do this in prayer too. So you can say something like this, Holy Spirit, I acknowledge your presence. I know that you're in me, and I submit to your leadership. I submit to your leading. I submit to your guidance. Holy Spirit, control me. So submit to his leadership. When you're done doing that, ask him to help you. So start making it the practice of asking him to help you whenever you face a problem. Say, holy Spirit, help me. I have lost my keys before and I say, holy Spirit, help me find my keys. And once I pray that in a couple of minutes my mind I get reminded of where I dropped it last. So sometimes he answers quickly, sometimes it takes a while. So the next point is, be patient. When you ask him to help you, be patient to hear him listen. Sometimes I might ask him for help during my devotion time in the morning. And I might not get an answer until I'm driving on the highway and I see a billboard. And a word on, um, the billboard just sticks out to me. And immediately I Know that that is the answer to the help I asked him for. So when you ask him for help, be patient and be patient for him to answer you. Then once he answers you, follow through in the instruction he gives you and thank him for his help. Thank him for his help. When you gain, when you get success from what he tells you to do, thank him. And that is how you grow in your relationship, in your fellowship with the Holy Spirit, to where he becomes this buddy that everyone else is jealous of you of. And you become like my mom who gets excited and is dancing. So now I have become my mom. So, so I get excited, I dance, and my children rush to me and they're like, mommy, what's happening? And I tell them, you will not believe the idea the Holy Spirit just gave me or the solution he gave me. And now I'm teaching my children, I'm passing that experience down to my children. So they get curious like I got curious and started my journey with the Holy Spirit. So let's recap. The Holy Spirit helps you in your weakness. He helps you in your spiritual growth. He helps you solve life problems. In your mental health, in your relationships, in your career or business, in building healthy habits. And in any area of your life, every weakness transforms into strength through the power of the Holy Spirit. With his guidance, you can figure anything out. So don't be afraid. With the Holy Spirit's guidance, everything is figureoutable. If you haven't started growing your relationship with the Holy Spirit, I invite you to pray with me.
