The Detailing Industry is Changing: Why Cheap Products and Equity Groups Affect Your Detail Company

CALLING ALL DETAILERS · 2025-12-12 · 3 min

Episode notes

Did you know that the detailing product world has seen a big shift recently? David Elliott, CEO of Pearl Nano and host of Calling All Detailers, discusses the impact of large equity groups acquiring major detailing product companies. Yes, four of the top detail product companies (3 product manufacturing companies and one detail product brand) have been bought and are now run by their management teams. What does this mean for you and your business? Hopefully, it does not mean much, unless they decide to lower the quality of the products to save money, pressure distributors and vendors to buy more products, or raise the prices on the items to levels not in line with the market. Why does this matter to you? Equity groups are primarily focused on profit. To increase profits, they may be forced to squeeze smaller companies or even reduce the quality of certain products by changing their formulations. This shift in the marketplace means the products you rely on might be changing in quality without notice. At Pearl Nano, we are committed to maintaining high-quality products that produce amazing results and will not change our formulas to chase profit.
