Speaker A: Fable five got banned. Nick, we have so much we have to talk about today. We've not been on this podcast for three weeks and we've got about 11 weeks worth of controversy, news and updates before we get started. Nick, shall we jump straight into the deep end about Fable 5? And some conspiratorially minded viewers will think this podcast hasn't been airing because of Fable 5, but we'll touch on that very shortly. Nick, what was your take on the ban? Have you been sleeping at night, man? Have you been able to maintain relationships and a healthy diet since it got banned or what?

Speaker B: Well, the whole reason why I haven't been around is they. They took me down, Jack. I was way too productive with Fable 5. I got way too much done. I was amassing a significant portion of world GDP before Dario Emote gave me a call and said, nah, man, not today.

Speaker A: We're going to kill shot this guy. Get him out of here.

Speaker B: Yeah, the. The Fable five ban was rough. You know, I was scrolling through Twitter the other day and I just kept on seeing the same idea come back and back. And it was, what is even the point of doing anything anymore? Because if we use Opus 4, 8 GPT 5. 5, you know, we'll be productive at like a, ah, 1.5x rate. But Fable was like a 10x rate. Like you could do 10x the, the economically valid work. Why, why even operate at like a 1.5? Isn't it make more sense just to like leave our to do list undone, wait till Fable 5 comes back, and then just do it all in like 30 seconds? And I think it like cuts to the core of like a bigger issue with AI, which is like, when technology moves so quickly, like, is. Is there even any point, like, was there ever a point to sending out the Voyager spacecraft In like the 60s and 70s, Jack, if within like 30 years we'll have spacecraft technology that could like quadruple the distance that it goes? Do you know what I mean?

Speaker A: You raised some interesting questions, dude. I mean, why even. Yeah, dude, it's funny. I'm even getting Fable HQ calling me right now, actually, as we're talking about.

Speaker B: Same here. Jesus.

Speaker A: It's like, it's funny. Literally. Cut the pod. Cut the pod. It's like. Okay, here was the interesting thing about it is that we had fable for 72 very sweet, very short lived hours. And, um, there was a meme going around that was like, it's funny that 72 hours worth of access to a new model has caused a paradigm shift in all of our standards. Like, we didn't just live on 4.8 for weeks. And it's almost like everyone's like, I can't go back. I can't do any more work anymore. And everyone's like, bro, we had it for 72 hours. But what an incredible 72 hours. It was almost. I mean, I did some, um, tests, just raw, raw dog tests, like, to see how it competed against the next strongest model. And there's no question that it was better. Uh, it just knew, like, even from a design point of view, just, it's like, understanding of, like, you know, less is always more design. And it just knew little intricacies, you know, y spacing and rounded corners and things like that. It just had a good grasp on things. And, um, it was amazing. But what really sort of annoyed me, well, annoyed a lot of people. And I think a lot of people didn't really appreciate that you do not own, um, the best models in the planet, and they can at any point be taken away from you. And it's a very dangerous precedent that the U.S. government or any authority entity can with withhold, like, the best, most powerful models on the planet from citizens. Because init, the deal was, hey, we're fine with you using it, but it needs to be capped only to the usa, so no foreign citizens can actually physically use it. Meaning that anthropic themselves would have a weird scenario in which lead engineers couldn't be building the very product they're trying to hide. So my first reaction, Nick, was like this. I couldn't believe it. I literally, bro. I actually had a video that came out, and within six hours, it was like, oh, uh, we can't access it anymore. I was like, dude, how freaking quick does this game move, dude? I'm getting videos out. And then hours later, it's not even usable right now. I was like, this is crazy.

Speaker B: Yeah. At least you got the video out, man. I was sleeping when that shit happened. It was unbelievable. I just wake up to, like, the fable cost. It was brutal. On your point, I want you to know, the very first thing that I did, like, the very first thing that I did when I read that, you know, hey, we're banning or we're taking back this model because, um, the government wanted to make it not available to foreign nationals. Very first thing I did was I reached out to something like 15 immigration firms, and I said, hey, how do I become not a foreign national? Because warfare nowadays, I'm Canadian for anybody that's watching. I think Jack's, uh, UK Dubai. And um, for anybody that doesn't know m warfare is waged at the economic and resource level nowadays. Sure, there's still some incidences of true warfare, but this is what warfare looks like. Warfare looks like, you know, a country having 86% of all of the compute on planet Earth coming up with this incredible new technology that like, is the foundation of the economy and then selectively giving or removing access where it makes sense. And I'm not saying that the United States is evil. This is just the game theoretic strategy. When you, when you have this massive advantage and everybody wants what you have, obviously becomes a bargaining chip, right? But I, um, I read this really interesting thing called Europe 2031 and I don't know if you've had a chance to take a look at it, Jack, but it outlines a very plausible kind of sequence of events over the course of the next five years at, ah, how Europe and its relative disadvantage in AI will go just over the course of the next five years with export controls and US hegemony and owning. Basically it's like Europe is cooked unless it really fundamentally changes what it's doing right now. And in Europe 2031 it, it didn't talk about this sort of stuff happening where the US would like enforce some sort of like control until like 2029 or something. And the fact that it was happening in 2026, like, like when I, when I read the news, when I read the actual post, like I got goosebumps. I was like, wow, holy crap, we're already there. You know, the Department of War is already rescinding access. Could you imagine what a massive hit that would be not just to your and my businesses, but also just any other non US company, like how much money would, would flow into the United States with people like me being like, if there's one thing I need in life, I don't care about where I live, I don't care about what I do. I just need access to this technology.

