It’s easy to build a case for steel. Steel is sustainable and durable, lasting for decades. It is, quite literally, the ultimate building material for a circular economy. So why isn’t steel used more in residential buildings…and what is a ‘barndominium’? We are thrilled to welcome Tony Bouquot, General Manager of the Metal Building Manufacturers Association, who dives headfirst into building a case for using steel in more residential areas, shares the very origins of steel’s existence in World War I and Quonset Huts, and explains why it’s such an important material, especially in a time when energy is becoming not only more vital, but expensive too. This episode also breaks down some of the misconceptions of steel-built buildings and why those misconceptions exist in the first place.
