Episode notes

The healthcare system was not built for women. Dr. Lisa Larkin has spent over 35 years proving it and building something better. In this episode, Vincent Catalano sits down with Dr. Lisa Larkin, MD, FACP, MSCP, IF, a nationally recognized women's health internist and Past President of The Menopause Society, to examine why traditional insurance-based medicine consistently fails midlife women and what a better model actually looks like. Lisa shares the pivotal decision that led her to leave a distinguished academic career at the University of Cincinnati to open Concierge Medicine of Cincinnati in 2016. She describes how the direct care, concierge model transforms the patient experience by replacing rushed, volume-driven appointments with transparent pricing, extended visit times, and genuinely comprehensive care. Under her leadership, CMOC has grown into Cincinnati's largest independent primary care and women's health practice, with 10 female physicians and clinicians across three locations. Vincent and Lisa explore the founding of Ms. Medicine in 2019 and the mission behind building a national network of specialty-trained women's health clinicians working in a direct care model.