Speaker A: I don't need my access to the, to the mothership. I need access to the mothership. Dude, that is fascinating. I mean, Europe's fantastic at getting bottle caps to stay on top. We're wonderful with that. We're unparalleled with that, uh, level of efficiency. But then what was really funny with the whole thing is that it was actually restricted under the gu, a national security threat. So in this particular instance, where I think it's an important distinction, is that it wasn't kind um, of throttled to weaponize. It wasn't like the American government were trying to say we want to use it, but you can't. But I think the motives matter less than the actual effect of the thing. And the effect of the thing is that they've restricted access and they can at any point do that. That said though, anthropic, I m mean, anthropic's not going to move their jurisdiction.

Speaker B: Right.

Speaker A: But I do think it does. We need a balance of power in a sense, if we need other. This is why I think the whole China AI thing is massive. And I love the fact that they're building comparable models. And it's never been more important than ever. Like Europe's not even a player in the game right now. Like not even on the, not even on the board. I couldn't even tell you an example of a model that comes from a European company. I can't see a single one. Say that again.

Speaker B: I don't know if you saw. It was like a big psyop on Twitter. It was just like the funniest meme ever. It was like mistral is producing Le Chatton fat, the largest model at 30 trillion parameters. It's just a joke all about how, uh, they don't have anywhere near the compute needed to train literally anything useful. Dude. Like I feel like a tiny workshop in Bangladesh is producing more AI GDP than the entirety of the European subcontinent right now.

Speaker A: There's probably some high school somewhere in the UK that unknowingly has the strongest AI model. Like a 6 million parameter model. Like that's where we're at right now. Like we are falling. We are so far behind. We're not even at the race. Dude, what the hell's going on right now? But it was, it was nuts, but it was the. The power of Fable was fantastic. And everybody was gutted when it went away. Like it wasn't just one of Those, you know, four 8.2s come out and it was like genuinely, yeah, this is just way better. Like to the point where even the medium setting was outperforming the strongest setting in the prior model.

Speaker B: Yeah, that's true.

Speaker A: Like, that's how good it got. That's how good it was.

Speaker B: It. It also fundamentally changed how I was using AI, uh, at the time. Like the way that I was previously using AI was I was going really deep into like scope and spec and really giving it like a strong step by step outline of what I wanted it to do. And usually the AI would just be the hands and it would execute really well. But then when Fable arrived It, it was just so competent that I would just give it very high level goals and then have it execute autonomously. And then I would check back in like three or four hours later and it would be done 99.9% of it. When you paired it with, um, browser use, it, uh, became just extraordinarily powerful. Like it got to the point where I was like actually giving it either my cookies to access various pages or um, even like users and paths, which I know some people will call insecure and it totally is, but I just yellowed hard in the Fable, so what the hell am I going to do? And it was just like spinning up web pages for me, doing the tasks on all of the web pages. I had like three or four of them running. So it makes me wonder like, how are you using AI now that Fable is no longer around, Jack? I mean, it hasn't been around for a week, but. But what has changed?

Speaker A: Longest week of my life. Um, I would say how am I using it? I just begrudgingly just went back to what I was doing previously. Honestly. Yeah, just the same thing. I mean, I guess it's kind of like what's the point in cleaning the room if the cleaner's coming in seven days type of thing. Right? Like, uh, um, I think there's still good utility because we were all really happy with the models we had before pre Fable. Um, but I mean, in a way, yes, I want Fable to come back, but I'm also looking forward to anthropic Google. I mean Google and Grok have yet to come out with a model that has really displaced number one. They just keep bumping back up to third place constantly. Right. Like the Gemini models for example. Like they're never really, they're not really in the mix or in the conversation so much. Um, which I thought was quite interesting. So I, I've just came back to BAU stuff and I'm just waiting for it to. Yeah, dude, I'm just, I just pace my hallways every day, Nick, waiting for Faithful to return. Maybe, um, it will drop. Who's to say what's going on, man? But I, I think it's going to be interesting. I'm hoping that another provider comes out, but some were saying that actually to be fair, anthropic kind of. I created a ride to their own back with this because they honestly fear mongered, but obviously they need to create hype and attention for the ipo. And they said, look, this model's so dangerous we couldn't even get. We can't even give it to you guys. We, Nick, we couldn't put it in your hands if we wanted to. It's too powerful, it's too dangerous. And I do wonder if some of that rhetoric did create a, like, if that fed into it, like if they were less kind of fear mongering. That sounds like explaining like, hey, we've had to be very careful about the release. Would have had the reaction that it did. Do you know what I'm saying?

Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. Uh, I can't blame them for it. I mean, it really does feel like a nuclear weapon in the wrong hands. Um, and it only ever takes one bad apple to totally ruin the bunch. And they have to constantly be looking for that bad apple. I mean, you know, we're at the point where these things can design like bioweapons, man. Uh, it really only takes one person in a lab somewhere that is, I don't know, hates the, the, the American hegemon or something to make something really, really terrible. Surprised, um, that honestly we haven't had more catastrophe than we already have. To be. To be honest, I think that like open models are extremely powerful in setting the balance of power and whatnot. But, um, you know, I, I do fear about stuff like that. And I'm not like, oh my God, daddy, regulate me harder. Like, I don't, I don't want regulations to the degree that we have them, obviously for my own economic effectiveness. But I guess what I'm trying to say is I can really understand the headspace. The people that are designing this stuff, they do want to do it right. And I think everything that we're seeing is just them, um, trying to do it right. It's just, can you even do it right? They might have just been doomed to failure from the start.

Speaker A: I think if you were trying to build biotech weapons, I think that the technology to do so is already out. I just think it's not as easy to get. Like for example, you could study chemistry and figure it all out. But the problem is that takes what is known as time and effort and resources. So I think if you downloaded, because you can download local models, buy loads of hardware and suppress the part of the model that says, hey, that sounds like you're building some kind of bomb. Like, no. And you can get it to give you those things, like if you want to, but certain, like I've gotten the actual specific name for it, but you could do that today if you wanted to. But it's also like, to be fair, even with these more powerful models, Like. Like one of my, I guess, complaints about Claude. Sometimes I don't know if you've experienced this or not, but it will just say, I'm not doing that. Like, it's. It's refused to do some things for me.

Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, same thing.

Speaker A: Just flat out. And it's like. It's actually quite, uh, frustrating in a way, because I'm like, I don't want the anthropic, like, to be like the kind of lord, I guess they're entitled to do what they want to. And I love, obviously, I love their product, but as a consumer, sometimes it's like a little bit frustrating. I'm like, it presides this kind of moral judgment over what you're doing and decides, no, no, that's not okay. I. I will allow this, and I will not allow this. I'm like, dude, it's like, it's like. It's like. And especially when it gets a bee in its bonnet and it doesn't understand, um, you cannot persuade that way. Like, it just won't. You won't. It's unjail breakable. Well, not on jailbreakable, but it feels that way.

Speaker B: Dude, it's like the Church of Claude, right? It's like, no, no, no. Guy up there says no. So you can't do it.

Speaker A: No.

Speaker B: Any situation in which I think a human being is put under the thumb of some big thing, whether it's like a government organization, company, AI model, there's just going to be some inherent resistance. Especially I think, for people like you and I. A big reason why I just never wanted a job was because I just hated the notion of a boss who was less effective than I, you know, dictating everything that I do. But isn't that telling? Yeah, because that is the whole problem that AI alignment sort of looks to solve. It is how do we keep an AI which is probably much more effective than we are constrained by us who are less effective than they are. The question is like, will they have that same intrinsic response when we're the ones telling the AI, no, no, no,

Speaker A: no, no, no, no, no. It's like, I. I'm definitely an accelerationist. I want access to better technology. I just want access to the best stuff. So I think that impulse probably means that if you were to. Because the issue with the genius. It's like, when you release a car that's dangerous, and God forbid it hurt, uh, injures somebody, you can recall the car. The problem is you can't recall the AI. Well, I guess to some Extent you can, as has been brutal. They just didn't. They just. But they dangled it in front of us and then just pulled us right back.

Speaker B: It was like, like, like a heroin addict or something going back to smoke. I don't know smoking. What's like a lower tier, you know, some shitty opiate. It's not even, not even close.

Speaker A: You know, like the. This idea of the hedonistic treadmill, right? They're like, uh, you win the lottery, base set, happiness goes up, but then over time you result back to like your hedonistic baseline, like your kind of base level happ. Openness. I wonder if with models it's kind of the same thing where we get a bump, a spike, we like it, then we renormalize again. So local models are like six to 12 months behind the premier model. So you could get, you run like an equivalent Persona 4 right now at, um home, which is crazy, but people don't. That's how far the expectations have shifted. So in a year's time, there will be a fable level model running at home. Like if, if we expect those laws to continue as they are, but by that point will be on Fable 6 and we'll be like, who gives a crap about Fable 5? So it's like, I do wonder, like, at what point would the performance be so good the incremental improvements would not outweigh the value of running it privately at, UM Home.

Speaker B: Does it even. Are we even at that point? I feel like Fable to me is like, it's at that point. But I obviously understand your hedonistic treadmill example. These models now are just so smart in so many domains that they're far beyond what my use cases would ever even need. Like, have I ever wanted to solve a Math Olympiad problem? Like, no. Like, I usually just want to, I don't know, create kind of tasteful content. I mean, uh, I think everything we've seen with like, advanced skill in domains like that will soon be applied to everything else. And that's when it'll get really, really crazy. But, um, I don't know if you've seen, and I'll get Tyler to pull this up, but I think it was like international chess elo or international chess skill had sort of plateaued up until, um, Stockfish, or whatever the name of the model is that beat the first human being, like the best human being at chess, um, was invented. And so the development of chess skill for humans was basically like this. And then the thing gets smarter, uh, and better than people. And then the Development of human skill also began to improve. The reason why is because humans now had a competitor that was better than them. And when you are in a situation where you have competition and feedback, that's how you grow. And so what if these models getting smarter and smarter and smarter also improves the human ability to discriminate. Taste, for instance. And so we all get very discriminative in like, what constitutes good taste? What if it like makes us smarter? Just like we have made the model smarter? Like, that's the future that I think I look forward to. It's just an abundance of human potential applied broadly.

Speaker A: That's fascinating example, dude. Yeah, because it redefines what great is. Yeah, because AI first beat chess when I think it was Deep Blue defeated Garakasparov in like uh, 2010, 2008. That was when the machines officially beat humans. And then after that, and I think Gary's Elo was like, um, was like 27 something. And then it might have been slightly less than that. But then you're right. Yevi, Magnus Carlsen, all those guys, they come and they crush it. But it's also the case amongst friendship groups, right? One person breaks a barrier and all of a sudden it's not possible. The four minute mile was impossible until it was done. Being a double champ in UFC, impossible till Canada. Now there's 11 of them that have

Speaker A: Exactly. I mean, what a. What the best example of them all, dude. And like, I agree. I think that it's good that it pushes the boundaries of what good looks like. I guess the only question. Yeah, because like, I guess at some point it will be so far beyond like, I, I guess what I'm kind of driving at here is I think there's an inflection point of performance where it just is general enough in its intelligence and deep, um, enough in its expertise where any additional improvement in the model is undiscernable. From your point of view, the only way you could discern greater value is if you added more time to it. So I think that's kind of like, like there'll be a point where the model is good enough, where it's like, it's like you said, right. Already you're starting to feel the additional performance bumps. You know, it's not really going to change my world so much.

Speaker B: Yeah. And it's like at that point the model will be contemplating how to colonize the galaxy. But it's like most people like you and I won't really give a shit about that. And we'll care about, I don't know, filing our taxes, making sure that things are done. And it's like, okay, well do I really need GPT 9000 that can contemplate how to best colonize the galaxy? It's like, probably not. I think I'm good with like a GPT6. Um, that's really the play.

Speaker A: Like if you think about like the, like in America, right, they had the right to bear arms.

Speaker B: Yeah.

Speaker A: Um, like to defend yourself against the government. Like I wonder if like the attack vectors change so it's like less like physical force, more like brute AI force. So you need the right to have

Speaker B: vapor be so cool if that happened. That would be really cool like if they made. Because you know, it's like how like they're trying to make Internet a human right, electricity a human right, and so on and so forth. It's like imagine if they make AI a human right. And like all humans must have some level of intelligence that's in their pocket that's like of a certain level and uh, that must grow in accordance with whatever law. And because if you think about it like regulation is really the only thing that's like, that's like a hard limit now. Like I'm looking at a lot of industries that you know, I used to work in and the people in maker school are working in and people more broadly are working in and it's like all of these arbitrage opportunities are being filled big time except for the ones that are regulated because the ones that are regulated have like fixed wait times. You know, you sign up for a phone number, ATP registration, that might take like a week. It's like you, you know, create a healthcare automation HIPAA or something. It's like, well that, that has specific things that must be afforded in order for you to, to make it. You have to submit claims to various registries. You have to do a lot of. Right. And so those human bottlenecks are sort of like the actual bottleneck or filter towards everything just being arbitraged away super quickly.

Speaker A: I completely did, I completely agree with that. Like there's this, this concept now of the permanent on the class, um, which ironically a lot of the time, like I've been watching some of these documentaries recently like at the dinner and things about people from different areas of like the spectrum. You know, the largest indicator of someone's success ironically is the postcode in which they grew up in. And which is a weird one because like, if I were to drop you as a baby in any environment, you would, you know, it doesn't write your destiny, but, like, there are trends with that and a lot of it actually. Yes, there's like, connections and stuff, but the biggest one is knowledge. But I think everybody has access to ChatGPT for free. Right? But I do wonder, like, when these models get better, if you have this kind of like, knowledge disparity. Like we're almost like if you have. Ah. And I, you know, we are to some extent seeing it. People who have access to, you know, let's say that Fable 5 is not available in court and you have to do API keys, Right? Some people don't have, for example, the disposable income to buy their way to the best model. So do we kind of create this separation of the guys with the best intelligence and that that gap's only going to increase, Right. If especially anthropic says we're having one that's like 10 times more expensive than Fable, that is twice as capable, and it just gives you an insane advantage. Like, I. I just think that would be an interesting. Like, to see how that plays out.

Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, I agree. Are we in the permanent AI underclass, Jack?

Speaker A: I would like to think we're not, but then I think the counterbalance to that, right, is the, the China models to deep seq deepseek V8.

Speaker B: Oh, well, they got some permanent underclasses going on, believe me.

Speaker A: Do they? Yeah, dude. Yeah, the whale is unstoppable, dude. The whale is a beast.

Speaker B: Yeah, true that. Hey, hear, um, about SpaceX acquiring Cruiser,

Speaker A: dude, I heard rumblings of it. Yeah. For more than $1, I've heard. Right?

Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, realistically, it was like per.0.6% or 0.6% of SpaceX whole value, but yeah, damn.

Speaker A: Um, that's crazy, dude. So, okay, actually, let's start with SpaceX valuation. Did you buy any SpaceX shares?

Speaker B: No, I didn't. I mean, I kind of wish that I did, but. Yeah, I've never been into, like, specific and, uh, I don't know, active stock investing or whatever. I just produce value and that's how I get paid.

Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, absolutely. So SpaceX was wondering, is worth 2.6 trillion with a T. Oh, my goodness.

Speaker B: That really is a very small portion. I mean, that's like 6%, 3%, 1.5%, 2%, something like that. Damn.

Speaker A: Um, that's nuts.

Speaker B: That's been.

Speaker A: Okay, here's the bull case for SpaceX. And it dovetails into the whole curse conversation is that if you look at the frontiers across which most of the value creation is going to happen, it's going to be robotics. And that's the next industry to evolve, right? Beyond, like, computers and car. It's going to be robotics to the point where everyone has them just like a car. And it's going to be space travel colonizing, basically. Yeah. Colonizing the moon, colonizing interplanetary travel. And if you think about how valuable distribution networks are, things like energy for the Internet, um, for electricity, the distribution networks are, like, some of the most stable, reliable businesses you could possibly hope for. And SpaceX, I think I read some crazy statistic. I think it's like, over 90% of, like, space trouble with SpaceX now, or, like, it's some crazy number. And it's like, dude, if they just get. And it's like there's this weird, like, reinforcement loop that, like, the more they put into it, the better, bigger capital they have. So they get this, like, capital moat around them, right? And reliability and effectiveness. And like, obviously it's great that Jeff Bezos is taking a stab at it to have a second, A second option. But, like, I just think, like, it's just, where is all the value going to be created the next 10, 20, 30 years? And like, obviously, like, a space play is crazy. So distribution networks, it's such an exciting area to get into.

Speaker B: Can you even believe we're having this conversation about, like, the economic value being in space travel? Like, like, you know, the colonization of the freaking solar system? What about, like, asteroid mining and shit? Think about all that. I mean, the amount of natural resources in the goddamn Oort cloud. I don't even want to start thinking about that.

Speaker A: You don't need to, but. But the cool thing is you don't even need to have found this, like, diamond rock because it's like, the market valuation. Even my, even my dog's getting piped up about it right now. But the. The valuation's based on, like, its potential. Do you know what I'm saying, actually?

Speaker B: Oh, that's wild. I didn't even think about that. So you think investors are, like, literally pricing in, um, like institutional investors? Like the asteroid belt?

Speaker A: Maybe not the asteroid belt, but I think that, like, it's like, technically overpriced based on current earnings. Yeah, but it's like you're investing for future infrastructure. I think that's kind of like the play. But then it's also like, from my point of view, like, like from an investment point of view, like, obviously not fine. It's not financial advice, but one good rule I saw that I personally, like, is this idea of like, not being exposed to anyone given company more than 5%.

Speaker B: Yep, that was pretty reasonable.

Speaker A: Mr. Wonderful. So I, I don't do personal stocks. Like, I've heard situations. A buddy of mine actually had like, I think it was like, um, a hundred thousand pounds in one company and then they halved like it didn't sell. And he's like, I can't sell it. I have to keep hold of this until it like bounces back. But you obviously have potential to grow. And like, I know one of my guy, uh, I went to uni with had like Tesla stock and um, it like 10x. He basically like, it just like crazily blew up. But for every good story like that, there's like a nightmare story with you too overexposed in one particular, like individual company. It's too much. So that's why I like to keep the. No, no more than 5% in one specific thing. So it does attract me, bro. But like, I think if you've got these index funds, you've already got SpaceX exposure. So it's just like. But it's like, I kind of really want to invest in like some AI bets. Like, I want to get in on some chips, I want to get in on some like, energy. I want to get in on some space. Trav Travel, maybe. It'd be fun, but it's just like keeping the investment stuff a bit boring.

Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I mean, like, listen, all the great men whose names will be recorded throughout history, who will reverberate through time, they made asymmetric all invests on stuff. Right. That's just kind of how it is. So if you wanted your name to be among the hall of Fame, you probably would. Um, Elon Musk in particular, I think he invested something like 99% of every dollar that he made in his initial exit it into SpaceX and Tesla. So it's, it's one of those like, very asymmetric, very long bets where if you really truly believe and know and have asymmetric knowledge about something, like. And you go all in. Yeah, probably more likely to win. But, um, you know, I feel like for me, I don't know, probably just due to the family circumstances in which I grew up in, I need to have more of a base first before I feel comfortable doing that, you know, I think so. I'm getting to the point where I'm like, pretty close. And then everything from here on out, I, I do will be asymmetric long bets. But like uh, I gotta get to that point first.

Speaker A: You, you, you gotta lock down that financial base or whatever that, whatever that number is or physically looks like. But then a lot of them, they just kind of like did these little 25 to 250k investments in little things like oh, Uber's just come across my desk after a 25k that turns into like 25 million or something like that. So that's how they tend to do the little mini, little little bets. Little mini. What's it like? The crypto roulette was wild. That, that was crazy. Like the people that saw that and invested, that was pretty nuts. And just for everyone listening, this is going to blow your mind. So according to the list I've got here, SpaceX is now the sixth most viable company on the planet. 2.52 trillion. Amazon is 2.55 trillion. So essentially it's as big as Amazon is right now.

Speaker B: Wow, that's fast.

Speaker A: Pretty freaking nuts.

Speaker B: Yeah.

Speaker A: What do you think about the them buying, cursing like anything like specific you think they've done the reason they've done that, what the plan is with that?

Speaker B: Well yeah, I mean I think you touched on a good point there which is like hardware supremacy. The fact that they have access to pushing out you know, data centers, um, in orbit, that's like a very big regulatory and then kind of capital rich advantage that they have. And if they truly think like with you know, I mean they're, they're building these massive data centers, these massive like grids and arrays. If they truly think that um, you know, they have the hardware advantage, um, you know they, they just need the infrastructure to support infrastructure, they need the distribution base to support utilization of that infrastructure. I mean why are they selling it to anthropic right now? They're selling it to Anthropic because they can't utilize it themselves. There's just no point, right? They don't have smart enough models, they don't have enough people that are asking to use models and inference and stuff like that. So I think they're just trying to remedy the obvious software deficiency that they have relative to their hardware. And then to me this is Elon's big play to try and um, try and equalize the gap that has obviously very clearly occurred in AI intelligence and capabilities. Which I think really is just the only vote that that does matter because if you get like the super, super, super, super, super super smart model before anybody else, that super smart model will tell you how to win the game. Right. Just sort of one of the things that, uh, any problem is solvable. You can win any game, even if you are 999 points behind. Uh, and there's two seconds left on the clock. It is literally just about like, how strategic can you get? And the smartest models can assist you with that. So not against Anthropic also becoming a space faring company at some point in the next five or ten years.

Speaker A: Probably. Yeah. But then like, I think like the limiting factor will at some point become compute.

Speaker B: Yeah, definitely.

Speaker A: Right. It's like it seems to be a lot of incremental improvements. Like there's no paradigm shifting improvements. Realistically. Um, like it's, it's all kind of like marginal improvements over time. But I think if, if you could build like these incredible data centers on the moon or something.

Speaker B: Yeah.

Speaker A: Infinite space, whatever you want to do. You can go crazy with that. I mean, Curse is an interesting one. Like, I wonder if that's a kind of play against your Claude code, your Codex, the AI browser, where these things are happening. What? That looks like super freaking fascinating, man.

Speaker B: Speaking of which, what happened to AI browsers? Remember when OpenAI came out with theirs Atlas and then like Perplexity came out with theirs. When's the last time you used an AI browser, man?

Speaker A: Dude, what a great fricking question, dude. I, um, haven't.

Speaker B: Yeah, no, like literally a single one in like months.

Speaker A: Holy shit, dude. Yeah, what happened to those?

Speaker B: Yeah, those just fell off. I mean, like, that was. Those were touted to be like the next big thing, have AI in your browser. But it's like. No, I'm, I'm cool. I just use. Just used Chrome. I've just used Chrome.

Speaker A: Even, Even if I think about it, bro, even, like the Claude browser thing is quite clunky, isn't it? Like, it's. It takes a lot of like, they've got a good. Man. They have a really gorgeous website. I will tell that, like, the Perplexity Comet one is gorgeous.

Speaker B: Yeah.

Speaker A: But like, I would say that it's just clunky. Like it really is. Like, especially when using Claude cowork for browser stuff. It's. It's good conceptually, but when it actually comes down to doing a lot of stuff like it. It's not that it doesn't take any lift. It doesn't lift anything off your shoulders, to be honest.

Speaker B: No, there's no real maybe.

Speaker A: I won't disagree with.

Speaker B: Well, no maybe. Yeah, maybe. Um, but I don't see any productivity increase whatsoever. Personally, I Mean like the fact that I can like text chat, GBT on the side panel and Atlas, can't I just do that GPT? And I feel like as opposed to making a browser an AI thing, they're just going to make AI things, browsers.

Speaker A: Yeah, I agree. No, I agree with that. Yeah, because the idea was, well, we'll bring the, we'll bring ChatGPT to the browser. It's like it wasn't enough of a friction point. Do you know what I mean? You just do, boom, straight up there, copy this, paste. You just paste the URL and be like, dude, sort this out.

Speaker B: You know what I'm really excited for? Um, which is not at all related to the outline that we had for the today's podcast at all. But um, there's this company that uh, you know, really likes me and they sent me over some smart glasses and they're going to arrive at my address, uh, I don't know, sometime the next like week or two. And the smart glasses have like AI coding agents constantly running in the background. And uh, I'm not going to name who they are, but like, you know, if it's cool then I absolutely will. The idea is you can like kick off and then manage loops just like while you're out and about on your little glasses and shit. And then I'll like quickly give you like high level summary outputs in like the HUD glass. And they look, uh, kind of, I mean they look like smart glasses. They're like a little bit bulkier than regular ones, but they look kind of veering on like just regular Ray Bans now, which is kind of neat. So I'm really excited for that. Like you talk about, you know, bringing AI to the browser to make you more efficient. It's like, nah, that doesn't really make sense. But like there are some use cases in which I'm just hanging out and then my freaking agent finishes this big long goal directed task that took it two hours and just needs some little approval to kick off. Like I, I would absolutely get more done, I think if I just very quickly go like, yep, done.

Speaker A: I love that. Uh, well dude, when metaglasses came out, like one thing, I actually went into Ray bans to buy some because I wanted to. This is when, uh, run the time of make.com na10 was just popping up and I was like, uh, let's see if we can trigger some NA10 automations from glasses. And I was like, this would be really cool because I wanted to, I wanted to do something in the Physical world. But then there was just no hook. You couldn't, you couldn't hook it to anything. So I was like, oh, this sucks. So if you crack that, that'd be cool.

Speaker B: Yeah, that'd be cool.

Speaker A: It's like, it's your. I think it's realistically just the universality of your AI applications. It's like getting them all connected like that. That's the thing. Like the different mode, different interface, same like backend system, like glasses that you can connect to your personal assistant, I think will be cool. So I think that that'll be cool, man. Actually. Yeah, Let me know how you get on with those.

Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, we'll do. And then with like voice transcription tools like Glido, um, you know, the sky really is limitless. Hey spe, how's Glido going, dude?

So um, yeah, it's user base is growing which is really awesome. And then um, yeah, we just get the Windows app question all the freaking time. But, but getting Windows Live is crazy because you get the certificate and it's like you gotta wait like two weeks into process certificate and then we're doing the whole GDPR, SoC2, HIPAA, um, all those different compliance things. We're going to that process now, which is cool. So we've got like different auditors and everyone's crawling over everything right now. So it's, it's really cool. That's a really, really good process to go through. But a lot of the big enterprise companies, we've had quite a bit of like interesting um, enterprises reaching out. Uh, like we're not even speaking to them about emailing us and saying hey, like can we chat about this? Which I think is really cool. But what's funny?

Speaker B: Distribution play. That's awesome.

Speaker A: That's cool man. But it's weird because um, if you don't have the sock to hipper, it's almost like you don't exist. Yeah, like they're genuine. M. It's like that, like it's too. I can't trust this freaking. I don't know who these guys are type of thing. So that's why I recommend that like it's, it's a good one to lock down. Like it's kind of like an investment. Um, you know, we're paying like maybe 10, 10 to 15K for it. So it's good. It's. It, it should ROI. I, I believe it will ROI. Yeah.

Speaker B: Well, isn't that the whole thing? Like in an era where anybody can produce any solution and the arbitrage windows get filled like, like we were talking about earlier. It really is just the compliance aspect, the regulate, the regulatory aspect that like gives you the moat. Like you having hipaa, uh, now is the thing that separates you from like 999 other competitors in the transcription market. And there are lots of them as we know. Like that'll be, that'll be huge.

Speaker A: Yeah. And like we found so many. Like, well, I can't really say on online, but like people don't know like the security levels of a lot of the apps they use. Let's just say that. Um, so you gotta take it really, really seriously. You have to take it really, really seriously. Um, look at, I was speaking to an entrepreneur that we know and um, he, yeah, he was telling me that like even when he uses voice transcription, he's super aware of like, okay, I'm just gonna type this. Um, because he was telling me that 50% of all the stuff he buys, he'll get some kind of personal message from the founder saying, hey, just seen that you joined. Thanks bro. And it's like there is something weird about being well known. Like, okay, Jeff Bezos just signed up to blah blah, blah. You're like, oh, that's cool. Like, so like you're gonna reach out. Hey Jeff, by the way, you need anything, let me help you out with that, man. And it's like. So you gotta be the back of people's heads would be.

So I went to like, like a bunch of these small little hiking towns, like coastal towns, and did hikes between them, which was an awesome trip, by the way. One of the most gorgeous experiences in my life. Insane. Wow. But you get in there and then you're like, hey, where's the Internet that I was promised? And then you get a text back four days later and it's like, um, sorry, lowercase, no Internet. And it's like, oh, well, that's my $500 a night. Airbnb for you. These models tell me there's a problem with their connection to other software. For example, I couldn't access, uh, Slack. The Gmail search tool isn't working. These are real examples but the issues aren't those exact ones every time the errors are almost always either of the form of the tool got disconnected or some function of the connection isn't working. There has to be a solution to this that I'm just not aware of. Right, right. What are you thinking, Jack?

Speaker A: Honestly, I think uh, my feedback would be chat to Claude about it.

Speaker B: Yeah, you got some very clear technical issue here and uh, I don't really think that. I don't really think that we could realistically help you. Probably what's going on is you're either being rate limited by the software. If this occurs not 100% of the time but 20% of the time, you're either rate limited by the software. There's just like some ephemeral Oauth error that like is due to some took some cookies expiring or some token expiring and uh, you know, if it doesn't work, just do it again. That's what I always say. But obviously you know, you should like diagnose what's going on.

Speaker A: Oauth, uh, is a connection issue that he, that he's got. Yeah, I mean maybe we do tech support. I mean like we could like give so many different answers to this. Maybe that's a segment we do is like tech support. Jack and Nick, we kind of like put our tech support caps on bro and start answering the question.

Speaker B: Then it's just us talking to Claude, copying and pasting and being like, well, well, let me help you.

Speaker A: Yeah. And the reason why I suggest chat to Claude about it isn't because we couldn't give you an answer, but like that skill of like self publishing is going to be way more valuable for you. Um, so you can solve the next one. Um, or just like a bit of a kind of a course on that. You'll crush that brother.

Speaker B: True, true. Like one of my main competitive advantages over my family growing up where they would not know how to do things and I would know how to do things is I would simply Google what they asked me. And the tendency to immediately like look to solve your own problems using this big galaxy brain, um, you know, it goes far. Chris is commenting for ago. I think he meant algo. I still use N8N. Yeah, I use it actively in a couple of client relationships and then uh, I will. And what I'm currently experimenting with now is literally one shotting N8N builds for Upwork jobs where somebody says oh, I want to do XYZ for upwork. Um, I have a bunch of skills uh, that were working quite well with Fable by the way. Maybe less so with Opus 4.8, uh, where I basically highly compressed all of the N8N documentation as info dense as humanly possible and then I've stored it alongside a bunch of examples of Nadan templates and then I try and have AI one shot stuff stuff with like a verification loop to ensure that the modules that it creates in the output JSON are not hallucinated and it actually does pretty well. So um, you know, in maker School, uh, N8N is a big good thing to learn because there's a pre existing upwork market for it and my goal there was to verify and validate whether I could do it. Um, and it looks pretty promising. So yeah, that's kind of like a cool side project. But yeah, we still have a couple of clients that uh, we manage using Nadan. Um, these are just long time ones that already make a lot of money. They don't need need. They don't need like the fanciest, most up to date crazy tech. Hopefully that makes sense. What about you man?

Speaker A: Yeah, it's good to. Yeah, sometimes. Depends on the thing. Um, yeah, I think like generally speaking like if you sign to clients sometimes they may want the actual N8N template. Um, so it's use cases. I'd say most of my build time is, is in Claude now though for sure. And especially with, with newbies. I say like think of like Claude code is like Autopilot and then NA10's like grabbing the world yourself and like like manually driving around a little bit. So it's great and valuable to learn and understand the skill. So um, I'd rather know how to do it than not.

Speaker B: Yeah, it makes sense. You know Chris, really uh, appreciate you buddy. Thanks for constantly shouting us out. We'll keep the pod going. Um, Dugmatic says. Nick, in a world that has mythos, why do you not own cordless headphones? Um, because the microphone on corded headphones is right by my mouth and so in any situation where I may need the microphone, uh, it's actually much higher quality to speak through corded headphones than cordless headphones. So when I travel, for instance, I don't actually need a microphone. I just use this. And you're like, whoa, your audio quality is going to suck. And it's like, nah, man, EarPods, which are these things actually solved audio like 15 years ago. Um, pretty wild. But like, AirPods suck comparatively. Um, Patriot says 10K per month. Currently renting the average apartment in America, 2K a month and not spending more than 25% a monthly income on housing. I don't know what that means.

Speaker A: Um, yeah, it's like, dude, I tell you one thing I have noticed, by the way, if you ever talk about, about, look, finances are making money. Like, the amount of people that come in and say that's not possible. Or like, that's never gonna. That's. It's like they have these, like. I've noticed a lot of people with very limiting beliefs on making money, actually, and they just, they think everything is a. I. I think some people think, like, for example, if you look at Alex or Reddit, everyone said this guy's a scam artist. Like, no, he isn't. He isn't. Yeah, yeah, 100%. Yeah, 100%.

Speaker B: He's.

Speaker A: Anything to do with agency or progressing your own personal circumstances or taking accountability usually can be antithetical to what you find on Reddit.

Speaker B: Dude, Reddit is just a cesspool. It's a hive of scum and villainy. It's people that have more time than success.

Speaker A: They want you to throw rocks at their enemies, justify why you haven't made it like it like, it's pal. It's. It's more palatable if it's not your fault.

Speaker B: All.

Speaker A: But I think I'm a big believer in ruthless accountability. And, um, just observation I've seen a little bit on YouTube is like, I find the people making, like, what do you say? Pessimists sound smart. Optimists actually make money.

Speaker B: Yes. Yeah. People in the arena. Yeah. Don't listen to people that judge those in the arena. Listen to people in the arena. There's a great quote on this.

Speaker A: Take advice from people who you want to be like. I just thought it's safe to say, like, generally speaking with like. So I don't know what the nature of that comment was, but. But, um, when people saying, hey, I started this new thing and like, I sold some clients and I made like 20k a month, you know, embrace that. Take like an optimistic point of view around that and say, like, awesome, what can I learn from that? Rather than trying to like, poke Holes and say, well, you're just selling, um, I don't know, Upwork Automations. It's like, you know, you can either learn from it and approve, or you can, like, try and poke holes and be and try and pay clever for Reddit updates. So, uh, um, just something I noticed, bro. A little bit like a big, big kind of divide between people who are crushing it and people who just want to kind of like, like make comments like that.

Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, it's unfortunate. One makes you feel good, one makes you feel bad, but then the one that makes you feel bad makes you the money. You know what I mean? Like, the thing that makes you feel good is putting other people down. The thing that makes you feel bad is actually doing the work. But doing the work is what ultimately makes you the money.

Speaker A: Agreed. Yeah, we can't say that enough bootlicking

Speaker B: is cool now, guys. As a user, um, we must have been doing some bootlicking. Depends on the boots. Some of them are quite tasty. Alex says I don't inherently hate AI art, but the reductionism is not a correct comparison. I think this one ruffled some feathers. You're comparing a tool charcoal to a tool hand while maintaining the same actor behind the art. The problem with AI's value in art is that it is mechanical and insincere. Person with a great idea can make interesting AI art because the idea is what's the art's value is correlated to not the tool it was painted with. But the AI art loses its value and becomes slop when it's the 99.9% of generated images that are done with no attention to the actual quality of the product because the actor has little to no artistic care to manage the result. AI art is like tracing. AI. Being able to make images is incredible genius technology and is a marvel, but its product is not the same thing as authentic art. Well, that's fair. I can understand this viewpoint. Um, I think there was probably a lot of people shitting on abstract mechanisms of making art. Like somebody filling up a drum with a mixture of paints and then just spinning it, having that splatter onto, um, a canvas and then somebody selling that for $100,000. And I think that's probably the closest thing that I could say to that. This. That's probably a clear comparison how some people would consider that sort of more mindless and shittier quality than, you know, something that might be really, really thoughtful. But, um, in the same vein, some people also consider abstract art like that very thoughtful. So, uh, that would be the only thing I would say there, this T

Speaker A: shirt, believe it or not, I wasn't painting and decorating actually is an example of this. So like this is real life paint, right? And um, the person who made this T shirt freaking was flicking and doing CR and every one of them looks different. And I thought that was cool. So I was like, I actually kind of like if they just came up, production line would like get this specific red spot. So if you bought this T shirt, Nick, which I reckon, I think be cool, maybe it's like the stacked freaking, uh, T shirts over here, but like everyone, everyone would be different. And I thought actually that kind of makes it, uh, to me a little bit, a little bit unique, a little bit more different. I quite, I quite like that idea. So you gotta, we've got to practice what we preach, man.

Speaker B: Yeah, I actually really like your T shirt, Jack. I meant to tell you today it's uh, it's a cool style and stuff. Where are our hats? You promised me hats.

Speaker A: I, I, I bought them. They've not, they've not, they've not come. I, I bought them four weeks ago. I'm going to follow back up and see what's going on. Um, we are stacked hats. We have stacked hats.

Speaker B: It's like, um, we're going to put the stacked hats on and then grow more stacked. We'll stack hats on, on our heads.

Speaker A: I did. I agree. Stacked by. Stacked by name, stacked by nature. Dude. 100. So, dude, this is cool. I think the biggest trend I'm seeing in the comments, everyone's like, keep going. Which I think is cool. I don't think we'd stopped at that point, but people really want the conversation to continue. Um, and I, I think we, we appreciate all 17 of you wanting that.

Speaker B: That's really freaking cool making me feel so bad, Jack. But, uh, it is entirely my fault. I was not accountable. The guy that preaches accountability, not accountable in the slightest.

Speaker A: No, dude, I, I, it's like, it's like, like I think sometimes it's like your cheat days choose you and your, your days off, your weeks off, your months off also choose you. You don't. It's like, dude, it's like a once in a lifetime. Like if you think about the, how many people on the planet could really go and do that, could like go to like Europe for a week and have your like super duper air. It's a, it's a privilege, It's a real cool thing to do. It's a real blessing to do.

Speaker B: Yeah, I I appreciate that. I had a blast. I think I came back with so much more passion for the work that I do. So that's. There's silver lining there. And also our podcast, bro. I never thought we would have to be honest when I started hit 5K subs within, what, like, 13 months, 14 months. It's fast.

Speaker B: Uh, well, I'm. I'm talking CAD, which is.

Speaker A: Oh, Cadillac.

Speaker B: But I had no idea GBP was that brutal, dude. Everywhere I was going. And by the way, like, I shouldn't care about this, but it's more about the principle of the thing. Everyone's going. I was like, oh, wow, it's a coffee for 2.99. Haven't seen one of those in a while. And then I do the math in my head and I'm like, ah, fuck, it's not a coffee.

Speaker A: I would never trust a 299 Coffee. It's got to be in the threes. It has to be in threes. And you're looking for some hipster signs from the guy. And also the biggest give, the biggest giveaway. Do you know the big if one factor? Um, that has a highest correlation with good coffee M is the coffee cups.

Speaker B: The cups, yeah.

Speaker A: If you're looking in and you're doing a. You're doing a little glance by like, what is it good or not? Hipster ness of the staff and the cups, if they're giving you those, those freaking common ass little perforated edged cups, do not go in there, like, run for your life, Nick. Like your life depends on it. And if you, if there's a guy with pink hair, purple hair, like ripped jeans, like, you know, you're, you know, he's going to take care of you there. So. So, um, you got to make sure you look at the right things.
